It is but the more people send news of this to their friends and fleets, the more people hear of it and potentially tell others, then it's just a matter of critical mass.
The problem though is that the fact there are only five or six of us that I know of, doesn't help, nor does the difference in timezones.
Thanks @jackmorgan1149 About my experience in Kerrat teamed up with him, tell me again about the rules because I got hit by a black poo and I was like " lol " xD
as i recall, the rules were 'whatever your ironman can afford with resources it, and ONLY it, managed to scrape together'
the elachi subspace console is only about a million or so EC last i looked (which was admittedly several months ago) so even never leaving ker'rat, that can be scraped together fairly quickly if you fight the borg between matches
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.
In the chaos of their battle, I bring order.
I am a shadow, darkness born from light.
The Force is united within me.
The guy who I think is doing the challenge (had 'Iron' in the name) did not use any of that stuff. The other fellow that was in there with him was the poo flinger.
Not everyone who flies in Kerrat is doing the challenge. There will be folks who arm their Lt. Commander to the gills with lockbox universal consoles, MKIV Ultra rare with your favorite mods consoles, and the best doffs money can buy for their build. This is to be expected.
I am finding it difficult to earn monies though. The market for gear at the bottom end is just all over the place and there's really no stability. Most of the equipment you earn and try to hock is not going to make you a lot of cash, if it even sells at all... You get VR items from destroying the facility, but unless you get weapons with the proper mods, there's not a lot of ec to be made. I just earned enough to buy another training manual from the trainer by selling a phaser turret.
You can earn 1500 dil on a daily in Kerrat. More money to be made if the q's pop, but I believe those are dailies now too, right? I know there is a little cash to be made with contraband. The klingon dilithium force also has a few more options for earning dil daily via doffs.
Other thoughts? I mean, just buying batteries is pretty expensive for me atm.
Hmm... I burned through close to 55k today on my Ironman toon, even managed to trade a resist console and a decent set of shields to Kogar, this just from running the instance perhaps 7 times (I did ninja a couple) but sadly a lot of the money making options are RNG dependant, though it does become easier at lvl 11 as the doff system opens up so you can get some predictable stuff there.
Try asking some of the people you fight if they have some gear they aren't going to use and if they're willing to trade it to you. You can invite opposing faction characters to your ship bridge to make any such trades.
Well, in the short term selling doffs would work but when you have so few resources and replacing them so difficult as this, one really has to think long term.
Do you guys know of a work around for this on the KDF end?
First off, don't do the bonus exp weekend. That way it doesn't make things worse for you.
Secondly, try to only do the crucial missions to get clear of the story. I think you can get freed up at level 10/Khitomer/Torg both if you are careful. I am trying to confirm this with a Rom, and a KDF at this time. I will be glad to share what I find out.
My only hang up in getting back quickly on this is that I am working 18 hours a day split shifts for the weekend, so I have to fit sleep and food in there. I'l keep inching forward.
Oh yeah, I have an advantage in that I have a ship for each faction, and each tier already unlocked on my account. Patrickngo was saying he didn't mind if we used that option, but if I am the only one who has it, I would feel it was a tad dishonorable in that case.
Keep the faith!
Qapla!
Maybe we can make the level requirement 11 or 12 ? We can kick it around at least.
I did confirm that you can get out by level ten on the KDF if you stick with the main story and no bonus to XP. Still easing the Rommie forward.
Had some gf's with spaceeagle and admiralklinger tonight. Outside of those guys, not much. Figure most of the battles occurred between 4-5pst. Fun. Thanks Klinger for getting after it and having a great attitude. Spaceeagle is the man.
I think weekend events would be fun. Might also bring out the curious. Think massive battles would do the trick. I'm willing to chip in on rewards. Getting a bunch of folks into Kerrat at once would be a nice event. Think I might hang at 10-19 until we can build up a regular bunch.
in the words of a wise man... have fun, kill bad guys
keeping it at 10-19 is one reason I plan on having three or four toons involved. Massive battles sound good.

Yeah, that trade was a good way to add to our options
So should I keep doffs to run missions? Or should I sell them to make ec?
I'd keep them, or the other thing, I'd consider them fair game for Fleet contributions, so you can earn that toons right to Fleet gear eventually. I'm not sure that the EC is worth it. I only sell prisoners because I get so many marauding that I can't just sell them all to orions, and the rest I am careful with. maybe I'll execute one now and then ...
On the idea of earning your toons FC by donating doffs, you can also use FC to buy new doffs at the Fleet starbase. Think of it as an officer exchange program. It is also a resource you would be earning and I am pretty sure it fits the rules in place.
As an afterthought, I am pretty sure that 'Tour the Galaxy' is disallowed, though it is pretty much all about EC. Am I correct? Anyone?

Qapla'!
TTG is PvE, and not covered in the exception amendment.
Fleet gear-if you earned your way into it-is perfectly okey-dokey for the Ironman-there are PvP wrappers that pay out moderate FC, and Dilithium, and Dil can be used in fleet projects.
@jackmorgan1149 thanks for the info : I forgot there are guys in this game creating other toons and ending up in Kerrat, which is rare btw
So I hear talking about levelling up only through pvp and grinding your stuff in Kerrat; unfortunately, I am playing 2 other pvp-based games, make it 3 with normal STO so I don't know if I have time to grind for that toon without doing any PvE or other stuff ( e.g. the XP doff assignments you buy at the exchange) but I can fly to Kerrat if you need people for some skirmish.
The mindset which suits me the best at the present moment is the old Vanilla PvP mindset, which is to adhere to any rule and/or restriction in terms of personal traits, doffs, consoles, weapons and so on : e.g. if you ban black poo ( which is not that bad after all lol it's just an example), I won't use black poo; if you allow it, I'll just buy it with my account resources if I think it's worth it for my gameplay style.
My favorite part of this idea is to be available for fights at an approachable gear level. In fact, that's all I really care about. Part of the purpose of "no assistance" is to improve your personal development, but I think the bigger part is to be available without a power crutch.
I for one will not use lockbox consoles on my toons as they're coming up. I have been limiting myself to one uni console at a time out of the few I have available. All of my gear is currently (and will likely remain cuz grind) Rk II.
I may decide to just craft all new gear at each rank level, but craft it at the level below (rk IV items at Commander and so on). That would give me VR IV's which equates to a power level of VI uncommon, and a few mods... but I wouldn't take em if they were x2 or better. That still leaves me up to 4 levels lower than the competition on power (but probably only 2 for most) That would remove me from the challenge, but it would allow me to be flexible and create builds without grinding kerrat borg pve for equipment. Which sucks.
The only other concern is doffs. I'll have to think about that one.
Not overpowered, actually leveling from pvp as opposed to pve. It's on my brain.
So ... in the spirit of trying to attract people I talked this up to a few more people today, and got at least some interest. Both of the two who are most likely to show are also not such big fans of PvP from prior experience. Not sure what levels exactly but I'm expecting about level 12 - 18.
One may be a 23rd century toon, and I have not had time to think about how that may affect things. They do actually lose a lot of their benefit if they are being taken out of PVE.
Right now I am expecting up to three to contact me in the AM (7 pacific approx) to try this. I was sort of hoping we could have something going on at Ker'rat by 8 am pacific to make the sale. I'll be there with a KDF and I can sub in with a UFP if needed.
I'l check here in the AM when I am about to log on and check postings.
OK, was there and decided two things. First, I'm leveling to fast from not PvP, due to PvE Borg, and Doff missions. Second, BoP is much better when it isn't nose to nose most of the fight, which is what happens when you only have one of each side.
Stiil had fun. I am behind on grinding. I'll still show up Wednesday, but I may be cycling through other toons who are doing the grind so I will be hoping that nobody pops in and then leaves right away.
also. Partickngo mentioned a Fox and Hounds alternative for PvP and I think we may need to explore that further. One higher tier ship chased by a number of lower tier ships was the concept. Does anyone have any thoughts on it?

well, it'll have to be a private match if the actual character levels are different, so it'll have to be prearranged.
OK, I'm having a tech failure on my home network. I'm slowed down a lot till I fix it. Meanwhile I will be focusing on noncombat fleet grinds for the next couple of days so that those commitments don't fall to far behind. Sorry if I miss anything for this challenge. :
It will give some of you a chance to get a level or two at least, and I will be back in the fight soon anyway.
