Game Freeze/Crash During Map Transfers

I apologise if this has already been discussed. If so, could someone please link me to the appropriate forum topic. Thanks!

---

Hi there folks,

I've been having a serious issue with playing STO for quite some time, where, during various map transfers, the game will freeze/crash and requires me to restart the game in entirety. This problem has been plaguing me since the Iconian War season, where, unless I launched the game in Safe Mode, I could not play STO at all.

Presently, I have all my graphics settings to minimum, and I have to still launch in Safe Mode, with the game only booting up if I use the EU Proxy. (I'm in Australia for reference). I have searched for answers in the past, and one suggested option was to change the DirectX code in one of the core files for the game, which I have done, and use the command line to ensure launch, however, the command line option did not work (the game didn't/doesn't even open).

All applicable drivers have been updated (graphics, directX, etc) so I am unsure as to what the issue could be. I have put my computer specs below for reference.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this issue?

EDIT: I've also had to run the game in windowed mode because full screen either doesn't load or crashes the client if done mid game.

---

SPECS

OS: Windows 10 Home (Build 14393 | 10.0.14393)
HDD: 750GB
Ram: 4GB
CPU: Dual Core Intel Pentium G2030 @ 3.00GHz
DirectX: DirectX 12
Graphics: nVidia GeForce GT 620 1GB

If you need any other information regarding my specs, please let me know

There hasn't really been a thread on this that I've been able to see, although a few of them kind of have similar problems. For me, I've been having this exact problem ever since the last patch. I play on high graphics, and it's doing this to me quite often now. I don't have a solution to it myself as the game has become unplayable as a result. I keep listening to see if they're going to address it, but they're not doing anything about it. Until they do, the game is sort of dead to me because I just can't play it.

When I was having this issue, it was because the Video Memory Limit (Options > Advanced) had defaulted to 128mb. Put it up to 1024+mb and see if that helps

I'll look into that tonight. Thanks for the comment.

I'm actually facing the same problem recently - I will try your suggestion - hopefuly it will resolve the issue.

Yeah, same here. I tried it, thought it worked, and then froze at the end of a Borg alert (same as every time before).

I don't seem to have this option. If I do, I can't find it :(

So, I seem to have discovered a second issue... all my options I set in game keep reverting back to defaults; that is, none of my changes are saving, even after pressing Apply and Ok, and restarting the game where required.

Likely, this is due to Safe Mode being activated.

load the game just one time in safe mode. make the changes after that load normal.
