Simply no because I have no desire to stroke someone else's ego and Online PvP is a breeding ground universally for trolls. One guy in the DPS channels was saying to make it possible to attack people without consent. Biggest game killer ever!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
Maybe I will with fleet or friends assuming I even see any logged in, but otherwise no longer interested.
PvP in STO is pay2win, there will never be balance with power-creep, there are no fun maps or game modes, the rewards aren't there, most PvPers already quit STO permanently with Delta Rising and years of neglect, and finally there still is no system to enforce custom game rules.
I play Overwatch for PvP, and while that's far from perfect with bugs, netcode choices and limitations, and some horrific balance problems, it can be a lot of fun and very rewarding more so than frustrating and rage-inducing. There's also seasonal PvE coop outside of worthless bot AI such as the last Halloween event ("My servants will never die!") which they will repeat and continue to expand upon in the future, along with custom browser matches, capture the flag, competitive, etc. etc.
I'm also waiting on Midair to be released for some excellent F2P balanced PvP. Those developers are long-time enthusiasts since the days of Tribes, and I have full confidence that they'll deliver something flawless to continue the Legions: OD legacy.
At this point, I wish STO just worked on making a better more challenging and varied PvE experience, and even doing mixed PvP/E, since its game engine caters to something like this really well.
A final thing to note, the bugs in STO are terrible, and the response times and near-constant failures of activating any power be it space or ground is completely unacceptable for any skill-based PvP.
Rebalancing the classes won't fix PVP. PVP is garbage in this game and will continue to be so. Not touching it because it isn't worth it.

I'll probably try and organize matches within my fleet and among friends, but I doubt that I'll go back in to open PvP often. The worst abuses have been reined in, and the buffs to my main (an engineer) look good, but there may be changes not WAI initially and running into a gank or 15-3 curbstomp is still not fun.
PvP to me is loading up Quake 1, 2, or 3 and having at it. MMO PvP has had to much drama over the years for me to enjoy it. I stick my toe in it now and then but I rarely come back for it after trying it on a particular game. Also this game in particular has a pay to win lockbox system that really doesn't sit well with me when it comes to PvP.
If i want PVP, i'll go play World of Warships. I come to STO for the story and ships.

The problem is and always has been that you cannot optimise your skills and ship for both PvP and PvE at the same time. Until this fundamental problem is addressed you're never going to get people to switch over.
I avoid PvP whenever possible. But if Cryptic 'forces' me to do it due to some nifty thingamajig I have to get, then I'll be there long enough to get it.
Basically, I DO enjoy player vs. player content in all games... The reason I am strongly opposed to PvP in STO, is the amount of silly epeen stroking players around.
PvP'ers in STO are here for one reason it seems: Gloating whenever they make a kill, and IMO PvP is about enhancing yourself, not about gloating. And every single match I've been in, more than half the players go down that way, and it's simply not interesting for me.
Root those people out, and I am in.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
If I ever do pvp in an mmo it's the mass battle scenarios over 5v5 arenas. I think if those were to arrive in STO they'd be bugged to hell and be more a case of who's eyes don't melt first from the visual bombardment that hits you in the bigger space queues.
I did level a klink off puncturing fedballs and that was just pure tedium, even more so when they started nailing the coffin on levelling by adding in same faction pvp.
As others have said the power creep they put into the game was tsunami like so people just joining a level 60 bracket would be targ to the slaughter. An making an elite bracket wouldnt work as the epeeners probably wouldnt use it because they prefer weaker opponents.
Yes , most definitely. It used to be a very fun part of the game. Matching your build and your skills against other players, was always intense. I like many others stopped doing pvp , after Delta Rising and all the Temporal cheese was added to the game, it made it almost impossible to get a clean kill, you knock a guy down to 0% hull and he suddenly magically heals back up to 85%+ from some trait which you can only get by buying a ship or getting lucky opening boxes to get the ship for the trait.
I can remember when players would want to buy a ship for the ship itself, not for just some BS trait that you could get from it, and afterwards park the ship never to play it again, or when you blew a guy's ship up he's done, until he re-spawns. Just my 2 cents but keeping my fingers crossed that this balance thing actually works.
I understand the metrics behind the trait/ship, you got to generate funds to keep the game going. Might as well just offer the traits for sale in the zen store, think of all the time and effort that would be saved trying to come up with ships that look or have nothing to do with Star Trek, (temporal ships).
No pvp for me, its made impossible due to power activation delay, on pve advanced its okay if I hit a power twice and get nothing but in pvp its not acceptable.
Not only am I not particularly fond of PVP in general, but if I am going to partake in PVP, I prefer to play a game built around PVP, rather than as a side note to PVE.
For a whole mess of reasons, some of which others have already mentioned.
"There will never be enough blood to wash away my need for vengeance! A single world...I could destroy a million worlds and it would not be enough! Your existence is an insult to the memory of my people! I will continue my fight, even if I must fight alone!"
Yes because it's finally a reason to build up a ship other than fight the same old dumb npc's that do the exact same eveytime. IMO when endgame consists of queued missions as it does now there is no endgame, no challenge and very repetitive. I know the STO players mantra "we face challenges in real life I dont want to in-game" well get over it pvp is different everytime plus you have had seven years of content.
PvP died many years ago - Was never balanced & never will it be balanced. They missed the boat with metagame - They should have taken a page from Guild Wars or games like Overwatch - where real prize money is involved.
PvP is beyond repair:
Broken consoles
Broken Ship and personal Traits
and a very Obscure skill tree - Better than it was but still weird and obscure
Speaking of traits, I think that if you get killed while having the Zhal trait equipped it should count as 2 kills for the opposing team. Because, let's be honest, Zhal practically cancels a kill, makes skill largely unnecessary, allows you to focus a build solely on attack with no downside to it whatsoever.

However like any new content I'll certainly give it an open minded look.
