I was trying to decide between a few different pics and ended up watching a bunch of TOS episodes on Netflix. One thing that struck me was that the original Enterprise was always well-lit, no matter how deep in space they were supposed to be. The visual effects of the time (i.e. models hanging by wire) meant that the ship always looked like it was floating leisurely through space. I thought this image captured the iconic look of the original series best.

Hm... seems the manual use of the img tag didn't take... *thinking pose*
I decided to upload an old photo I found sifting through a stack of photos on my desk in my ready room. It reminds me of the quiet times, before the iconians and the trauma and strife of recent years. Back to the vintage Earth Space Dock, before it's destruction and rebuilding.
Please don't mind the coffee stain in the top left corner.

Ok, I know good art (and this IS art) when I see it -- my gazing-at-the-wormhole shot truly sucks next to this.
Well I've used this one as a desktop background for a year or two now. Only regret is the purple hull on my X. Can't remember which mission it's from, other than a klingon arc one. I always liked how it makes the Enterprise look completely dwarfed.
"The T'liss in its element" sneaking around in an obscured region of space.
(I also had some old shots of VERY pretty environments from back around beta or so...but the resolutions are FAR too low for use, and with all the changes, I doubt I could find my way back to those places based on just the view! )
What started as a routine patrol of the Argala system has resulted in a chase across the known galaxy. The Tholians are proving to be extremely persistent in their dogged pursuit of the Riviera; however it is my firm belief that my crew can keep the ship going at maximum warp until we return to Federation space. Should the Tholian vessel disable our warp drive en route, I have ordered the entire crew to battle stations - if they attempt to take us, we'll be ready.
*In case you're wondering where the "Tholian" ship is, it's here.
A Moment In Time
After demolishing the hidden Klingon facility responsible for creating planetary WMDs, the Federation is in hot pursuit of fleeing Klingon vessels harboring the facility's destructive payload.

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

Captured by Tholians
Huh?
End of month, end of thread, I think. But there's still a few days, since they extended February's contest to March 5th.
