Yeah, doubt that will happen ever. And if it does, they'll cost a few thousand zen.

    Nope.

But don't worry, there will be other "recruitment" events.

Like almost every other MMO, STO has time-limited events to create spikes in user logins. If the event is not time-limited, people put off participation and the spike does not happen.

So this is very very very very very very very very very very very very very unlikely to happen. Very.

Yeah not gonna happen. If you want the rewards for a limited time recruitment event, you have to participate in that limited time recruitment event. I know I missed a lot of limited time things before I joined the game, I also know that I am not going to get those rewards.

ummm, I don't really get what you are asking for here.

are you asking to have these items available to all characters as that would be pointless, it has been expressly stated that non delta recruits and non temporal recruits will not have access to the rewards granted to these characters but will have access to the account rewards that the delta and temporal characters cannot receive themselves and as at the end the recruit rewards virtually equal to the account rewards apart for some minor omissions its rather pointless.
although new players will not have access to either which is a shame these events and the rewards for them were only ever meant to be available to players who were around during these event and not for players who joined later, although this is sad that is just the way things are, they were a limited time offer.

if you are implying that players who created characters during the event but failed to collect the devices as for some reason they didn't play to that point then this is just their own fault for not following the clear instructions that were available at the time.

in a nutshell what you are asking for will never happen.

not necessarily never, a lot of the rewards you missed you could possibly pick up by playing the phoenix boxes although it is difficult in the extreme with the ships and rightly so IMO.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Put it as an epic prize in the Phonics Box event and we will talk. In fact, that would make me spend craptons of Dilithium for the boxes. And it'd fit what the Phonics Boxes were designed to do--offer stuff that was available before for newish players.

I am fully opposed to C-Store placement, because it would make the game feel too much like Pay To Win.

I predict they'll start rerunning the old recruitment events, when they notice adding a new one every year gives players ever increasing stacking account unlock rewards.

Either that or they'll obsolete Delta for accounts made after X date.

If they are going to be monetized, then I suggest making them available for purchase from the Arc Store for $50 each or whatever the regional currency equivalent is. Also, make them available only for a limited time.
  • imperatorpaveliimperatorpaveli Member Posts: 346 Arc User
I'd also make them only purchaseable for new chars (Don't know if that was assumed or not).

How about removing unique limited time items period and giving everyone the stuff even if they didn't bother to take part in the various event? Seems like that is what you are trying to say OP. Threads like yours have been around as long as there have been limited time events. FYI those items don't really matter in the long run just a few extra Dilth really and once you are done with the various arcs they are useless. The rest of your toons get unlocked perks as those TA's and DR's advance so not really missing anything.

Devil's advocate: we do have a means of making available rewards for limited time events available again. I'm personally fine with how things are now, but if the devs are looking to expand the Phoenix box, then unique recruitment event rewards (ex. traits, holographic boff, ground devices) might be a ready source of "new" material.

Hopefully these events will come back every year or few months so that those of us who just started playing will eventually get to play the event and get the gear, ships, and items. My husband and I just started and love the retro TOS sadly we got in on the end event for temporal agent and are scrambling to get in as much quests before the event ends.

Unfortunately we work so unlike the welfare kids, or the rich we only get a few hours of play and we hate rushing through the game as we like to explore the game and take our time. It is what it is, what we do not achieve this time, hopefully we will get a chance to complete it next time event comes around.
We are on XB1 so it's new to that console, it's TRIBBLE that they won't let you use your life time PC account, but it's also nice to get a fresh start..... We just have to keep an eye out for when new events start to replay.
    See you in game....

As long as you've got your temporal transponder, you can take your time finishing the actual quests. The transponder will remain on the character permanently, even after the event.

I think still have some tasks unfinished from the PC temporal event last summer.

I'm assuming that AoY is still running on console by your statement. As long as you obtained the Temporal Transponder before the end of the Event, you're good to go. All of the objectives can be fulfilled at any time thereafter. No need to rush. It's only necessary to obtain the device during the Event to have access to the objectives.

Awesome, yes we have the Temporal Transponder nice to know we can slow down, we feel like we are missing half the game by steamrolling through all the missions.

We are working on getting the Temporal Chroniton rainbow weapons and ship gear for our temporal ships, got to grind up our reputation for them, yes I Know people hate rainbows, but it puts a smile on my face when I kill a bad guy talking smack to you with a rainbow unicorn sparkly sailer moon beam blast, ..... =^,.,^=
It's like oh you're going to peel my children's flesh off because your so evil, here have a sparkly rainbow beam to the face.... Oooh that had to hurt, lol :p
Anyways thank you for the information, nice to know we can slow down and enjoy the beautiful game.

I want a borg tactical cube with fuzzy dice on the mirror , shag carpeting , headlights so i can flash them at slow moving ships, a musical horn that plays la cookaracha, spinner hubcaps, hydraulics so i can show off at ESD.

this is the STO wish list thread isnt it? O.o

It's most likely that they will repeat the recruitment events than put in the C-Store. The problem being is that those recruits have a slightly different mission experience triggered upon creation. You can't have a 25th Century Captain using a Temporal Transponder as he/she has to start their missions in the 23rd Century, and you can't have 23rd Century Captains using the Tesseract as there are Delta Objectives during most of the same missions that have Temporal Probes. The coding for that would cause issues, simple as.

It would be easiest to do the recruitment events again.

I hate to say it, but the suggestion amounts to "please undo the specific reason these things exist at all."

These promotions aren't here for our entertainment, they're to drive in-game presence for specific periods, and to PUNISH people who don't check in to STO regularly. If you make them available continuously - by any means including real cashy-cost - you've defeated the purpose they were created to serve: diving steady player attendance.

I have to agree here. It is really "generous" of Cryptic to allow a character created during the event remains a "recruit" forever - they could just as well disable it when the event is over. For players who partook in the event all the goodies are of course a very nice bonus, but the main reason is not to reward the player. But I am fairly certain that the events get repeated at some point or new ones come around.

You mean the account unlocks available to any account that participated and unlocked said unlocks on the recruit character? Because I believe all characters, old and new, can claim said items once they hit lv 20 by going to their faction's Temporal Officer (Allied included for Romulans).

Honestly what I would prefer seeing in the Phoenix Box is the Kobali outfit. Or have that restored as a reward from the episode Dust to Dust.

If it was stripped on the account wide mark and dil rewards perhaps.

Or as part of the phoenix box it got added to the sacrificeyourfirstbornandweepwhenyoudontgetit tier of rewards.

If you were late for that recruitment then simply wait for the inevitable next one once numbers fade and they need another bums on seats "event".

no point in going there until you hit 60 on new character, because most of the story arc reward packs are level-locked, which is stupid

All the account rewards should be locked tight, to prevent people exploiting them by creating new toons then deleting after claiming the dil.
