Reward: Tsunkatse Gloves
I'm not really into cosmetics myself, but i think that many will be stoked by this new option in the tailor.
Sompek runs are fun (at least for someone who enjoys ground combat).
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."
-Lord Commander Solar Macharius
Also a must for going through the Coliseum episode - the provided weapons in the episode are not the best (and until some time ago the better weapons were accessible only after you did not need them anymore)...
Two weekend events in a row?
Unusual. Given we just had something, I was really hoping (and expecting) there was nothing this weekend.
Hopefully I'll have time to do it.

This does make one wonder if a complete Tsunkatse outfit (presumably analogous to a martial arts gi) will find its way into the wild eventually... a bit of Google-fu reminded me that yes, the gloves and falchion both are a nod to a certain VOY episode.

Indeed they are. It is most unfortunate that the arena is not available year-round, with the special events coming up every now and again (see: Crystalline Catastrophe/Cataclysm; Into the Breach).
On another note, perhaps after they get ViL running hot, straight, and normal someone could get to work on alternative arenas (it does use a holodeck, after all, so there's plenty of room to get creative). As for how these multiple arenas are handled, a few possible methods present themselves (not that these are not mutually exclusive):
rotation: the chosen arena changes every so often. Example, all queues which ready up between 0100 and 0159 will use layout A; those between 0200 and 0259; et cetera;
dedicated queues: there is a queue for each arena;
random: the arena is picked for the queue when it readies up
I usually only do the bare minimum for the token, marks, & dilithium, but at least this event is fun & it is entertaining hearing about a few attempting the highest round levels.
No thanks. I don't recall if they ever got rid of the self-inflicted root for melee that is a terrible holdover from CoH/CoV. Considering enemies don't really like to be stationary in this game, it's an aggravation. And with Stealth Module being worthless, melee has a horribly narrow niche(looking at you, Defera ground zone). Other than Borg, how many enemies really will stand and suffer you doing martial arts combos, not counting the early early KDF missions? Sure as **** not the Tzenkethi who slap you down when they swing on you. PvP maybe?

From my own experiences, this seems to more of an issue for lirpas and bat'leths than the various swords and the Voth katars. Further study is in order... and as long as we're here, why aren't melee weapons craftable again?

They are? I'll have to do some more research, because the full-set bonus from the Romulan covert-ops package is quite amusing.

Being able to slow/root the tangos does help with this. Stun grenades, electro-gravitic field, and armor fusing come to mind... and the alt-fire from the Nausicaan lance. Hmmm...
Holy bums on seats batman are player numbers really that bad that you're having another population boost weekender event?
Saw this in game yesterday and was sure it was cryptic messing up.
Another melee weapon is pointless when there's not any real need to have more than one BUT after this I'll be around 6-7 days ahead on tokens for the next reward unlock making the next maru completely skippable.

Hopefully the Tsunkatse means we will get a Dwayne Johnson boff
Great - just what I needed - a good melee weapon account unlock for my new alts
Edit:
Hey, can we get a Secondary Deflector in next weeken event? - There is no Secondary Deflector in any episode rewards...
I have to use the one given with the Dyson Science ship that was the event version one just to have something not standard. And to keep it available to reclaim, I have to have that Dyson in my ship list because if I discharge, the deflector vanishes from the reclaim area.

Why should i care for melee weapons, those are the worst.

that lightning gun? it's still in the week end store... could of picked it up instead of the engines if you wanted too.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
This. The pulsewave hasn't been available since the TERRIBLE 2 week Sompek event. An experience so bad, it's the reason so many players don't have it.
ah I see... they will add it to the phoenix box in the future. other 14 req weapons like the shotgun is in the phoenix box.
Anyways... for the upcoming weekend event... I'll just have to decide between my Drone Master and my Cryomancer.
Yea... I got a sci that has all cryo kit modules.
That last weekend Kobayashi Maru was hideous.
You mean it cheats harder every time, like how the lightning doesn't blast npcs.
All the npcs in STO cheat hard as it is, they don't need atmospherics to assist them.
At least there's always a carrot with the stick.
The nothing in caps made me smile.
About time we got pugilistic. Too much pew pew. We need 3 different ways to pummel someone just like young Kirk did in almost every episode!
