Has anyone checked on the in-game calendar yet? When does Risa start?
It's not on the calendar right now. There is, however, a roughly 9 week long Bonus Marks Weekend on there starting July 5th. I would guess that that was probably an intentional false entry to cover the footprints of the Lohlunat Festival, either with a 3 week buffer for error or also including the next 3 week queue event, which would normally happen around mid-August.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

I believe it is rather telling that the mere presence of Summer Event would ruin ViL. With absolutely NO MENTION of Summer Event anywhere, does that mean our little Risa fun would suck away all of that Victory is Life fun?
Only speculating, but that seems to be the conclusion since there is absolutely no mention of Summer event.

Will make a nice change. I am usually freezing my a$$ off when my characters are wearing their bikinis and sweating when they are wearing their jerseys and winter coats.

Confirmed multiple times in multiple formats: yes there will be a summer event this year. It will be announced soon(tm). Note the expansion that just came out. That pushed normal seasonal event stuff back a bit (so devs had time to work on content and players wouldn't be overloaded. We're all quite busy now with the new missions and stuff...give it a couple weeks. )

But the deafening silence about the summer event is most worrisome...
The only conclusion I can come to is that they literally do not know until after they've settled all of the issues with ViL. I'm hoping that is what it is, meaning that presumably after most ViL issues have dwindle down they'll then be able to know exactly when they can pull the big levers to get the Risa party started.

Or that Cryptic knows exactly when the summer event is going to go live but won't announce the announcement until the announcement is ready to be announced.
Ie. they don't talk about upcoming content prior to official PR (beyond soon(tm), which as we've said many times has been explicitly stated) and regardless of the expansion we never know exactly when the summer event is going to go live (or any event, for that matter) until we're just about on top of it (ie. within a week or two.)

May 30th to June 8th: 9 days is all the lead-up we had. Unless Risa is coming next week, we shouldn't have heard about it yet.
Don't look at absolute time (that's an arbitrary criteria that Cryptic has explicitly stated does not hold for Risa 2018. The date has shifted a bit for obvious reasons), simply look at the relative framework.

The calendar never (IIRC) slots major events prior to their official announcement. This time last year we had the summer event listed because it was only a day prior to its launch.
