    Ship stats please.

I assume the TOS T1-5 will have special consoles i can use on other ships. Very curious to find out what the M6 computer console does. The Perseus looks kinda like the Ares.
And the Ranger looks pretty close to the Constitution, too bad the saucer is smashed into the secondary hull or i could pretend better.

Refering to the salami tweet, can i make the ranger with the connie skin? Or one of the T6 temporal monstrosities with a TOS skin? Then have that ship be cross factional.....; )

I am VERY apprehensive about this EX... I wish they would hurry up and tell us all the EX details as atm I am on the fence as to if I can find much to be Yay about...

A TOS Ex to me doesn't make much sense apart from it being the 50th wouldn't it have been better to bring ALL 5 Series into the mix somehow.. just my honest opinion is all... Bit like how Dr Who's 50th brought all Doctors in it some how.

Even if you dont buy the pack the story arc will still be available when it goes live... this pack is only for a new fed toon. Hoping the T6 unlocks will be cross faction since by then... the Fed had already assimilated the KDF and Roms...

Im an avid Romulan player and have never been big on fed alts. My 2 main roms see 5x the play time of my other 2 roms and they see more play time than my klinks... My feds are lucky if they get logged into at all monthly, and then its usually for doff/admiralty.

All that said, I plan to fork over for the big pack because its TOS era, and if that does well then one can reasonably hope for Movie Era or even multiple other Eras for our characters to play in. For a long time I figured any TOS style game would be a wild pipe dream, but here we are. Sure they will prolly butcher it, have hack writing, be lousy with bugs and its fed only but that's part of playin STO. This is a quasi-original idea for a mmorpg, and I'm cashin in for that and the TOS stuff. If this goes well they might even give us some Klink/Rom plots in that era. If it flops you know damned well they wont even blink at that idea.

I'm also acutely aware of Cryptic's obsession with circular logic in regards to RR/KDF content, but this is one of those (bloody damned rare) times where even I think this is a time to open the wallet. I've never once been tempted to spend $50 or more on a single pack or doodad inside a game, but here I am, one notoriously cheap mo fo ready to open the wallet and let fly for $130.

    @pwlaughingtrendy

Would I be able to purchase the starter pack if I already own the TOS Connie or am I screwed out of it because I decided to take it while you gave it to me for free? :p

the Legacy of Romulus Starter Pack was account wide, likely the Starter Pack for the new expansion will also be account wide.
    Just my two cents/EC :)

an official answer would still be nice, though I still believe it's account wide. :)

TOS is what I grew up with. So anything TOS centric is refreshing to see. I am looking forward to trying all of this out. Let the PC crowd yowl about this that or the other all they want. James T. Kirk will always be the Starfleet Captain.

The crew of the original, 'Wi' no bloody A,B,C, or D' remains the best crew in all of Starfleet. All the others have their high points, yes.

But all of them will always be in second place behind the originals.

My complaint wouldn't be that it is TOS but that it basically sounds like a optional leveling based expansion, like if I don't want to make a new character I get little to nothing out of it.

This is good. I just hope they give us free slots like the Deltas. I don't have any free slots left for characters.

from the trailer i think the KDF and romulans will not be left outta the ship lines they may have less than the TOS line but at the very least KDF might get an improved D7 Battlecruiser mainly since i have noticed they have improved its look :D

WOW! Awesome trailer, btw. AoY will occupy the foreseeable future for me now. (So much for Warcraft Legion.)

I'm pretty sure female Captains were a thing during the TOS area.

And yes, I know the whole thing about Rodenberry saying "no, they'd blow their ship" and stuff but TRIBBLE that, the theory that Janice Lester was simply insane is the best.

Anaxar They were a thing, just slightly retconned. Granted this isn't offically canon but there is also NX-02.

Who was the captain. Oh wait this was the captain:

Captain Hernandez USS Columbia So anyone who says, no female captains, um the show Enterprise says "TRIBBLE THAT!" And that happened almost 100 years before TOS. Just because we never saw it on screen never meant there wasn't any.

Like I said, artifact of '60s sexism (and Paramount not wanting Roddenberry to cast his girlfriend, regardless of Majel Barrett's very real acting chops). People forget how big a step it was to have a black female commissioned officer serving on the bridge of a combatant ship, and even Uhura pretty much only got to answer the phone. The US Navy didn't even allow female surface warfare officers until the '90s, by which point TNG had already had a female security chief (albeit badly wasted as a character). One of my mother's NROTC classmates even made admiral as an SWO.

What a wonderful thing we're not constrained by the sixties anymore.

True and saw something else when I re-read the original announcement. 3rd paragraph first sentence, there's going to be a story arc for each faction.

    That's not what it says.
In addition to the ability to create a brand new Star Trek: The Original Series Starfleet captain, we will be introducing a new episode arc for players of every faction, ...

Note that first part - you can only create a new TOS Stafleet character. Also the arc is for "every faction", not "each faction", which means it's more likely to be a single new 2410 FE arc, not one for each faction. We won't know for sure until they announce it, but don't get ahead of yourself.

Right. It's most likely equivalent to a featured episode series. Half a dozen episodes that all factions can play.

Well this is definitely an interesting concept so kudos to Cryptic for innovation, but besides all the initial excitement there just isn't enough detailed information yet released. Cautiously optimistic so far & it is odd to offer such a teaser trailer with such little details.

It's really a shame that all of this seems to be Federation-only. The designs look nice enough with some hit or miss for me in appeal. The consoles & the traits of the T6s will be a huge potential selling point all others from T1 to T5 have diminished value nowadays. I've always wanted to set-up one of my Fed toons with the original 4 species represented in BOFFs for a truly diplomatic ship & those uniforms are appealing, but still not sold.

Agreed, it ruins the look of the Ranger ship and doesn't look nearly as beautiful as the Constitution . They could have made the Constitution bigger and added more weapons. A Ranger with the Con's skin would be MOST agreeable:)

*Face palm* You mean to tell me, that instead of adding another faction to the game that has been requested hundreds of times, like say, The Cardassians, you are adding something that no one asked for and has no continuity with the actual game proper? Seriously? W...T...F? Ugh. I hate TOS. I binge watched the entire genre a while back (ALL of the Star Trek series) and I could barely suffer through the TOS ones. No thank you. You should have given us what we asked for, not some movie sell out tie in.

    Boo.

So, if I understand this correctly, the TOS era expansion will function much like the existing factions do. The Modern Federation, Klingon, and Romulan factions each have their own starting story arc, then each converge into the common story. There may be some limitations, but the way they are describing this, (unique story line, faction exclusive ships, etc) it sounds like TOS will basicly be its own "faction."

This sounds horrible. It would splinter the community. :(

Legacy of Romulus did okay there - this would probably be some sort of pre-30 story (though maybe a very different version of Spectres? that'd be cool)

What I dont understand is why is the Constitution a T1, and the Daedalus class a T2. The Daedalus is a far older ship then the Constitution class and also the Constitution was the best ship of that era other then the Federation Class.
