Yeah, so far the artifact hunt seems to be extra wonky because of the weird way that scanner works. Even if it's a long ways away the scanner will sometimes point to the side of where it's actually located.

"Wonky" is giving it a bit too much. "Left?" "ok." "Right?" "ok." "Into this ditch?" "ok." "Into the middle of the ocean?" "ok." It's like a GPS on an any drug imaginable.

Hehe, especially when it gives you 3 different heading while you walk in a straight line. :p

I made an initial prototype map:
    Risa_Summer_Resort_Artifacts.png
I KNOW it's incomplete because the first two artifacts I hunted down aren't marked. (one was on the NW beach and the other along the south side of the river)

I had one pop up next to that arch at the very top of the map, just west of the last arch you go through on the powerboard race.
And another on that point that sticks out facing south up at the far too left of the map.

Yeah, the ones I 've marked I had screenshots showing me the position. Do you remember the spots well enough to make a screenshots of the locations?

ok i cant seem to get the reward for the escort it says it gives me it but its not in my invatory is there a time limit besides the 8 mins to wait to do it again

With the top end Floaters (the 1000 Favors ones) and a Lolunat/Risian Tribble buff, it's easily possible to complete 4 Hor'haugn Hunts inside of the 15 minutes ... IF you've got the a route down. Even including Risa Load Hang and needing to Transport back to the Resort each time to start my runs, I can still clear 4 trips reliably within the 15 minute window.

Its a daily. While the cooldown for the thing shows 8 minutes, you can only get the special ship marks once every 20 hours. Run it again before that and you only get the favors to spend on things like swimsuits.

There's a new tribble too. The Risian tribble. Feed any tribble blue Risian food to get it. You can still get a lolnut tribble with green risian food.

The Scavenger hunt is just too annoying. I use that time to turn in birds and monkeys and do DOFFs on more birds and monkeys. Besides, I despise Qwen.

Also. There's a lot of people asking how to get the BTTF board.

You can't. It was a one day only giveaway last year during BTTF day.

I also keep seeing people asking about the pets. And even one complaining about only getting ten marks.

    For the birds:

1: Find an egg during the Horga'hn Hunt, or buy one from event store for 150 favors
2: Take egg to the Ornithologist on the second floor of the Promenade.
3: Start the DOFF mission to hatch egg.
4: Continue to grow the bird from hatchling, fledgeling, adult to Senior by continuing the DOFF mission over 20 hours
5: Turn in the senior bird for 60 marks of your choice. A mutated bird(one with tufts) will get you 100 marks of your choice.

    For monkeys:

1: Run the PvP race until you acquire six monkey tags
2: Take tags to monkey trainer, same place as Ornithologist
3: Start the DOFF mission "Research Feather Monkey Tags"
4: Grow monkey until it reaches senior
5: Turn monkey in for 60 marks for regular and 100 marks for mutated (with a tiki mask)
Now a LTS and loving it.

I think it's supposed to be that you take multiple scans and the artifact is in the direction where the results overlap. It's a nice idea, but the horrible visual representation of the scan results makes it unnecessarily hard to follow. If the result was displayed on the character (like the R&D materials scanner) instead of on the ground, it would work better.
  • markhawkmanmarkhawkman Member Posts: 35,236 Arc User
That rezoning bug that's been mentioned makes me wonder if the red lines were coded into the Risa map itself. As weird as it sounds, the way the scanning function works, it seems to be temporarily revealing a hidden part of the map when it shows the scan lines.

Where are the keyboard instructions for the dance party?
  • rattler2rattler2 Member, Star Trek Online Moderator Posts: 58,688 Community Moderator
Better to just pin the emote menu and scroll it to the dances.

Open the emote menu, and click the pin button. Then resize it a bit bigger and scroll to the dance emotes and ckick your way to the Favors. Faster than trying to remember the actual commands.

I have never heard of the emote menu. I'll have to check that out. How do you open it?
  • rattler2rattler2 Member, Star Trek Online Moderator Posts: 58,688 Community Moderator
There should be a button on your chat box that has the emote menu. It will be on the lower right hand side of the chat box. Looks like a gear. Click that, you get a menu. One of the options is Emotes. Mouse over that, another menu should open up with your list of emotes. There should be a button in the upper corner of that menu that looks like a push pin. Click that and the menu will stay open until you hit that button again.

Also, when the caller calls out "Just Dance" That's the Dance [Mix]. I've seen people doing Dance [Basic] to that. You don't get credit for it if you don't do [Mix]

Also, how come the Dance instructor and column dancers don't dance the Running Man dance? They just continue with the previously-called dance.

If someone popping a disco ball right before the powerboard race starts annoys you, you can buy a nullifier from the GPL store. Keep it in your bank and then you won't be forced to dance.

Nevertheless, before I got one, the ball did not slow me down at the start. Since it's Risa, it's perfectly fine for someone to pop them wherever.

Now, as to people complaining that the flags 'move', they do not. Each flag has a predetermined location it spawns at when the previous flag is claimed. So just observe them as you approach them and you'll soon know where they will spawn at and be able to adjust your trajectory better as you approach the finish.

I've tried making use of the site to site transporter to try to speed things up with the temporal artifacts. So starting from the resort for example, if the scanner seems to be pointing in the general direction of either the promenade or camp, I'll beam over and see if I'm further or closer. Try to come up with another direction from there by just going forward, backward, left, right, scanning each time. I haven't done it enough to tell whether it makes it any quicker on average, but it might be worth playing with.

Regarding the dance, to get credit for double dances (ie, 'do the snaaaake!' twice), choose a neutral dance between each dance move (such as the ferengi or samba) - that way you get both points instead of one

I am not having to do this to get credit for them doubling, or even tripling. Just let the dance run and it credits me just fine.

It does not work for "extra" credits for me either...just continue to do the dance and you still get same amount at the end. Others can test as well if this is wrong.

If I'm doing the Snake, and the caller calls Snake again, I've always gotten credit.
Also, I thought that both Basic and Mix worked for "Just Dance."
