None of this has anything to do with anything in the game. The game is simple supply/demand. It's supply/demand when it comes to items meaning ships/weapons/consoles/traits etc. The price is also in part determined by the supply of EC, which is ever growing regardless of the cap. Raising the EC cap DOES NOT mean that there is more EC in the system. Broke players with 200,000 EC still have 200,000 EC in a game with 10 Billion EC caps.
Rich players with 50 Billion EC will STILL have 50 Billion EC in a game with 10 Billion EC caps. The only difference is that they can now shuffle that existing EC away from their 47 EC alts to a lower number of alts. The same amount of EC will be "created" by players playing content and EC farming. Raising the cap does NOTHING to change that and you have not demonstrated anything to contradict this statement in your post.
Sorry, but it would have. It would made a bit deflation, because for example, when you dont want EC alt's, like i dont want, i hold my EC in item's, after boxit loss, i changed and having my EC in the only thing in this game that will be always valueable, in master keys. That means, i have lot of master keys in bank to hold EC. If EC cap would be like 100b instead 1b, i would hold much more EC in my bank.
That means, all the EC i hold in keys are in the market instead my bank, is helping the inflation.
More ec in my bank instead spend on keys are helping deflation.
I remember reading that suggestion in TTC. It's a good idea.
What do you think about eliminating Transwarp cooldowns in favor of adding EC costs associated with each transwarp. For the sake of argument, say 25,000-50,000.
Its an existing thing, most of us uses different ep mission's for transwarp when normal transwarp are on CD.
And I have a build that will reduce the cooldown to less than 3 minutes.

Cosmetic toys for the space rich and space middle classes, stuff people would actually want.
Actual Starbases that could be customized in layout and features would be a good start. But would require a lot of work by the programmers.
Some much of the cosmetic options that people would pay huge amounts for are already in the game. I for example would have dropped 1b on TOS tricorders and communicators- but then Cryptic put them in the game for AoY expansion characters only.
To be honest, in the current environment I think cosmetics would be in the end insignificant.
Lotro had all of that. A posting fee depending on how long you were listing it for, then a 10% fee on what you got for the item on sale. People just rose listing prices to end up with about the same as they would have it without the fees. The posting fee was fairly innocuous at first, then by the time the Riders of Rohan Expansion came out, the higher level items had some ridiculously high posting fees associated with the item.
What they did allow on their Exchange was posting for fixed prices like here or post with a minimum price for true bidding by buyers. The one who obviously had the highest bid when the sale time expired got the item for that price. The seller got the money minus the fees.

If there is going to be an ec sink, it should be both A) effective and fair.
I don't believe so-called 'taxes' on exchange sales are fair. Taxes go to pay for services, and the exchange doesnt cost ec to run.
It's just deleting people's hard earned ec.
What is far is a store where you pay EC and get something back that you want.
Surely vanity and cosmetic items are perfect candidates for such a store, there can never be controversy that they allow people to pay to win anything, nor can they disrupt the so-called "balance" of the game.
I have long lobbied for a special device, perhaps a Veteran Medal or something similar, which is sold by an NPC for one billion ec, and causes nearby players to turn and salute the owner when activated.
I myself would buy at least one of them immediately, and I know many others who would buy them at once or else feel compelled to buy them eventually.
As long as they offer a nullifier for 100k I'd be fine with that. Because anything that forces players to do anything - especially something like salute or glorify another player - without a choice is a horrible idea.
For another thing, the Salute emote is a horrible idea anyway, since not once did any officer in Starfleet salute another officer.
If they offered a "never see anyone - NPC or player - salute ever, because it's not IP appropriate" item, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
All that being said, I'm definitely in favor of them offering cosmetic items in the game for EC as a sink, but I doubt they'd do it, since they can make real money off of those things in the C-store (and to some extent the Dil store).
An exchange tax is a bad way to go, as it only really hurts the buyer and not the seller, who just raises the price to cover the cost of the tax. Happens that way in ever MMO that has a tax. Plus, adding something like that now is difficult, since there's never been one before. The forums would explode over it.
Better to create new items that people want and sell them via a vendor in my opinion.
Regardless of how they create the sink, I agree that raising the limit to at least 5 Billion EC for banks, and at least 1 billion for the Exchange is a good idea. Ease of access to funds means that players are more likely to buy things on impulse, rather than having to consider the hassle of shifting funds around in order to buy the thing.
Well if you remember o the old ESD as soon as you entered the Auditorium Hall (Podium on the Stage), every NPC in there rose to salute you. I used to play around with them by ducking in and out of the hall watching them go up and down. Now if you enter the area for Quinn's Office and Security, Skill Trainer, etc. t guards outside the main entrance will salute you. It does not seem consistent there, however.
I am sure that this Saluting Item is meant to be Party Amplifier 2.0.

I'd not mind, either...especially now that these rat fink mother ^%$@#*'s are charging what now exceeds the cap, we need all the help we can get. ~face palm~

Actually, whoever buys items from me will be paying for it
I will just adjust my prices to compensate.

Been asking for something similar for the Dilithium exchange, as well.
Cryptic just haven't got the will nor the imagination to effectively combat the economies in their game.
Actually they did put in 4 costumes that cost 1-2 million dil apiece recently. Too bad they were Fed-only, I wanted to buy them.
Yeah, I hear you.
That was a start, but they were over priced for what they were and we need it as regular as cstore, lockbox and lobi items are released.
The just announced new Fleet Holding should help even more, but again, needs to be a regular thing.
Unless its a 5-tier, large fleets will finish it long before they can realistically make another.
We need a new starbase-size holding.
Agreed.
Why would anyone buy one, when they can get them on the ex for cheaper?
