First off what JJ did was in no way a reboot.
Sure it was. There's been a ton of treatments, ideas and pitches made for DECADES to reboot Star Trek. To tell the tales of YOUNG Kirk and Spock. At the academy. Return Star Trek to its roots with a younger, hipper cast. This goes all the way back to the 1980s.

That's what this is. It's a reboot. It's been called that hundreds of times. JJ Abrams' team just came up with a way to retcon this that is firmly rooted in comic book lore. The multiverse. This is Star Trek of Earth J.

This is the earth where The Justice Society still exists. Not the one where Owlman, Ultraman and Superwoman are evil tyrants of the Crime Syndicate. Otherwise Quinto would have a goatee.

Yeah.. It's way too big. That constitution dwarfs the Galaxy Class o_O

Aww, cute, you're one of those people who think Spock is 4 metres tall.

Hint: He's not and the AR Constitution is 350 metres as that's what size the model is built to. All the pritty off-screen scribbles in the world won't change that.

I think it's stupid that they want to make the ship that big, but they are pretty insistent it is.

I teared up on both of those lines.

I liked that one better the first time. It was much more genuine and heartfelt in the original. The new one is too cliche and seemed added as an afterthought IMO.

I was shaken the first time it was said. In this version it was telling a young man that though he does not know it yet. They are friends. No matter what.
Of course it helps that it was said by the original Spock but still.

Unless the onscreen model is scaled to 700m I don't care what drawings they produce that say otherwise.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

It's only logical to put it in STO, no objection from me. I personally don't like the aesthetics and will probably not go after any AR content though (ships, costumes...)

Yeah, it's not the first time we've seen inaccurate scaling. The MSD for the Enterprise-B makes her to be as big as a Sovereign Class. Despite that, we know she's not really that big.

So we'll have one little mission where our captains "explore" the hellish JJverse and have nightmares forever more after.

Starship counselors aren't there for nothing.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

personally never been too big a fan of the jjverse but never hated it either. I'm lookin forward to the JJprize and Vengeance tho. I thought the JJprize was a nice fusion of TOS and TMP versions with a twist of lime. The Vengeance, well its just badass, except the saucer cutout.

I don't like the (first two) reboot movies. I think they're poorly written and presented. That said, they look good. I like the non-Vengeance federation ships and I really dig the reboot Klingons.

Get me more of that iconography! This really isn't a question of making STO into an entirely different presentation. It's just getting more stuff in game while, hopefully, reconciling some dangling plot threads. I'm all for that.

Gross. I was afraid this was going to happen eventually. Granted, at this point STO has morphed gradually into something not too different from JJ's vision of Star Trek, so the transition from one to the other doesn't seem too bizarre. But I have never liked JJ's vision, so seeing STO go even further down the path it has been going down doesn't fill me with wonder and happiness.

You know what would be neat? If they could get Faran Tahir to play Prime Universe Captain Robau. The Kelvin was never destroyed in the Prime Universe, so he should still be alive at the time our 23rd Century officers are around. Perhaps we could meet Admiral Robau at some point?

nope, I dislike the "Apple" ships, the attempt at patronizing fans, and cramming all the fanservice into two movies.

and NOW a new movie that has pretty much nothing to do with space, or trek....it's just a crappy sci-fi movie with the trek name smashed onto it.

I'm done, after all the TRIBBLE, I'm done. I white Knighted for Cryptic and STO since the day it launched, I stuck with it through every event, every downtime and more, I stuck with it from every good day, like the time I lucked out and got my JHAS, to the bad, when the game went down the path it did.

now we know why they're going into the past, so they can pole vault us into the alternate universe, piggy back on the movies, and never look back as they shred all the things that made Star Trek what it was.

I think they should be kept separate. The reboot of the movie franchise already blew up Romulus as a plot point. You know that'd never have happened under the old franchise. Also, the ships are way bigger in the reboot. (I also don't really count the Narada as a Prime ship even though it technically came from the Prime universe.) Many things that are impossible in the Prime universe are possible in the JJ-verse. (Mainly for ease of storytelling in a <2hr movie.) I like the JJ-Trek movies just fine, but don't want it polluting, for lack of a better word, the Prime timeline STO is using.

That has literally nothing to do with JJ Trek being in STO. That's just giving a reason not to shoehorn JJ Trek stuff into the Prime universe. Which, if you have been paying attention, isn't happening.

Nothing is "transitioning". The JJ Trek universe is being added just like the Mirror Universe has been.

I've been a fan of Star Trek since TOS and the first 3 or 4 films was all there was, and I'm very happy the AR stuff is in game. I feel the newer films are much closer in spirit to Roddenberry than the Berman stuff, which from my perspective is quite frankly awful nerd-pandering pseudo-intellectual trash.

I must also admit to a case of schadenfreude in enjoying the self-proclaimed "real fans" who are enraged that the AR stuff is in the game, and I will drink their sweet, delicious haterade tears with gusto.
