Why don't Romulan cruisers got cruiser commands?

lianthelialianthelia Member Posts: 7,891 Arc User
Is this day and age the game is in it seems unfair that they don't...especially since Romulan Escorts get heavy weapons and Science ships get a secondary deflector.

Romulan ships suffer so many disadvantages and were hurt with the Leech nerf, I don't see a single reason why they shouldn't get access to cruiser commands.

They get the singularity core commands and generally the enhanced battle cloack

What should be complained about is how the Romulan equivalent of the Arbiter/Kurak (sp) only has 7 weapons instead of 8.

I personally would not mind if we could have the option to choose between having the cruiser commands, or the singularity core commands. Like that if you were using a warp core the ship would have the cruiser commands, but if you used the singularity core it give you the singularity commands.

Honestly both sets of abilities/buffs are quite nice. Unless you have three other cruisers in your group with you, than you are basically gimping yourself if you do not have at least one of the (weapon shield or turn rate) buffing command auras active. While the singularity commands have a lot of verity in the manner you can utilize them.

And? Warbirds got heavy weapon slots...warbirds got secondary deflectors...is no reason at all not to get cruiser commands.

5 seconds? I make heavy use of the turn rate one all the time! Lasts a LOT longer than 5 seconds.

Those cruiser commands are beyond useless, they last for what 5 seconds if that. Worthless.

I think you are mistaking the five second (not even sure it is a five second even here) internal cool-down between switching auras for a duration, since the auras have an unlimited duration so long as you have one toggled on. Though I will say that I wish the range that the cruiser command auras have would be increased, and having a method of your ship switching to a non-active cruiser command aura if the aura you have active at the time overlaps with another cruiser using the same aura.
  • postinggumpostinggum Member Posts: 1,117 Arc User
Those auras are similar to additional free system power, and the uniqueness of the Rom ships is the loss of system wide power in exchange for battle cloak and singularity clickies. Most of the time the free power would be better than a clicky you're not gonna use anyway. In PVE I don't see people using the clickies very often, yet anyone that has a cruiser aura uses it.

What?, do you mean the weapon-shield-movement-attract fire?, because i use them all the time and really helps a lot!, if you mean the command abilities of the cruisers?, then no, the inspiration mechanic is too slow to use..

Singularity powers, enhanced battle Cloak, every ship can equip dual cannons.

As someone who primarily please Klingons and Romulans not every faction needs to have access to stuff the other faction has.

If you want cruiser commands use one of the event ships, or doesn't one of the temporal ships have it, from the cross faction three pack?

Now what the Romulans should have is the ability to purchase a the Fleet D7 if they are Klingon allied, both the fleet version and the retrofit so you can upgrade to T5u.

But you'll lose the enhanced battle cloak and have to use a warp core.

The T'Laru doesn't have subsystem targeting. It should. Warbird battlecruisers should also have those 3 cruiser commands, but they don't. Romulans don't have a single battlecruiser with sensor analysis, while Feds and KDF have one each.

In a sense, you could say Romulan ships are more balanced against the other faction offerings because of these drawbacks, and one can't claim warbirds are superior in every way.

Don't forget, there's a price of lower subsystem power levels, and a singularity charge starship leveling-trait as penalties for having access to singularity cores with their abilities. Singularity overcharge benefits also comes at the cost of some stealth rating if not used properly.

After taking a look at the tooltips a bit better I can accept I misread it. Still doubt I'd ever use them outside of maybe a story mission, just a hassle, no room for them on my hotbars, no time to bother moving to mouse over to underneath the weapon box (cause the stuff is already dead).

Fully understandable on that.. I normally bind either the four cruiser commands, or the carrier commands to a group of of four mouse located buttons I have (or to hot-key binds on my keyboard that are vacant). That way I just click the corresponding mouse/keyboard button to switch to what I need based on the situation, whither that be the reduced weapon power cost aura or the increased turn rate an speed aura (even the shield buffing aura can be nice against some targets).
  • postinggumpostinggum Member Posts: 1,117 Arc User
I tend to think 'oh I should have used the singularity power', right after blowing up, but when available always have the command aura going.

Thing is, cryptic will never give the player the flexibility to have the ship they really want, because as soon as they do the player has no incentive to keep going for the next ship and next ship....

I think the top dpser on leader board is Romulan tac. So Im not sure what you mean by "so many disadvantages"

Yes...because every Romulan flies a T6 Scimitar and spends millions to billions of EC to min/max it?

I don't know why you even mention that because the Scimitar isn't a Cruiser...so it wouldn't be affected by this change.

If the powers suck so bad and so many people don't even bother using them then why do you even care if Romulans get them?

What little advantages Romulans have get smaller and smaller...more ships than ever have Battle Cloak, including not only lock box but faction ships...does the defiant have to lose 40 power for the cloak? Do the Na'kuhl?

Those Singularity powers aren't that good...the singularity cores just plain suck...you'd think I was asking for our 40 power back or for them to triple or quadruple the potency of singularity powers.

Just asking for one simple thing on a hand full of ships...I just don't get why Cruisers have to suffer when the other types of warbirds are getting all of the perks.

Tactical Warbirds aren't being restricted from using heavy weapons...Science Warbirds aren't being restricted from using SST, SA, or Secondary Deflectors...

All of these things affect the battle more than cruiser commands...yet so many people seem okay with that and get so triggered when I ask for something that multiple posts in this thread have called useless or not worth the time?

Well I will admit, my indifference on the topic could be due to the fact the only ROM ships I uses regularly are the Malem, Morrigu, Hathos, Faeht, Vet ship, Kara, and Tactical Dyson Destroyer.

Of those ships one 1 would be eligible, the Kara, and it's classification would only give it two commands anyways

Well Romulans can have a really high Crth/d from traits and their BoFFs that they get from just playing. You say sing cores aren't that good but actually they are as they build power over time. I personally don't use the sing powers that much (except for quantum absorption but only in a pinch) but even then they're pretty good. All Romulan ships have battle cloak and I think some one here mentioned that they all can equip Cannons. Scimitar is considered as a dreadnought and all dreadnoughts have 2 cruiser commands: Attract fire and weapon system efficiency. In my opinion adding cruiser commands to Romulan ships would just simply make the way over powered.

well, according to gecko, romulans were intended to be overpowered from the start, so bring on the cruiser commands! or failing that, megabuff the useless singularity powers

Or complain about the fact rommies have to pay the full price for a rep based warpcore if they already have the singularity core,
