So tons of people want an end game Connie/T'liss/D7(K't'inga)/Khenn but don't/won't shuck out the absurd buckets of $$ or EC to get them at current market prices. I'm sure there are a few others that came out of Promotion! boxes or other sources as well.
So how about this:
Fleet t6 versions, no specialist seating, no ship trait, no special weapon or console, "just" the ship and normal seating and t1-4 mastery. This gives Cryptic their money, retains the value of the originals, and lets the rest of us pick a favorite ship to fly.

honestly, if they don't have the specialist seating, they're not T6. You might as well ask for a T5/T5-U Connie since that's essentially what it is close to.
oh Im sure itll get ignored, but nothing ventured, nothing gained eh?
Most specialist seating is highly overrated garbage, I rarely slot more than 2 spec powers.
R&D promo boxes keep the staff paid and the servers running. If they cut off their funding, hilarity will not ensue.
did you two actually read the proposal? The "value" of the promo ships remains, they keep their consoles/weapons, and traits and spec seating.
Or dont bother with gimmick seating since it doesnt do THAT much for them and not make the price equally absurd as the existing ones.
I do like the potential behind the requirements being high like that tho.

Druks right.
The "rarity" of the ship model itself needs to be considered by OP.
As it is right now, The T6 Connie is a very, very rare/exclusive ship, that only a select few have had the means/luck to acquire.
Its a status symbol much like a high end Porsche or Ferrari in RL.
If everyone could have a look alike model on the cheap, the high end versions would no longer have such a strong appeal to wealthy car enthusiasts. They'd simply move on to next hard to obtain car model.
The idea is that they stand out from the crowd, and not blend into the ether of everyday people.
If a discount T6 Connie (even a T5) were to be released in the c-store. How many people do you think would stop pursuing the Real Deal T6 version ?
Demand would immediately fall off for the vast majority of T6 Connie seekers. Many would simply buy the C-store version for a mere 30 bucks and forget about chasing that shiny, shiny (so shiny) T6 version.
They'd be satisfied with their "near" end game connie and move on.
So while I can understand the OPs POV.. it doesn't really make sense for the well being of the game in the long run.
And tbh, I was pretty annoyed at the time they announced the Promo! T6 Connie, much like OP probably was. I felt a bit shafted, or that the devs had made a mistake.
But after much time and thought on the matter (and more then a few threads of debate), I've come to the realization some time ago that the Promo Connie was the best course of action for the well being of the game.
I know it sucks OP, to not be able to have the nicer things in life. But that's the reality of the society we live in, it's a capitalist system. Not communism. Or even socialism.
And how boring would it be if everybody had the same ships under these other economic systems.
It's like everyone driving a VW beetle in pre war Germany. Car of the people.
Nothing shiny.. nothing to aspire to. Nothing to motivate hard work.
Drab, grey, status quo. Everywhere.
It's not a world I want to live in.
Just some food for thought for OP.
> No thanks, I'd prefer the game not go under.

> If you want one of the luxury ships bad enough you'll get it, if you don't want it that badly you wont.
This is so true, if you really want it, then you have it, no matter what price.
Don't expect to buy a Ferrari for 10k $
you can put the guts of your metaphorical VW in a ferarri shell, it still wont be a ferarri. Sure there would be a temporary spike in connie sightings but it wont last, look at the JJprize and vengeance, on release you couldnt go 2 seconds without seeing a dozen of them everywhere. Now, while common, they're not everywhere. One of the main selling points is the 'freedom to choose' or the 'space barbie' as many call it. You want your high end ferarri with all the special stuff you'll go get your ferarri, not a cheap body look alike job with the guts of a corvette or VW or whatever other metaphorical car you want to name.
yall also ignoring the fact that the idea also focuses on other, sometimes completely unobtainable, designs such as the Khenn. This isn't solely about endgame connies ffs. Yer also ignoring the fact that Fleet Modules cost $$, so cryptic still gets its money. Even if you buy yer modules off the ex someone paid $$ somewhere.

The whole attraction of these ships also is the rarity, the status symbol of owning one. Put an imitation version in the c-store and the real thing loses its exclusivity. They just become cheap bootlegs of the real deal.
You mean post '47; the few pre-war beetles were given to government officials, and not one Beetle went to anyone who filled out their 5 books of stamps, and once the war was on the Beetle was basically not produced; 630 Beetles in the war before the Allies bombed the heck out of the factory to stop them producing all the military vehicles it was doing.
Post war production was restarted in '45, but it wasn't until '47 when the 20,000 ordered by the British army were delivered that civilians could get them new.
I really don't care what other people drive so rarity means nothing to me. I could never understand the mentality of those glitterati who get all bent out of shape because two of them showed up to a phoney party in the same red dress.
If, as some have said, this is basically a single person game disquised as an MMO then it really shouldn't matter about what anyone else has. And if it is truly an MMO then if another person or persons in your Fleet has one too it shouldn't matter either. If it does, you're either in the wrong Fleet or you shouldn't be in a Fleet anyway.
Knockoff Gucci bags or whatever never ended up lowering the price of the real one. It just let others bask in that crazy headed notion that they too had a Goocci (sic).

I like the alternative spec seating idea, it reminds me of the T6 Sovereign promo they did.
Your reading comprehension is really low isn't it? I do not spend 12hrs a day playing STO, I said you did. If I could/did spend 12hrs a day on STO, I'd probably be as delusional as you as to what is reasonable pricing.
Just because it has not happened yet, does not make it unreasonable... wtf
