So these prize pack are Bound therefore is you win the t6 ship it is bound, you cant sell?

But when you chose the ship that you can sell?

Correct. You can't sell the "any [Tier] ship" pack. You can sell whatever ship you chose to get from it.

Well played Cryptic. Giving us some freedom of choice is a great thing and has sparked my interest in opening some of these.

this is a critical change , as a regular former lockboxopener it improve some what the chance to gain a good reward

if you open a specific lockbox, you usualy can only get 1 good item you can sell some money

now you have more option to choose items

    less junks and TRIBBLE

In order to help ensure that this massive number of prizes doesn’t place your desired prize too far out of reach, we are introducing an element of choice into the Infinity Lock Box. Most prize entries will reward the key-user with an Infinity Prize Pack for whichever prize entry they won. Infinity Prize Packs are bound to the person that won them, but offer an unrestricted choice as to which item they wish to have won. Once that choice is made, the item(s) rewarded will be unbound, and can be freely traded/sold/gifted to other players.
EXAMPLE: You may win an item named “Infinity Prize Pack: T6 Starship” which will be bound to the character that won it. Upon using/activating this package, you will be presented with a choice that includes all previously offered T6 Starships: Benthan Assault Cruiser, Vaadwaur Manasa Assault Escort, Krenim Imperium Warship, etc. Choosing any of those entries will reward you with a packed-up version of the chosen ship, which can then be kept and opened for yourself, or freely traded/sold/gifted to other players.

So, does this mean if we win...
    • a Bridge Officer Training Manual we can use the associated Infinity Prize Pack to claim a Kemocite-Laced Weaponry I specifically?
    • a Weapon Pack we can use the associated Infinity Prize Pack to claim an Elachi Disruptor?
      • (Also, will the resulting pack start at Rare Mk II/Very Rare Mk IV of pure randomness like older variant weapons, or be updated to start at Very Rare Mk II with a choice of Beam/Cannon/Ground like more recent offerings?)
    • a Console we can use the associated Infinity Prize Pack to claim a Plasmonic Leech?
    • etc...

You can claim Kemocite-Laced Weaponry I specifically from the Bridge Officer Training Manual pack if that is what you want.

You can pick the Elachi Crescent Weapons pack if you want; but the functionality of that pack is unchanged. Since that one previously did not give the beam/cannon/ground choice; it does not now grant that choice. If you pick a pack such as the Terran Empire Agony Phaser Weapons pack that did grant that choice; it still does.

Yes; the console pack has Console Pack - Ionized Gas Sensor / Plasmonic Leech as an option that you can explicitly pick from an Infinity Prize Pack: Cross-Faction or Salvaged Console drop if you get it.

Will all older boxes be converted to the infinity box as of June 28th or remain the same? If so can one still use a Key to open an older box past June 28th or it won't open anymore?

If I understand the announcement correctly, then this change will make certain duty officer abilities a lot more rare. For example, the attack pattern doffs Zemok Jenro and Rugal Ghenro come from the packs Gamma Quadrant Elite Duty Officer (Federation) and Gamma Quadrant Elite Duty Officer (Klingon), respectively. These packs can be found only in Cardassian lockboxes. Users can no longer open a Cardassian lockbox with hopes of getting one of these packs. Instead, users will receive a random crafting or duty officer pack from all previous lockboxes when they open an Infinity lockbox.

Ah, this is the solution for the clutter of lockboxes, and the solution for the problem of giving old rewards to the console players. Pretty well done, I think.

interesting... Depending on the breadth of choice for say console or ability you might actually get me to open some boxes.

I doubt I'm the only one that stocks up. I have over 100 of each of the past boxes, I stocked up on every rerun event. I'd sell some of the stock off from time to time to make some quick credits but mostly I'd use them to try and get certain rewards. In the mood for some random chance at a certain ship (because I want one, a friend wants one, or the ship is selling high), then I'd open the right box. EDIT: Looks like the wrong quote made it in here. Ooops!

We can only hope! I gave up lobbying to get the boxes to stack higher then 20.

What Shadowfang said, but I want to piggy back. I could see the outrage if they auto-converted old boxes to the new box with 0 warning. Even worse outrage if they just made the old boxes unopenable! I'd probably lead the charge as I was a big lockbox seller and have 100s of all of the old boxes (which are going to skyrocket in prize, I'm hoping!).

Incorrect. The Gamme Elite will likely be included in the Random Duty Officer part. There's a section that covers Duty Officers, examples given are the Tholian Warfare and Temporal. Then there's the section that covers crafting packs and duty officer packs.

Incorrect. Ships are covered in T6 Ultra-rare, T6, T5 and T5 Secondary. D'Kora and Galor are included in the T5 ship box. Not sure on the Cell ship, isn't that from duty officer pack promotions?

  • tessaravejgantessaravejgan Member Posts: 276
I like it. More inventory space. Guess I'll drop all my old boxes on the exchange tomorrow. Would be nice if the chance for actually getting a t6 ship has been increased.

Whether Gamma Quadrant Elite duty officers are covered under the "Duty Officers" row of the table or the row "Crafting Packs & Duty Officer Packs", you still receive a random selection from all previous lockboxes, which means that your chance of getting a specific active roster ability is reduced.

I dunno. Sure, you don't get a X-pack that lets you choose which doffs, but sheer numbers of box opening might balance that out.
