I missed the delta recruit thing.
Gave up on STO for quite some time and by the time I came back I found out I missed out not only on the Ferengi Nandi, but also the delta recruit thing.
I just realized there's a problem with this recruitment event: Anyone who does not create a Temporal Agent within the next six weeks will lose out on permanent bonuses to the specialization, admiralty, and reputation systems. This includes any players who return after the event and new players who join afterwards.

it's a joke, right?. events are always like this...
I can't get out of the tutorial! The Captain isn't interactive, I can't complete my First Officer duties because I can't interact with anything, and I can't leave the Bridge either! This stuff worked better on Tribble!

No, I'm not joking. This time, you lose more than a unique ship, doff, console, or other item. The rewards for this event include
bonus XP for the admiralty system
improved traits from the specialization system
ultra-rare Mk XIII reputation gear for the price of very rare Mk XII reputation gear
If you do not create a Temporal Agent within the next six weeks, then not only do you lose out on unique items, all characters on your account will be at a disadvantage in several systems.

Maybe it's an homage to Enterprise...
"When I was in my early 20s on a trip to East Africa, I saw a gazelle giving birth. It was truly amazing. Within minutes, the baby was standing up... standing up on its own. A few more minutes, and it was walking. And before I knew it, it was running alongside its mother, moving away with the herd. Humans aren't like that, Ambassador. We may come from the same planet as those gazelles, but we're pretty much helpless when we're born. It takes us months before we're able to crawl. Almost a full year before we can walk. Our deep space mission isn't much different. We're going to stumble, make mistakes. I'm sure more than a few before we find our footing. But we're going to learn from those mistakes. That's what being Human is all about. I'm sorry you can't see that." Captain Archer (from the Enterprise episode "Shockwave")
Biggest problem I had last night was spawning inside the lid of the phaser crate on Castus after a cutscene. With no way to beam out, I had to keep logging in and out to try and reset my character's position. Took ages.
But I was happy enough with the gameplay. Definitely had that "just one more episode" feeling when turning in.
The only people who need to be concerned are the players who dont do a temperal recruit at all, they get nothing.
That's the point. I understand that these one-time rewards are Cryptic's way of getting people to log on. But with this event, they've increased the costs of not participating. It puts new players and players who return after the event at a disadvantage. Think about the future. Suppose that every year Cryptic runs a recruitment event, and each event includes permanent account-wide bonuses. How wide will the gap become between new players and old players who were around for every event?
Ok, I saw lots of glitches playing through to level 10 on my 23rd C character. Some of them I'd even call annoying or immersion-breaking. But nothing that made the game unplayable for me and I really enjoyed how the plot unfolded and to see the temporal entanglements with both TOS and later episodes of STO itself. I was especially surprised at how gratifying it was to fly that old Constitution class I just got with the Temporal Agent pack.
Point being, the Temporal Recruit thing doesn't suck. The bugs will go away, most of them, and it just takes a couple of hours of time to level up to being a temporal agent. The people who are refusing to play it because they can't be a Klingon or a Romulan or the Alien of the Week or because they hate the idea of time travel are missing out on not only the temporal recruit rewards -- which are considerable -- they're missing out on seeing the Original Series from a unique point of view.

Come to the dark side. We have Kool-Aid.
I've had a good time playing through as well. The only bug I had to work around was the already closed shuttle bay door on the ground tutorial. A quick log out fixed that, though. Amusingly enough, there are actually points in the TOS story that make me wish I was a brand new player!
Case in point, it cracks me up that Scotty and Bones both mention that they feel like we've met before. I hope new players remember that little dialog later in the Devidian missions and get a kick out of it.
I was pretty disappointed to realize that my shiny, newly-skinned T1 Connie doesn't have the TOS Connie bridge, though. But, it's not in the AoY pack, so I can't complain really. It was just a little immersion breaking when I popped into the bridge for my account bank.
I can't remember how Delta Recruit worked - where they created as such from the very start? If I've already created my TOS captain, do I have to scrap that character and remake them as a Temporal Agent?
A Mirror Universe ship is for life - not just for Alpha. Support T5-U Upgrades for Mirror Ships.
It just seems like a waste of time, it just seems kinda tedious, going through the same content just to get a single probe per mission?? it just seems like a waste of time, the TOS story arc was cool and fun to experience, but once it finished, the rest is pretty much the same as a standard Federation Character. Kinda boring, i am gonna go back to my Romulan Character, the TOS content is cool, if you plan to put more of that out there, i look forward to it, but even Delta Recruit was the same....tedious.
I mean you have it on for a limited time and then remove it, these type of events i just don't see the point in taking part of, its the same thing with the events in SWTOR, the bounty week, Gree and the Rakghoul events, they only last 1 week per month,,,kinda boring, not sure how they get the Rakghouls to keep it down for 3 weeks. eh? lol
These events in my opinion should be on 24/7, never stopping....i mean they are time travel stuff, it should always be there, even if its over.

If you create the TOS character during the event and level them up through the last TOS mission (about level 10), they automatically become temporal recruits and get the rewards accordingly.

I have a similar opinion, that TOS characters should always end up as temporal recruits because they always end up as temporal agents. It shouldn't matter when you create them. But since it does, we'll have to roll with it.
Unlike with the Delta Recruit event, this one makes sense to keep bringing back every couple of years to snag new players. So maybe they'll do that.
Bravo! This is a real coup for the F2Pers out there. MK XIII UR without even having to upgrade. That's impressive. My only wish would be that the Aegis Doff might someday be rewarded as Account Bind. I'd rather transfer it to my dedicated crafting toon. Regardless, you can bet I'll be running a couple Temporal Recruits through the gears!
every character you have should get a aegis Doff even the new temperal agent.
I'm in the minority and nearly all the players will disagree with me, but i'm not really happy with this recruitment.
I already have many alt and i'm mostly playing two characters, meaning that i should stop playing them in order to play a temporal toon, one from a race that i'm not interested to play with on top of that.
Also, i felt that my Delta recruit is now a sort of leave for account, role playing speaking: They have already some connections with the temporal agency and so it doesn't make any sense that they could not be promoted to temporal agent as the next step.
I admit that i'm not really objective: My main fed is a Delta recruit, in order to stick with the theme i have collected nearly all the temporal stuff from the lobi store as well as the 3 now old temporal ships and the Aeon.
Now i felt that all these efforts through the last year to have a role play character with the temporal theme are ruined, really.
My opinion would have been different if you had made everythings from boxes and lobi stores account wided but it's still not the case (and i wonder why) so i can't transfert all these temporal items to the new toon.
It would have been nice to have the option to promote the Delta to temporal, even if it means to reset the level of the character to 1 while keeping my stuff in bank and the ships in the dry dock until to have the level to take them out.
At least i would have the temporal themed character i dreamed to play since the beginning of this game.
I can understand the need to promote agent of yesterday with cool stuff, but i have not the will to begin a new character and to collect the items i alreday have on another temporal themed character again.
And no, i will not buy the temporal agent pack to fill the void: It's too costly and most of the ships include are ugly to death.
The rewards are great but (we might be the minority) I still think I have too many alts as it is. I was thinking of renaming them after the days of the week and maybe committing some "alt-icide". I've noticed that trying to get all of them to lvl60 + completing Rep and Adm +++ is just not giving enough attention to whichever one might be my main (I can't decide who gets the ax).
I just had a horrible thought. If Daniels recruited us as a temporal agent at the point of our "death", in order to preserve the integrity of the timeline... does that not also imply that Captain Pavel Chekov suffered a similar fate?

Not necassarily some people get recruited due to experiance , and chekov not only has the experiance , but knows how to keep it quiet, so i think he was recruited due to experiance in time travel, and not after a near death experiance.

Just get your temporal recruit to level 10 before 6 weeks and there you go.
People are not here wont know what they are missing. Thats okay. If theyre not here to play then they dont care.
