Cryptic is nothing if not creative in searching for additional income streams from the venerable Trek franchise! This will become a RL version of the GPL trophies for sale in-game, and displayed in the mess hall or ready room. The price will be predictably high, since every model will be unique; the color & material variants alone will pretty much guarantee that. So for the most addicted captains, even the flagship of each 'toon displayed on the wall in one's gaming room will likely require a princely sum, proudly proclaiming their obsession!
PS - I wonder how many model owners will go the extra mile to install the correct lighting?

Also, will prices vary depending on ship sizes? I mean a Defiant is smaller than a Sovereign, yo.
Between what's mentioned in the announcement and the Eucl3d's FAQ page, I wouldn't be surprised to see the ships in the $150-$200 range. And all ships will be 12" long. As can be seen from this pic from Eucl3d's page:
This is definitely one of those "If you can afford it, go for it!" kind of things.
Thank you for the time...

Cryptic, would you actulaly like me to spend actual Money? It's Simple:
Full, Story-driven, select from start 1-50 Klingon Side
Scrap current Lock Box & Lobi system for something more reasonable
Expand Dil and Rep/Fleet Marks to regular story content
It would be ridiculous if they expected regular folks to 3D print the ships themselves.
I mean, how many of you 3D printers at home, let alone a professional grade highly detailed 3D printer? I never even seen one to buy at regular people stores like Best Buy and Walmart. What are they, thousands of dollars?

Actually, depending on branding and size, they can be just a couple of hundred.
The technology is basically everywhere by now, so commercialization has drastically reduced the pricing of the machines.

Yeah, I don't think those are scaled properly... that's a really BIG Delta Flyer.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
I'd like to have a Klingon Bird Of Prey with wings that can move up and down, retractable landing gears, and a ramp that can open and close (I like little details like that).
The finish isn't great, but hey it's 3D printed so one can't expect gloss. It's still very tempting indeed and for £100 it's probably something I might buy myself for Christmas; not cheap but not beyond reach either.
I wonder if they're solid or hollow... Looking at the examples make me start thinking about needle files and LEDs.
Look, they sell Imps from War for The Overworld...
...
TAKE MY MONEY!
These are going to be expensive, hundreds of dollars range based on what I'm seeing on the Eucl3D site.
There's Elite: Dangerous space ships in their store already, $30 for the 3 inch longViper, $99 for the 5 inch long. I would expect at least $199 for a 12" ship that the STO series seems to be, possibly higher just scaling off that.
I think I'd be willing to do $10-15 for a 3-5" ship as long as the detail was there. Maybe $50-75 for the foot long ships. $80-90 if those ships were shipped with a 4-6" version of my captain where I get to select poses and weapons.
We have ranging prices for our different video game partners but generally speaking we start at $29 for our 4 inch long models and $99 for our 8 inch long models. Some games do have a $49 price point available. No matter what craft, vehicle, or avatar that you purchase the price will be in one of those categories.
one of the questions asked at the announcement panel was will this also be available for my character and bridge officers, the response was we are working on it. the printed models look amazing in person!
Looks cool indeed.. but I have the sinking feeling that these are going to be insanely expensive.
We'll see what happens, but I would love to get one for my Odyssey, Arbiter, or even my Vengeance. I do kinda wish they weren't all the same size though, so if you have multiple ships you can see the size difference.
Probably a moot point though, since pricing will likely make the purchase of multiple ships fairly unreasonable.
Similar services for World of Warcraft are in the $200-$300 range. For smaller figures.
If prices is at all an issue for you I'd recommend remaining calm. These are still short run, fully painted figures. That's not cheap. Doubly so for a licensed product from Star Trek.
Because make no mistake, CBS is getting their cut too.
Note how they say "you can print the ships" instead of "you can have them printed" or "you can get printed ships".
Hmm... they appear to do the printing and painting themselves. Not sure what to think because the phrasing of the post is very "We're making files available" but that's not that company's business model.

What are you guys willing to pay for this stuff?

Its a custom printed and painted foot long model of a licensed product.
I'll get 2-3 and hope they will eventually do captains with away team.
My Dream would be to have the shisp of my four faction main characters along with my captains standing on a shelf, something that will still be around and endure beyond STO's existence.

Hell, out of game you can print a T1 Connie and call it T6.
