And... confirmation that the enterprise gets destroyed...
Enh, wouldn't be the first time an Enterprise has been destroyed in a movie.
Gives them the opportunity to cook up a refit design at least.
they already had to refit the enterprise after the pounding it took from the vengeance...in this case, they'll need to build an entirely new ship, because there will be no salvaging it this time
hopefully for any further films after beyond, the new enterprise will have some actual armor plating so it doesn't take such a massive beating every film
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.
In the chaos of their battle, I bring order.
I am a shadow, darkness born from light.
The Force is united within me.
It still amuses me that one main thing I'm picking up from the last three trailers is that fact that the female uniforms now have sleeves for rank stripes. It's a bit sad when a film series that started in 2009 was behind a TV show from the 60s! Who knows, maybe by TAR IV they'll be allowed out of the little dresses and into some proper trousers like the men.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

End of movie scene where McCoy is saying 'You ready to go back out there?' is obviously an NCC-1701-A scene. Though, whether they use that designation or not we'll have to see.
I dont know, there's something about the details of this film that's bugging me.
I can get over the Enterprise getting its TRIBBLE kicked in every movie since 09, its fine. Kirk sounding more and more depressed with himself and his life, that's ok too its character development..
But there's just something.. missing? Maybe its just me.
He only completed 3 years of the Academy and was about to be expelled, then when from mediocre 3rd year student with discipline probems to a ship Captain in the course of how many days/hours? The career officers who were years into their career let alone actually graduated must have been like "you the eff do you think you are, why must i call you sir, i am a Lt. and you are a friggin 3rd year cadet and your ordering me around, do you even know what your doing, have you even left the solar system yet?"
After they beat Nero he should have been kicked off the ship, but no, here comes a sequel and everyone is pretending he has been in starfleet for 20 years and is the greatest captain since sliced bread.
Yeah, something is missing alright, common sense in story development.

Yes that is all true, but there is one little thing you left out: he saved the entire planet.
That doesn't change the fact that he still didn't have the experience to be captain, but they weren't about to kick out the guy who just saved the planet.
I think it would have been more believable if they had make him Pike's first officer, and then he could have become captain in Into Darkness when Pike dies.
Dude at least pay attention to the story if your going to ****, he was only under academic probation, not expulsion, which ceased to be a factor at all when Pine gave him a field commission. Also, he wasn't a mediocre student, he was accelerated study, as the KM test is normally for 4th years and Kirk ALWAYS cheated on the KM.
The only real difference is in the original universe it got him a commendation for original thinking.

Im betting the actual difference was his "cheat" wasn't quite as cocksure over the top as JJkirk's

Probably. Not having a role model in early life and rebelling against your stepfather at an early age really spun Kirk in a different direction.
well, the rebelling was given no context in the film, so it just looks like typical teenage rebellion starting a little early...but in the novel, there's a good reason for that rebelling - namely, his step-father is a downright ***hole, verbally and possibly physically abusing kirk throughout his childhood
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"

Yeah, we don't see it in the film but you can kind of figure it out based on what we do see with the car-stealing.
