Hello,
I cannot decide myself on which ship will i get between those 3 ships for my Roman Tactical Officer:
Please if someone would advise me, on which would be the best suited for my class and gameplay, it would be very nice ...
I don't like too much the Cruiser ship type (slow moving, turning), D'Khellra BattleCruiser type, it is the reason i didn't put it here
[bJ]hu'ael heavy escort carrier : [/b]
http://sto.gamepedia.com/Jhu'ael_Tactical_Carrier_Warbird
I like the idea to be able to launch scorpion fighters, but i have read they can be stubborn to manage ...
There is also a pack of 3 Heavy escort carriers on the C-store, one for each classe...
Faeht Intel Warbird http://sto.gamepedia.com/Faeht_Intel_Warbird
It look to be a very good ship, like the idea to be able to fire torpedo / repair while being cloaked, and the possibility to expose enemies...
Malem Light Warbirdhttp://sto.gamepedia.com/Faeht_Intel_Warbird
Wow fire until 6 torpedoes / repair / use bridge officers abilities while being cloaked... this one look strong...
Thanks in advance
Ced

All 3 have Lt. Commander Science if you like to use gravity well to clump up targets before you hit them with a torpedo spread or HYT
I prefer intel boff powers to pilot, and the Faeht is a nice ship overall. They're all good, but I lean toward the Faeht.
And here we have a roman T6 Lake Nemi Dreadnaught carrier
which launches a full squad of roman river boats
And in a new roman flaored R&D pack they will release a roman freighter to compete with the tufflis and suliban ships
but dont expect alot more since cryptic hates klingons, romulans and romans
Beside that, i like the Faeht too... It look great and would be my 2nd choice after the carrier...
What about the Jhu'ael ? Is that true that the carrier pets, are not easy to manage ? I mean the topic i have read on forums are the pets are not always doing what you want they do...
Since Cannon Scatter Volley is arguably better than Beam Overload in the current state of the game, I'd recommend the Malem or the Faeht. Faeth has better specialization abilities, I'd say. Both are decent ships and can be quite deadly.
I think I take this one.
If I may make a suggestion, the Morrigu, despite being part of the Battlecruiser bundle, is actually very agile tactical-type ship with Intel seating and a very good ship trait that improves Emergency Power to Weapons.
Pets can't keep up with full impulse, so they disappear on you when you move between cubes in a Borg Red Alert or between sites in a space battlezone.
Pets do not always return for healing. Lowering speed to half impulse often works.
Pet AI is not the best, and they like to take a close-up look at warp core explosions. That does not end well for them.
I have fun flying full carriers (KDF T5, Breen event carrier) but I don't count on pets for much help with the escort carriers.
The Faeht has a paper-thin hull and only adequate shields. Unless you're an accomplished escort/tactical escort player whose main defence method is speed the Faeht might not be the ship for you. It wasn't for me, I couldn't handle the paper thin hull. Luckily I have a Lifer account ant the T6 Romulan veteran ship does better for me.
I would recommend the Morrigu or the sci pilot ship really.
If you just want an end-game ship that can throw science magic while cloaked, the Fleet Faeht or the Fleet T'varro [T6] will do just fine.
You can counter that with Command specialization (+15%? hull) or pilot spec temp HP on attack pattern beta, getting the Fleet Faeht after you get the C-Store (so you get the plasma lance console, fleet = no console, no mastery), with a tanky space set like Kobali, with the Samsar ship console if you have it, .... there are ways.
My T5 Ships i got when i reached LV40 is an Ha'feh, and i just got an Ha'feh from the mirror universe, because i needed an 2nd Science bridge officer... The Ha'feh have only one...
The only 4 T6 Ships we have are :
- D'Khellra Warbird Battlecruiser
- Faeht Intel Warbird
- Malem light Warbird
- Jhu'ael Heavy escort carrier Jhu'ael - this one is a very new ship, it came yesterday in the store (Exist in single ship, or 3 ships package, one for each faction)
Beware, the Malem and the Faeht have enhanced battle cloaks having that can be a liabilty. Say you have cannons in front with one torpedo and want to cloak to escape death, when you cloak youll continue firing your torp and expose your position and draw fire and you will be a low health at times and get yourself killed. This applies to all torpedos even console ones such as the one on the malem.
One way around this is to de-select your target when you cloak not to fire your torps, another is not to have torps on autofire, another is not to equip torps.
Jhu'ael:
This is one is very well rounded. It's agile enough, hits hard and still has just enough HP to survive something nasty coming your way (not always mind you, but for an escort-type warbird its tough).
Faeht:
Hits hard and intel powers are fun, both the ship ones and the BOFF stations. Enhanced Battlecloak is also a great benefit. But the the one reason I hardly play this now is:
- very fragile
- looks could be better (subjective of course)
Malem:
Mind you, I only ever had the T5 Fleet version of the T'varo, so my assessment isn't 100% accurate as a result. The T5 one was a blast to fly, the fun factor and handling compares to a Bird-of-Prey and enhanced battlecloak is a great benefit as always. It had good versatility, but not quite the same damage potential as some other warbirds (at T5!).
So in conclusion:
If you want intel powers, Faeht is the way.
If you want fast speed and like flying raiders, take the Malem.
If you have no idea which to take still, you can't go wrong with the Jhu'ael . It's the most well rounded warbird out of these IMO.
"Let them eat static!"
Luckily, on console right now, theres no need for a competitive DPS race to get the absolute best, nor are there cookie-cutter FoTM's, as the end game content kind of ends after getting all your rep and doing all the quests. Theres only really the Borg PvE queue which doesn't require high DPS, and PvP so far is (at least on XBox) completely dead.
A gravity Well and destabilized plasma torpedo is so much fun it ought to be illegal.
Making the most out of the enhanced battle cloak is something else completely. It is an unique kind of game play and completely different from cloak or battle cloak.
Why? Because it can fill any role and do anything you need it to do. From it's Bridge Officer Layout that features the highly desirable Intel seating to it's spectacular console layout, the ship can do it all. It's much tougher then the 'light warbirds' and with it's bundled console acting as a 'get outta jail free' card it's as durable as a full heavy cruiser. Despite it's toughness, it maintains cat like agility being suitable for single beams or narrow arc front firing weapons alike.
As if that wasn't enough, it comes with one of the best traits in the entire game and it has the really nice visual look of the Mogai Heavy Warbird. About the only thing I wouldn't recommend this ship for is for a Science Heavy build or a Torpedo boat. For anything else, it can do what you want and do it better then most any ship in the game.
It's a tough as nails ship that can put down damage on par with the most powerful ships available. It's honestly amazing.
{EDIT} - Sorry, just saw the part about you being on PS4. They really need to separate the console and PC forum.. sorry about that. Honestly, if it were me, I would hold off on buying until the T6 Fleet ships and the Battlecruiser bundle were available, but that's just me.
I was using a Ha'feh ship, but i got an Mirror universe Ha'feh from the Exchange because i needed an 2nd science officer slot...
To be honest i didn't have understand all the subtleties of this game yet...
@ bonzodog01 : Will they release other ships from STO PC? And when ? i haven't found any info on this on twitter, or on Arcgames.com ...
My choice would be now between the Faeht and the Jhu'ael ... I still not have decided myself on which i should take... I don't want to make a mistake with real money...
Players say the Faeht is very fragile -2000 hull than the Malem...
The only T6 Romulan ships on the PS4 C-Store are :
- Faeht
- Malem
- Jhu'ael (New, came yesterday on the store)
-D'kellhra
PS : What is the cooldown of carrier pets ? And can we use any carrier pets on Heavy escort carrier (i have see some pets which can repair shields)
I was kidding. No date at all has been given. "Real Soon Now" is something companies say that does not actually mean soon, it means some time before the heat death of the universe. Like when parents say "we'll see" ( = no ), or "maybe" ( = no ). Xmas 2017 is another bit of silliness since it is so far away.
Carrier pet cooldown varies by pet, but tends to be on the order of 40 seconds between launches. You can launch more often with high Aux power, and there are a few other things that reduce cooldown. Most T6 carriers get reduced pet cooldown as one of their mastery perks.
Heavy escort carriers can use any pet that's not restricted to specific carriers, so no frigates of any kind and no race-specific fighters like Breen or Jem'Hadar (actually, I don't think those are available on console, but it's something to bear in mind for later). Pet descriptions in the shop or inventory should lay out any restrictions they may have in red text between the name and stats.
I personally favour Delta Fliers on my heavy escort carriers because they can use Tachyon Beam to soften up enemy shields and they're not quite so fragile as regular fighters. For me, the purpose of hanger pets is to give the AI something else to shoot at while you come in with the big weapons, maybe make them waste some AoE nastiness before you get into range.
Which side is your Romulan allied with? That affects your pet selection if you decide to buy a Jhu'ael.
