Hey, who else thinks it would be really cool for Cryptic to revamp the NX-Class, maybe give it a unique shield system that, instead of shields, is polarized hull plating? Maybe have some phase cannons and photonic torpedoes as available weapons? Does anyone else like the idea of flying a T6 NX with polarized hull plating instead of shields?
I'd rather have a T6 Apollo 13 mission capsule, with a lunar lander console that mines nearby planets giving you 5000 dil per minute, with no cool down, and is more powerful weapon/ability wise than any other ship in the game.
Does it come with the "One Small Step" console that gives all enemies a -50 maneuverability and allies +50?

Trust me I'd love to see more tv show stuff but I don't think it's in the cards. I have $30 reserves for when and endgame Connie enters the game
And we all know what the answer to that will be.
I would personally love to get more Enterprise era stuff. Ent. MACO uniform, actual Phase Pistol, a plasma pistol from Broken Bow, that MACO rifle that taunts us on ESD...
Maybe even an actual NX interior.
I'd like to see this for every bundle....instead of just costumes it comes with emotes and weapons. If you get the TOS bundle it comes with communicator whip out for beaming up and TOS tricorder scanning.

Don't tell me this isn't canon. If the ship designers for the show wrote the book and designed a lot of the ships, it's canon.
It's not canon, sorry. It doesn't matter who wrote it, it isn't caught within the definition of canon CBS gave. That being said, I too own the manual and consider it's information as-good-as canon personally, but if someone throws a tantrum about it that it's not canon they are technically right.

Is it because the book was published under the Paramount name, so it's in legal limbo? We have the Scimitar in-game, that's Paramount, and it's considered canon.

How come? I find the possibility of using an NX-class refit an interesting prospect. Or at least a ship inspired by the NX-cass, perhaps a scale up.
Because it's probably a no-no like the Connie...plus I can't see Cryptic designing a system like that...it just wouldn't be effective...no matter how much resistance you may have, kinetic weapons are going to hit you for 100% damage...you're going to feel that.
I understand that. I'm basically saying that the polarized hull plating is basically a shield-type apparatus, but it's called Polarized hull plating. Or, perhaps, it offers an increased damage resistance to Kinetic damage?
So basically go out of their way to design a whole new system for one ship? Just doesn't sound very feasible...

Like the Ablative Armour Console, polarising the hull plating is power intensive, and just as in the series, would take longer to repair than shields. It's as simple as that, despite having 'miracle heals'. But the need for an updated version, well you already have the updated one designed to work with the tech you have now. On that point, it's good fun flying the NX with MK XIV equipment, I suggest you try that!
Lucky for us, This game isn't a simulation, so power levels aren't an issue, field repairs let you go from flaming hulk to good as new in seconds, and your crew speedily replenish through mitosis.
Yeah....a tad annoying. The goo left over is horrendous to get out of the carpets, so I installed tiles resulting in a few broken necks from the slips, then lino which just got too sticky after a while (a total pain for response times during Red-alert) and grip-strips tore up the mops!

Just to wade into this,
It's probably not going to happen for the exact same reasons that the t5 Connie was never a thing. I understand, however, that it's dissappointing when the Romulans and Klingons have old ships elevated to t6 status.
That being said, there's a lot of coolness to some of the older designs and I think that it would be a big bridge builder on Cryptic's part to make a t6 Connie-esq ship (maybe the t6 sovvie? updated to have a neck) and a t6 esq. Enterprise NX (as long as J is not the letter that goes after the name). I don't know how that would go and how it would look altogether, but I think that a build in similar vein with the saucer and just engines with slim engines would be nice.

The Vulcan-designed ships have a different look that I like. I never got around to buying a D'Kyr, though. In the unlikely event they redesigned it as a T6, I'd have to seriously consider buying it for my main.
But facing facts, I suppose an NX redesign is more likely than that... The "ringship" design is supposedly inferior to the more modern warp nacelles in terms of warp mechanics, so there would be little reason to build a new one. (Not that that's stopped Cryptic before...)
I would conjecture that the T5 D'Kyr was an older ship still in service because the Vulcans built them to last and its rank in the STO system is simply a matter of its relative size and power. The original NX was experimental human technology which was definitely inferior to Vulcan technology at the beginning of the series, but the humans caught up pretty fast.
They should have made the NX more sympathetic to Cochrane's ship, instead of forcing the Enterprise aspect. I also wish they'd embraced not having a transporter and have it focussed on landing.

Are you referring to the Phoenix? That ship wasn't designed to move an entire crew across the galaxy or to defend itself. Everything before the NX was focused on advancing warp technology and nothing else.
The point of the NX in ENT was to foreshadow all of the things that were familiar about the Constitution class. All of that experimental technology had to evolve into their familiar TOS counterparts. The saucer shape and the warp nacelles had to be recognizable as a human design. The NX got an experimental transporter because it was such a standard Star Trek trope that it would have been weird if it didn't. Like most starships, it was never built to land which is why it had shuttlecraft. Phase cannons led to phaser banks, etc.
But if wishes were cow farts we'd all be dead of methane poisoning. It is what it is and we're probably better off that way.

Same here, although I really like the D'Kyr I never came around getting one. Funny thing is, I have a upgrade token lying around that is reserved for one, but I don't want to use the Zen I have in case a Nebula T6 comes around. The D'Kyr is a good deal, 2000zen for the ship and the small craft. I still hope it is somehow given away at one point, though

It doesn't fit as a T6. There's nothing an NX upgrade brings to the role that isn't already filled by another ship.
Unless you want to make a case for an experimental ship in the same way that the NX was.
Since the NX was intended to be a vessel of exploration but ended up as a fighting ship, the NX-Next could be something that fits that particular vibe.
I've been asking for a scout type starship for a long time. Something fast and maneuverable, lightly armed but able to fight its way out of a predicament, and with a science-y feel. Stealthy, but not necessarily cloaked. I'd give it a Tac/Pilot specialist slot as a nod to Travis Mayweather and maybe a Sci/Intel slot to account for the scout's mission to recon/explore. Just maybe give it Sensor Analysis and/or flanking bonuses, if they aren't too OP. Make it something special and unique. That, I might declare a worthy successor to the NX. We don't need another gunboat.

I rather like this idea. Perhaps Cryptic could run with something like that.
If any I could see the NX being a vanity skin for a "light escort cruiser" or maybe "light expedition cruiser" or maybe we start adding a player "frigate" classification. The Miranda, New Orleans, NX (refit) and a T6 interpretation could fit this category, combining the "light escort" perks (flanking, less weapons and hull) with cruiser perks (CMD Eng and a lot of low level uni stations (no two LTC) but without the cruiser commands and instead throw sensor analysis in the mix.
3/3 weapons (maybe a fourth fixed one)
31,500 HP (lvl 50 base)
11 Turn
1,1 Shields
Consoles (Eng/Sci/Tac): 4/3/3
BOFFs: CMDR Eng, LTC Uni, Lt Uni/Pilot, Lt Uni/Intel, Lt Uni
Can equip cannons
Sensor analysis
Raider flanking
Secondary Deflector (maybe?)
Comes with a Miranda/T6 Miranda, New Orleans/T6 New Orleans, NX refit/T6 inspired NX skin

@angrytarg I'm almost a work now but I'll get us propper reply up to that tonight. But the Galaxy itself predates TNG S1E1 by a bit so it's at least five years between the newest TNG ship and the oldest DS9 ship.
@artan42 sure thing. Star Trek just is weird in that regard. On the one end we see retro- and refitting of ships for some odd hundred years, on the other end ships get retired after ten years of service and are suddenly obsolete
Right, now that I have time. First, though I say DS9 and TNG era ships, they generally are slightly old by that point anyway.
The TNG era ships (Ambassador, Galaxy, Nebula, Melbourne {the Nebula prototypes}, Challenger, Niagara, Freedom, Cheyenne, Springfield, New Orleans, and the Olympic, all share components with each other and were constructed roughly between 2300's and the 2350's, 'Encounter at Farpoint' is in 2364 making the Galaxy at least a decade old by then. Apparently the Ambassador was launched in the 2320's but due to the existence of the prototype version seen on the Ent D's ship wall I assume it underwent a extensive refit similar to the Constitution so I added a further 20 or so years to that estimate.
The Sovereign was launched in the 2370's, so I assume the DS9 era ships were launched in bits and bats between 2367 and the 2370's all except the Prometheus and Intrepid which were launched in the 70's. By 2409 they should be roughly in the same state the Ambassador, Galaxy and Nebula were in the Dominion war. Capable but not in tip top condition.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.
