As stated in the Patch Notes for today, Federation-aligned Jem'Hadar characters who had access to "certain" Federation uniforms have had that access removed. In response, I have deleted my Jem'Hadar and canceled my plans to buy anything for the character or for the faction as a whole. To say I am dismayed and disappointed would be an understatement.
I wanted female character options for the new faction, but that was denied. I begrudgingly accepted it. When I learned that certain customization options and costumes were limited to the premium Vanguard species, I accepted that as well and was prepared to pay my Zen. I was only holding back until I could find out more regarding what option unlocked what, prepared to pay as much as 2k Zen for the smaller starter pack if necessary despite not really wanting the ship all that much. Now I'm glad I didn't waste my Zen, since what I wanted to buy was slated to be taken away!
Cosmetic and customization options are selling points for many, just as traits and gear and other such game mechanics are for others. I understand that the company relies on a revenue stream, so I can accept when things I want must be paid for. I was prepared to buy a premium species solely for cosmetic and costume elements, since those options weren't available to purchase separately. But the thing I wanted to buy was taken away! It's worse than the devs merely choosing not to invest their time and resources developing such options, they HAD the options already in the game and they spent their time to remove what was already there! It adds insult to injury knowing that what I wanted was already there and they chose to go out of their way to take it away.
Obviously, I won't be spending those planned Zen since what I wanted to purchase with them was removed from the game. And for what? How does it benefit anyone in any way to remove customization? I fail to see the purpose or the justification for this action, and no one in authority has offered any explanation.
In the Patch Notes thread, I was one of several people who voiced displeasure at this action, and Cryptic merely closed the thread without offering any response to the issue raised. I'm raising it here. I invite those who made their voices heard in that thread to do so here, and any others who feel the same to also add their statements.
I would like to hope that there will be an official response and for our request to be granted, but I am sadly not very hopeful that it will come to pass. I would like to be pleasantly surprised, but if not I will have at least stated on the record my dissatisfaction as a customer and the reason I withheld a planned purchase.
I ask that those who reply here please refrain from flaming Cryptic, any of their employees or representatives, or anyone in this thread including myself that they may disagree with. I believe that we can and should, as mature adults, address our differences of opinion and any grievances we may hold in a respectful manner.
I invite your reply.

Far as the rest, meh. I like the starter vanguard pack and really had no desire to make a Jem'Hadar look like the Federation or Klingons anyways so meh.
Bit of a wash for me.

Basically all I have left in the uniform cat is what little jem'hadar stuff there is, the ennis outfit from the mission and the mercenary outfit which is apparently the only thing they didn't remove. Well, there's always off-duty, but as we know boffs can't wear those at all.
Not good at all.
And it hurts me that I (and other women and girls) have to put up with this lack of empathy by men in a video game about Star Trek. Repeat: STAR TREK!!! Why can't we have a way to express who we are = women.
I am lucky to have a very supportive Fleet Leader...he told me I would be waiting forever on the dweebs at Cryptic to get it right. And to use my creativity to go my own way.

And, frankly, I looked at Gamma Recruit rewards and wonder how much of it I really need at all.

There's nothing dubious about rejecting a female Jem'hadar option. They are a genetically engineered race, bred in a tank, created to be the perfect soldier. Making them male means - in general - a higher level of aggressiveness and ambition, and more muscle mass. Why on Earth would the Founders bother to create a second gender? Female Jem'hadar are not needed for procreation, and they would be less perfect soldiers.
Also it is a lore thing so for Cryptic to change things would require them taking it up with Paramount Pictures. Also why players can't fly actual non holographic Borg ships like Cubes.
The Vorta are not warriors at all. Weak eyes, poor reactions, etc. Still maybe one day they will be playable. I don't see the whole thing as big deal since the ships are fun, the weapons are amazing. 'Throwing knives? Yes please!' and story is good.
Neither is the lack of female ones, despite the fact that I'd probably play one if I could. While canon never said female Jem'Hadar didn't exist in the past, it was quite explicit that there certainly aren't any in the present day.
The sense of entitlement that players like this have is baffling. You literally admit there is no bases for your rant other then the fact YOU want it. And yet instead of understanding that you double down. You are saying, your wants and desires are far more important then the lore and rules and by laws set before you? If that's the case then I want to use every ship no matter the faction, wear every outfit no matter the sex, and use all the skills no matter class. Because I want that. It would make the game funner for me. And as a Lifer that owns a ton of c-store ships and items in game I obviously paid enough into this game to be given these things. Please and thank you.

While I agree that there should be no female Jem'hadar(there aren't males either) they really should had vorta as an option. For those that say vorta dont fight, I say have you played the new episodes? Weyoun has no problem beaming into danger and blasting hurq. He even initiates combat. For the "it wouldnt fit the dominion intro" excuse I think it would. First is a dominion military rank. Yes having vorta with that rank would be different but Odo does things differently. His Jem'hadar are different. If Odos Jem'hadar can question the order of things and even the changelings divinity why cant Odos vorta be combat capable?
And removing most cross-faction sets is just...Blergh.
I just wish they'd give us Vorta.
I'm surprised no-one seems to mention that, considering one of the main characters in the franchise had such an aid (an aid that's actually in the game).
I had always leaned towards genetic modification or augmentation as an explanation, but implants like Geordi's would make a lot of sense as well and are already established in lore ... idk why I didn't think of that before myself, lol.
Except Vorta aren't warriors, tac captain, eng captain or even sci captain. They are genetically breed over seers period, which would be rather boring to play. Making them anything but what they are to appease a few, falls under the same conversation as female Jem'Hadar or playable borg cube.
