If the ship you want isn't available yet, then I would wait.

Eventually, it will be there, it's best to hold out for what you really want. I know how you feel.. you hit 50.. you want your ship, but if what you want isn't there, don't spend the money.

Honestly, if those are your only choices, then I suggest patience. Don't waste your money on a ship because it has a hangar bay, the Pet AI is beyond broken and a hangar bay is actually a downside to a ship, not a plus. Usually something is taken from the ship in exchange for the hangar bay and the trade is never worth it.
    Insert witty signature line here.

I would wait on the pilot ships. That's what my own console characters are waiting on right now, I'll probably end up buying the 60$ pack that has all 3 pilot ships for all 3 factions. I havent had a chance to actually fly them yet, but from what I've seen in videos the maneuvering abilities they get (boosting 3-4k in any direction) would be exceptionally useful in STFs. I know that when I used to play on PC, getting between the transwarp conduits and gates in the borg space STF was a big deal, since you often had to stop probes from both sides from reaching the gate, and you couldnt always rely on the players on your team to do their jobs. I often ran an escort back and forth and would cover the middle ground between the two gates to kill any stragglers, so I had to be very mobile.

Even the normal escorts werent fast enough to really handle that job, but the pilot escorts have a short cooldown (12 seconds, I think?) ability to burst 3-4k in any direction, even forward, which means they're easily faster than any other ship in the game on top of having above-escort speed rating due to small size. I also hear that each time you use one of the maneuver abilities, you gain around 3 seconds of invulnerability (or for the length of the animation, nothing can hit you), which will make them extremely durable escorts compared to others, especially since I play engineer characters for the boost to power and survivability.

Plus, I happen to like how all the pilot escorts look =P

There is also the winter event on the horizon which usually brings a give away ship.

Either way, content is still in the process of being introduced for the console so being patient may be key.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Thank you for your very clear answer Dumas23, My Romulan is allied with the Federation ... He is not fan of the warrior politic of expanse of the Klingon empire...
Are you happy with your Heavy escort carrier ?

Can the Tachyon destabilizing emitter be compared to other T6 ships abilities in term of strength - Is it useful ?

Faeht by a country mile. Intel + EBC + good turn rate makes it a joy to fly.

I'm quite happy with my three escort carrier, though my Romulan toon usually flies something else. They're good all-rounder ships with a strong tactical focus and enough toughness (when well-equipped) to get out of situations some other escorts might not. I have a bad habit of forgetting about special consoles, set powers, and basically everything that's not a boff or captain skill, so I haven't used the Tachyon Emitter much. For the Fed and Romulan carriers, they're part of pretty good (or at least amusing) sets, and having a way to strip shields is often handy.

If you're unsure about what to buy, waiting is always a good choice in this game. More ships will be coming to the console version and there will probably be a sale on ships at some point. All three of the ships you're interested in are good choices, but they don't necessarily fit every player. Learn about your options, figure out how you like to play, and make a choice at a time you don't have to pay full price.

All three ships should fit to my gameplay...
If i may ask, can you post a screenshot of your crew stations (for the Escort carrier or any T6 ship you use) ? I would like to know how much capacities Bridge officers have access to ...

Yes the Dyson ships look really good, that was my first choice with the Ar'kif tactical carrier until i realized those ships was T5 and not T6...
Usually i prefer using "Rapid Fire" to "Scatter Volley", Scatter volley miss a lot of round... but may be i am not very familiar to Scatter Volley...

Why not just get them all?

Personally I love the Faeht for the intel specialization but I've been told that the Malem is allegedly superior in PvP. Depends on whether you like Pilot or Intel powers. I wouldn't worry about the other ship. Also, don't rule out the T6 Mogai. It's a really good ship too.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

    Reminder : smile:
The only T6 Romulan ships on the PS4 C-Store are :
    - Faeht
    - Malem
    - Jhu'ael (New, came yesterday on the store)
    - D'kellhra

I wouldn't go for the D'kellhra, because it is too heavy to turn, and to move ...

I am still only lv53 and i don't have access to specialization for my bridge officers...

What is the difference with Pilot or Intel powers ? What is this ? Is this really important for the gameplay ?
Can you develop a bit please ?

There's also the whale of a basic T5 that is the Ha'nom. It gets a secondary deflector, Sensor Analysis, and subsystem targetting, it's a science vessel. Aside from that, there's a grab-bag of cross-faction ships and the giant sore spot that is the Federation T6 science ship monopoly.

My Romulan toon actually uses a Dyson Science Destroyer (the basic one from the... 2014? Anniversary) as her main ship. It's a very good-looking ship that performs well as a science vessel, but I can't deny that it's hard to make a build that works for both modes and the built-in proton cannons are nearly junk because there's next to no way to boost them. I love the ship to death, but the Dyson series make a poor choice for your first big purchase in the game. And the Fed and KDF Dysons are rather ugly, to boot, even after swapping out the default hull material

Yes, i agree, for my first purchase, i will not get a T5 even if it look beautiful ;)

Personally i would go faeht as intel powers are awesome override subsystem safeties is one of my favorite boff abilites especially with surgical strikes. Which both can buff the plasma lance seen that hit for 600k in one shot.

You are not the only one, a lot of peoples told me very good things about this ship...
But one thing : If it go for the Faeht, does this mean i need to specialize my Romulan Admiral to "Intelligence Officer" ?

And what about the Destabilized Tachyon emitters of the Jhu'ael Tactical warbird ? Did someone have ever user this Spell to have a feedback ?

No, it means the bridge officer at that seat needs to be trained in Intelligence and then needs to read Intelligence training manuals for the powers that you want them to learn.

You can buy a training manual that adds Intelligence to a bridge officer on PC, you might not be able to buy them yet for console. You can buy new bridge officers that know one of (tac / sci / eng) + intelligence.

You can open your wallet wide and buy the Delta Pack that includes 3 x very rare intelligence officers for every one of your captains, along with the intel ships for Fed, Rom, KDF.

Wow i do not see Delta Pack on C-Store PS4... I can see some bridge officer :
    Borg Bridge officer Federation
    Federation Aenar Bridge officer
    Federation Catian Bridge officer
    Reman liberated Borg Bridge officer
    Borg Bridge officer KDF
    Klingon Ferasan Bridge officer...
In the description i do not see any mention to Specialization for any of those Bridge officers...
I will have a look at the Exchange if i can found Intel (or specialized) Bridge officer...

On PC I think it was ops in Deep Space 9 where you could buy intel bridge officers, but have you tried Earth Space Dock's bridge officer vendor near Quinn? Or maybe one of the vendors in the command center on New Romulus?

For "normal" boffs you need a special training manual that teaches them to be an intel officer. Only after they use that can they learn intel powers.
  • fcedfced Member Posts: 385 Arc User
I will have a look, on New Romulus and Earth Dock, but i didn't remember any Specialized BOF.. I think they sell only simple bridge officer (with no color, not even green if i made no mistake)...

Ohhh you were right, on Deep Space Nine at "Operations", they sell Specialized BOF for 240 Dilithium...
Are they good or no, and are they "very rare" BOF with good skills, i don't know...
    But thank you for the info..;

    @fced

All joking aside i am a romulan captain myself, though i have T6 warbirds i prefer my T5U fleet D'Deridex, i wont fly anything less, not because its an iconic ship but because its a solid ship, alot of HP and good eng boff slots so its tanky, but also has good sci boff slots and tac boff slots , so i can give as much as i take.

Its a very balanced warbird , ik you said T6 but if you get a chance give the T5u Fleet D'Dridex a shot, its a very solid ship :)

I have a somewhat related question... the idea just came to mind that if romulans can use up to t4 federation or kdf ships (based on choice), does that mean they can equip multiple quad cannons?

You can get quad plasma cannons from the ar'kif, and quad phasers or disruptors from the kdf/fed equivalents. Wonder if it's worth attempting.
  • fcedfced Member Posts: 385 Arc User
I have read something about Quad cannons somewhere, but i never saw one in the game, only Dual heavy cannons...
