Thanks. This is simply not reassuring. The absence of info leads to believe we're purposely being left silent, which could mean Summer Event is either not important, or being pushed back. That is making me nervous. I'm anxious. There's never enough time with Summer Event. I wait all year, and no word is making me very nervous.

You do have to consider that we've got all this buildup to the Expansion. What's gonna be more interesting to hear about? An expansion happening literally next week? Or the regularly scheduled Summer Event?

We'll start hearing about more non-expansion stuff soon enough. Just be patient.

Personally I've been hearing about the new expansion since the middle of March, but yes I shall attempt more patience. Thank you.

The calendar remains empty after the 5th of June. Is there a Summer Event this year? If so, when?

The vast majority of times we don't hear about the summer event until days before it's released. If it's not on the news blogs then no-one on the forums can answer you no matter how many times you ask. Best guess is 12th or 14th of June depending on workload of bugfixes for ViL. Do not take the calendar for granted nor guarantee because those dates can and do change!

Maybe the calendar is being replaced by the lander?

Dafter things have happened, such as the addition of a lander page to the exit menu.

    How about playable female Gorn?

What would a female Gorn look like? As reptiles, they wouldn't nurse their young (no lady chest - since proper words are censored) and probably don't give live birth (no wide birthing hips).

On the live stream a few days ago someone asked about the Summer event, and the community manager answered it is happening but it has been pushed back a bit for the ViL launch.

I have no problem with that as long as the duration of the event remains the same.
  • zateron#9297 zateron Member Posts: 92 Arc User
I'm a bit disappointed with Summer Event being pushed back simply because I've waited all year for Summer Event, and it seems the new expansion is being given more precedence.
I can only imagine how much hard work they've put into the new expansion, and how proud they are to finally present it to the public and normally I'd be fine with that, but the problem is Dranuur Colony World is a big island to have new characters running up, and down daily to play mini games to make provisions, and powerboards aren't available to new characters until the Summer Event store opens.

Many people have legitimate reasons why the Summer Event is more important, mainly being the lack of Summer Event items only available when the Summer Event stores open to new players who've waited much longer for Summer Event.

I am all disappointed. I would prefer Summer Event, too. If only to give them more time to get things ironed out.

I am glancing through post after post, volumes and volumes of bugs and complaints going on with this expansion ON TRIBBLE and thinking it can't possibly be ready for Holodeck on Tuesday next week.

But Cryptic does what they want....we just get to play the game.

I know, I know....their focus is on what sells....not what is playable.
So, if all the $$$ stuff works it will be pushed on to Holodeck....too early.

Honestly I think it would be better if they delayed the expansion instead to address any problems and bugs with it.

Do you really think that they would add full pilot spec to an event ship especially when they just released a second set of pilot related ships on the c-store during the anniversary this year?

To put it simply, many players come back for the scheduled yearly events such as those of the Anniversary, Summer and Winter. The news that the yearly Summer Event may be pushed back to make room for a major expansion may come as a shock to many players whom expected the Summer Event to be in it's place, but it is understandable. This expansion has been hyped for quite some time now and gathered quite a following. Pushing it back to make way for a regularly scheduled event may kill off some of the hype, which would be bad for the plans of future expansions.

While I personally would prefer to see the Summer Event stick to it's regular release time frame, pushing it back will have benefits for both the players and the developers. With all the work on Victory Is Life, it's quite likely that the Summer Event may not have much new content if it were to release right after the expansion. With a delay in the release, there will be time to provide more stable and satisfying content.

Yes, I'm not at all pleased about it the more I think about it. I've had lots of issues with Dranuur Colony World, and the only comfort I had was, at least by Summer Event I'll be able to get powerboards. Does anyone have any guess as to how tiresome it is playing mini games (no one else wants to) over, and over day after day? So I made additional characters to help, only to discovery powerboards weren't offered. So the characters had to run up one side of the horseshoe shaped island, then all the way back around and across to the other end of the horseshoe to do the more repetitive mini games which takes up a lot of time doing extremely repetitive tasks.

So, why couldn't there be a special Dranuur Colony World powerboard (or floaters), made available to fleet members only as an incentive to join fleets for Colony World?
No, let's wait nearly seven months for summer event to purchase powerboards.

But, no instead let's talk about the expansion that's been mentioned daily for the last 3 months. I am beginning to wonder if the designers of this game understand what's expected of players, or how annoying it is. Gaming is supposed to be "fun"? Dranuur, hasn't been fun at all for most. A Dranuur Beach Assault PvE that rarely fills. An Invasion Simulation most do not want to play, no powerboards to get around, and now expansion time worry about instead?

Eh, you just do the usual art-beats-science thing and give them curves anyway, because that way they parse visually as "female" for all us Earth-evolved humanoid mammals that the game is designed for.

It's not better value, it's not even anywhere near to equal value, because it doesn't increase the max slots limit. And that's assuming you're even allowed to claim the slots at all (ie, not at or near the limit on any of them), a condition only revealed after buying it.

You only have to do mini-games up to the point of the first upgrades after which the colony will start generating its own provisions. And at tier 3 the project dilithium requirements are so high that small fleets will likely have so many provisions in their coffers that they'll stay around the 250k cap.

The summer and winter event occur at the same time between PC and Console players. At the moment the Console's callender is pretty full until the last week of this month.

So most likely the Summer Event will begin by the end of June.

I love doing the Risian Festival every year and am really looking forward to it this summer. It will bring a nice break from the fighting if you run it along side the expansion. But I have noticed a complete lack of information on it this year, and I've begun to wonder if you are even going to have it. Can you tell us if you will have it and give us an idea of when it will be? Much appreciated....

Well they used to give us more warning, up until several years ago. Still, thanks for the heads up, I was really beginning to wonder. I can wait a few weeks for it.

Ah, the good old days. Back in 2013, the first time it ran, they announced it 3 days before it started. In 2014, there was 2 days' notice. In 2015, we got 9 days' notice, but with no details, probably because there were no new activities that year, but they were retiring Lohlunat Pearls. In 2016, there was 3 days' notice. Then, last year, we got 9 days notice again.

About a week in advance seems to be about right, with more than half of them getting less than a full week of hype.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

Well, Cryptic Devs kinda have a loooonnggg week in front of them. I don't doubt we will hear any news for at least that. Well, besides those of the inevitable emergency patches.
