So, if I understand this correctly, the TOS era expansion will function much like the existing factions do. The Modern Federation, Klingon, and Romulan factions each have their own starting story arc, then each converge into the common story. There may be some limitations, but the way they are describing this, (unique story line, faction exclusive ships, etc) it sounds like TOS will basicly be its own "faction."

Perhaps with this proviso, we will finally have the high level TOS ships that everyone and their dog has been clamering for.

I hope so....I can't wait for this TOS is the reason I signed on to STO YESS
    Kirk out!

Now that I think about it, would we be teaming up with Kirks Enterprise on few missions and am curious if Shatner might do a voice over, if it's possible.

I'm not sure about getting the whole pack, but given that the one ship which really jumped out at me on first viewing was the Paladin, I'm certainly more than tempted by the Starter Pack - is there a Dev Blog anywhere yet giving us console slot/BOFF layout/stat information for the uopcoming toys, or is that yet to come?

I love the concept of the expansion itself - really looking forward to getting into it.

    Just sharing some info-crunchies

edit: oh okay the tweet link is enough and it is displayed properly after a page refresh ^^
spent a few minutes looking for some bbcode magic but looks like it wasn't needed XD

Thank you very much @kelettes , this sheds a whole new light critical for the issue.

In light of this, I withdraw my previous statement - a pack will be bought. Now where did I leave my cash......don't cry for me my wallet....

P.S. Now, I reckon a celebration is in order:

I'm a little skeptical. If it's creating TOS characters who then end up in the future then it seems pointless.

However if these characters stay in TOS timeframe and with those limitations then it will be pretty awesome.

I'm guessing it'll be the former though otherwise you wouldn't be able to complete reps and the like.

If I could take at least one of those TOS designs to full end-game capacity, you'd have sold me the big pack instantly and probably got me to play the game more than once in a blue moon again.

It looks like you MIGHT be able to take one of the "new" ships to end-game capacity. the T5 Temporal Battlecruiser Ranger Class is, well, T5. So it might be able to be upgraded to T5-U. I'm holding out hope it can be.

Probably not. But you can use the TOS skins on the T6 versions, so you can get there that way.

Still wondering about the lack of a T6 equivalent for the Connie.
CBS/Paramount is still stonewalling that then?

Unless... unless we consider the Ranger a TOS-era refit of the Connie.

Because that would get you the TOS Connie >> TOS Ranger >> T6 Temporal Paladin line.

    </wishful thinking ^^>

I mean, the tweet I linked in (see the post quoted above on this page ^^) does mention that the TOS skins can be used on their T6 equivalents.

And the starter pack gets you the TOS Connie and the Paladin.
Those don't appear to be related, but if you put the TOS Ranger between the two...

No, you shouldn't be pleased about this... rushed "expansion"

I'm sure the rest of the class is curious how you acquired specific knowledge of when they started working on this expansion so as to judge that it is "rushed".

I'd wish they would also add the uniforms from the very first TOS episode "The Cage" that would be even more awesome

Heh, nowhere near. These ships will be tiny compared to the J - they are reskins of the TOS ships, so will be tha same size. That's likely pretty small even by STO standards for the most part. The J was so large it had transporters instead of turbolifts, and carried generations of families onboard.

The hunch I'm getting is that these temporal agents will be able to time travel from TOS to the current timeline and back again. I could be wrong, but hope I'm not, it would be cool to have temporal ships that can actually "time travel".

Maybe, and I'm really hoping here again, is that there will be some TOS style STFs Maybe with the Na'kuhl?

But arnt the Temporal agents bit the bit referencing current characters, and the TOS Era character seperatly as a new character...

Article said Koenig and Chris Doohan as his father, nothing about Shatner.

Plus the voice over is the guy who played kirk in the trek continues thing

My guess is that once these TOS captains complete their episodes, they can time travel to the future and play the existing episodes common to all players.

Yeah, I saw that Twitter post shortly after I posted. Being able to use TOS skins on the T6 ships makes sense. Still, has there been a T5 C-Store ship that wasn't able to upgrade to T5-U? I can't think of any but my mind isn't what it used to be.

    You know, functional. :p

I wouldn't say safe guess really more they can create and hence charge us for if they keep them separate and add bits to each now and then

hope this isnt a one sided facion expansion otheriwse it will be just incomplete, if the roms and klinks are not included
    Very much this.
The pack looks great, and I would buy it if there was one single KDF ship and costume in there. But, nothing. So they'll get nothing from me unfortunately.

$270.50/£186.74. that is a lot of money for virtual items!
You think this is expensive? lol
Try Star Citizen, you can easily drop over $1k on certain packs and even a single ship over there.

The Klingons in the video have TOS era pants and boots. I'm expecting that they'll be adding in more stuff to the packs, like they always do, but if you already have the TOS klingon uniform you'll probably get those items for free anyhow.

Whether they'll be any additional stuff for the Klingons or Romulans remains to be seen. I did notice that the only ships for those factions in the videos were the ones that already exist, but there is a chance - albeit a slim one - that they could still be working on additional ships for those factions that aren't ready yet.

    Time will tell.

I really God damned like the Gemini, but hope we can use Connie Refit parts on these ships, in the Gemini case, using Stargazer/Dakota/Constellation/Cheyenne parts would make my day.

Been waiting for anouther recruitment drive, gonna roll a Catian ENG.

I do however really hope the Eternal & Ouroboros are cross faction C-store ships, as I have the Krenn, Korath, Rozenko, and soon Paradox on my Gorn Sci.

Lastly I really like the look of the Nautilus, I could see her in my Shipyard.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth

again, depends what is useable by who which they are very unclear about; as the TOS story is with Scotty and Chekov so is fed side characters and new ones at that

The TOS unis for Klinks and Roms are already in the store, they don't count. Given Cryptic's longstanding preference to pretend the other two factions don't exist, I'm not holding out any hope.

Dont assume that just because they use the term Federation on those T6 ships that they cannot be cross faction. In the 25th century the Federation and KDF are all one big happy family as part of the Federation. *crosses fingers and toes this is the case*
