I don't buy it. It certainly sounds plausible, but that's not information a viewer needs, in order to become interested in watching the show. It's tying specifically into people's awareness of Kirk and Spock, rather than drawing interest in its own points of interest. It still requires audience awareness or sentimentality to work as a hook for their interest.
It's certainly enough information to pique my interest. Seems like it's enough information to interest a lot of other people too.

@rattler2: The reason Nick Fury is a black guy in the movies has to do with the Ultimate comic series. Originally he was drawn as a white guy, but Ultimate being an AU, the writers were freer to deviate from canon (to the extent that Marvel has one) than in Earth-616, and one of them decided to base Ultimate!Nick Fury on Sam Jackson (presumably for reasons of badass). Jackson agreed to let them use his likeness* on condition that he got right of first refusal if the character made it to film.
* Pesky thing about IP law: likenesses of real people belong to the person. That keeps us from recreating canon characters in the Foundry, and it's also the reason why Worf and Sela didn't initially look anything like their canon appearances in game.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone

But if this is in the TOS universe, aren't the Klingons supposed to look like Puerto Ricans and dress in gold lamé? Now they look like heavy metal rockers from the dead. With leather pants and frizzy hair and lobsters on their heads.

If you would like to discuss fallacies, make sure to educate yourself first on what they are rather than using words or phrases you do not understand the meaning of.
Argumentum ad populum (argument or appeal to the public). This is the fallacy of trying to prove something by showing that the public agrees with you. This fallacy is nearly identical to argumentum ad numerum. Argumentum ad numerum (argument or appeal to numbers). This fallacy is the attempt to prove something by showing how many people think that it's true. But no matter how many people believe something, that doesn't necessarily make it true or right. This fallacy is very similar to argumentum ad populum, but when a distinction is made between the two, ad populum is understood to designate an appeal to the opinions of people in the immediate vicinity, perhaps in hope of getting others to jump on the bandwagon, whereas ad numerum is used to designate appeals based purely on the number of people who hold a particular belief. The distinction is a fine one, and in general the terms can be used interchangeably in debate rounds.
Perhaps you should familiarize Yourself, with the notion of the Complex Statement: Complex Statements, aka begging the question, are sentences which are hyperbolous words dressed up as a statement. It's essentially the same fallacy as a Complex Question, but it's being expressed as a statement, rather than as a question. A complex question is a question that implicitly assumes something to be true by its construction. A question like this is fallacious if the thing presumed true has not been established.
And as you're veering into argumentum ad hominem by suggesting that I don't understand what I'm talking about, once again, I'm going to consider your posts as trolling, and treat them accordingly

This is nice you know how to use Google and Wikipedia. However, you still don't understand the meaning or the concept.
"It's certainly enough information to pique my interest." - This is true. I am speaking only for myself based on my own personal opinion.
"Seems like it's enough information to interest a lot of other people too. " - This is also true as clearly evidenced by posts made by others on this forum in this and other threads on the topic.
Nowhere am I saying that the show will be good (or bad) solely because other people said so and that you MUST agree based on the opinions of others. You are completely entitled to make up your own mind. I am only offering a different perspective as I am allowed to.
You will also note I have not degenerated into name calling as you have by labelling anyone who does not agree with you as a "troll", so perhaps you might want to stop bringing up "ad hominem" as you do not understand the concept and you are essentially the pot calling the kettle black.
And once again, you are making a complex statement: I understand precisely what I am saying and the meanings of the fallacies I have pointed out. That you say I do not, does not make what you have said true.
Strawman. I'm not labelling you a troll because you disagree with me, I'm labelling you a troll, because you insist on attempting to keep getting my attention and pursuing a meaningless dialogue, even after I say that I'm finished with the conversation with you.
I've invited artan to explain their views, they've apparently declined to do so. That doesn't mean that I invite, or welcome you, to continue the conversation, or answer on their behalf.
Respond to me again in this manner, and I won't provide rebuttal to your lies, I'll simply report you for trolling.

These aliens could be a crossbreed between klingons and some other race, as we know from previous Trek that Klingons will breed with anything, just like humans do. Thus we have weird lizard-looking true Klingons.
My 2 cents: I like this explanation. They're Klingon/Gorn half-breed. They're KLINGORN.

Same here. The Kobali necro-thread one is hilarious!
I actually enjoy seeing people get modded with those pics. That is the most clever way of dealing with things that I've seen. It catches attention and gets the point across. And the best part? Its Star Trek related and using assets from STO!
Thanks again, guys. I took some recent critiques to heart and scaled down the images. I also got rid of the various colored borders and went with just blue, yellow, and red to indicate various degrees of modding. There are others I want to make but finding good pics of particular in-game assets can be difficult. I've been too busy running MI to take any myself.
