That's not fixing the broken bone, that's just putting a bandage on it. What we IMHO should do is instead make aft weaponry just as useful as fore weaponry.
Well that would be great to have some new special weapon like the cutting beam in reputation but the devs seems to be stuck on console, torpedo and beam array/dual cannons pattern.
No, more 360° weapons wouldn't fix this. I think that there would need to be more worthwhile weapons/equipment that could only be mounted on the aft slots. So far, the only equipment that meets the "only aft weapon" requirement are mines, and those are grossly underused. Mainly because there aren't many scenarios where mines would be more useful than firing weapons manually.
As for OP, get yourself Krenim Imperium, from the things you said in this thread, it seems likely that ship will fit you the most, though it might not be "big" enough for your tastes.
I am talking about cruisers and you are talking me about escort.
You are wrong all the line if you don't have understand that. I am talking about balance I am not looking for a ship.
I don't think slow turning engie-heavy ships should have 5/3 loadout, people are just gonna go with arrays on them anyway (and that fifth fore slot is going to take something from somewhere else to keep the ship balanced, not just one aft slot). And for broadsiding 5/3 or 4/4 is really absolutely the same thing. Sacrificing consoles slots for bunch of RCSs is a no-go imho because those slots could be occupied with universals boosting damage, crit, crit severity etc, and would benefit any DPS build better.
Why keep talking about the slow turn rate. The actuals 5/3 cruisers already have slow turn rate. That change nothing.
Bortasqu' = 5.5 turn rate and only 18 inertia...like someone pointed out earlier it has one of the slowest turn rate in the game and I believe it is the lowest inertia (Whale of a Vo'Quv is only .5 slower turn and has a little more inertia as listed on the wiki)
Kurak = turn rate of 9 and 50 intertia...definitely a lot faster.
So please...stop using the argument that the Battlecruisers are slow ships, when you're trying to make claims with the slowest ship in the game practically.
Lol what are you trying to prove?
I can do the exact same thing as you :
Elachi Sheshar = 6 turn rate 25 inertia.
Qib battlecruiser = 11 turn rate 55 inertia
So please try again.
I am from Belgium and english isn't my main language, sorry if I make mistakes.
So you're just trying to take away the 4/4 simply because you don't like it and you don't think it's 'balanced'?
Seems like there's more of us who like 4/4 than there are of you. I don't think STO is going to change anything for just one person. Why would they listen to one person? Why would they want to change all those 4/4 ships into cookie-cutter 5/3s? What would be the point of getting different ships if they were all the same loadouts? That would lose STO money and it wouldn't benefit anyone.
Leave us alone, let us have the ships we want and let us load them out to where they suit us and you keep your 5/3s and load them out how they suit you. Stop trying to make everyone over in your image.

Of course I know I won't get it, but I hope that many players who see this and didn't try the 5/3 ships yet will give it a go and find out how these things are much more powerful than their 4/4. And the day Cryptic will sell more 5/3 ships than 4/4 (which is I think almost the case for rml and should already be done if there were not that many 4/4 ships) they gonna change something.
But well you can let this thread die... you just need to not answer anymore
I am from Belgium and english isn't my main language, sorry if I make mistakes.
Well, why didn't you just start a thread inviting people to try 5/3 ships for themselves instead of telling STO that 4/4 ships should be changed to 5/3? You might have gotten more positive responses.

Maybe creating a firestorm was his plan the entire time. In which case, as Dr. McCoy said on Rura Penthe, "I think we've been had."
There's a lot of talk about shipbuilding, well you use an arc welder and...
While the game does not require the Trinity of ship types, it looks like the Armada System encourages it for many of its Missions.

Sorry OP but I fly ONLY 4/4 ships, with every character, and have for the entire 4 plus years I have been playing. Even if there was a tiny possibility of this actually happening, which there isn't, my answer would still be no. Additionally, all of your assumptions about people who play 4/4 ships are wrong, ranging from simply incorrect, to unmitigated idiocy that I find impossible to believe anyone could think is actually correct.
I'll just leave this here. Common sense/logic, is no longer common.

Cryptic may very well release more ships with a 5/3 load out in the future. But thinking that they will completely scrap the 4/4 load out completely as well as reprogram all the current ships to 5/3 is a bit ridiculous, and probably a forlorn expectation. I don't think all ships should have the same load out, that just makes no sense at all.

I am happy with my 5 fwd ships atm (using Atsika, Musama and fleet Kurak) and I also use some 4/4 ships (Bortasqu' T5U and fleet Qib). On my romulans well I only use the Scimatar. After readings all the comments I guess I am wrong somewhere. I can't get used to be forced to use beams arrays on my 4/4 ships to make them viable. I would like to have the choice on my weapons and the system actually don't allow me to use fwd weapons on my 4/4 ships.
I am from Belgium and english isn't my main language, sorry if I make mistakes.
My son in law said he'd have liked to see the Nandi changed to 5/3, but he's happy enough with it as is. I like it because I can choose to either have a cannon build, a beam build or mixed build and be happy with it.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
And I still haven't received an answer to a perfectly legitimate question. If all he wanted was to get people to try 5/3, why did he not start this thread with an invitation to others to try it rather than ask the devs to force us into 5/3?
Now a LTS and loving it.

No matter how hard I try (just spent another 800k dilit and 40m EC on a build) the 4/4 ships are far behind the 5/3 ones. The only way to get a 4/4 effective is to set up a beam boat with FAW, but still, there is no way a 4/4 can beat a 5/3 or even a 5/2 in dps. If you are trying to make a front firing ship with a 4/4 layout you'll end with 9 max weapons firing forward (arc beam X2 - antiproton or tetryon, nothing else - and cutting beam). Turret? Deal 3x less dmg than fwd weapons.
You also gonna argue me than 4/4 ships don't have enought turn rate to be effective. That's not true. With a good setup you can have a nice turn rate in any ship and most of the 5/3 ships have similar turn rate than the 4/4 ones.
Also, sci ships should get a 4/3 setup like the Annorax but that's another story.
how much dps you getting btw? have any parse data? i can tell you now your not doing it right, im doing a sustained 64k dps with a 4/4 ship and seeing some guys go even higher with a 4/4. just sayin let us see some numbers and maybe someone with experience here can help you with a build.
