Depends on the race. A race that slaughters countless races for whatever reason requires doing whatever is necessary to make sure there are no more victims caused by that race. It would be nice if someone said "STOP IT!" and they apologized for all the harm they have caused, but fiction has far too many races where the only way to stop them is their complete destruction.
Someone from a specific species had to create the Borg virus and infect their species or an enemies' species with it to create the Borg. Then there is the process of assimilation which introduces biological ... distinctiveness from alien races into the Borg which seems very similar to reproduction. The Borg are not a natural species, but they are certainly an artificial species.
The Borg Origine is a species, yes, but are they still?
It became a potpourri of species.
Hell, they even got a few Undine (if I follow STO, that is).
Soon, the Iconians are Borgified as well.
Klingons don't get drunk.
They just get less sober.
That is so short through the corner, you must have hit the pub.
How can, for one, a society NOT be a society?
Even a society with no free will is STILL a society!
Klingons don't get drunk.
They just get less sober.

The Borg fit what it means to be a species even if it is not the standard model that requires sexual reproduction. They reproduce and evolve through assimilation. If Starfish is considered a species with asexual reproduction, then the Borg is a species with their assimilation.
How they reproduce is not of any matter, is it.
FACT is that thousands of species are within the Borg, thus, it is no longer a species, but a COLLECTIVE of species.
And all live "happily" (lol) side by side.
Which can be seen as a utopian form of life.
Aside, you DID read the book of Utopia, I hope?
In there is a LOT what the Borg represent...
Hmmmm...
Who knows, Thomas Moore might have gotten his mustard from them... After all, the Borg DO Time Travel.

If you had the power to exterminate and you did, news would quickly spread. That would make it easier for other races to exterminate you given the same choice since they'd be "doing the universe a favor" either as spreaders of peace or to become the next most feared force. There are always repurcussions no matter how well you'd justify it.
Are zombies a race? (Kind of surprised that the kobali were not included)
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
To be honest I think this poll's suffering from not being properly explained.
It looks like some people are voting from an "in universe" perspective while others are answering from the point of view of if you were the producer of a new Star Trek series and were given the idea of wiping out a race to shake things up.
Like the post above says, from the second pov you wouldn't wipe out the biggest threat unless you had a far bigger one waiting in the wings. That being said, Iconians and Undine aren't in the list so you could easily wipe out the Borg without the show losing it's stakes - except it's usually better to write out a more liked faction since a sudden lack of Borg wouldn't exactly set the quadrants on fire; no race would miss them.
No, nothing & no one, no power in the universe can make genocide a good thing. Not now, not ever, it is not subject to interpretation, & it absolutely does not matter what you or anyone else thinks about it.
Yep, and genocide's been happening even before the word was invented. I mean look at what the Native Amercians went through, the US government actually tried hard as possible to try and wipe 'em out, and look at how Palestinians are going through. ~plops on a football helmet, awaiting any large and/or heavy objects about to be thrown at her~
And like The Doctor from Genesis of the Daleks said, "If I wipe out an entire species, than I become like them. I become no better than the Daleks!"

You made a small error, as the Borg DO "breed" with other species.
Not through sex, true, but through assimilation.
Just this, makes them no longer be a species, but a COLLECTIVE of species....

OP, of course you voted on your own Poll. And then all the little 'Munchkins'* followed suit immediately voting from the Official Playbook, where it distinctly states in easy to follow pictures:
Bajorans Bad
Cardassians Good
*Note: No offense was intended on Munchkins.
Note further: No Munchkin was harmed in the writing of this post.

Kill one, you're called a murder.
Kill 1000, a mass murder
Kill a million, you're called a Conqueror.
Well maybe Termites,
or
Eddorians.
