Admiralty reward: I want a real ship.

With the promise of a special ship for completing admiralty chains, I ASSUMED (yes, I know, I should never,) that my fedklink could get an actual kdf ship to fly around in, so he's been working hard on and is well on his way to completing that admiralty ladder. Was also looking forward to the Rom version for my Vulcans once a Rom arc is set up, except....

Now I'm told it only pays out a ship card--not something you can equip and blast away at whatever petaQ are cluttering up your sky, not a cross faction ship ala the diplomacy boff, no, it's just a token that can only be used within the admiralty system. whut????

Suddenly I feel cheated of all the time I've spent on it. I really don't want to sound like a whiney little DenIb Qatlh, but I want that ship.

if it would be too much to give away this 'premier ship' to everyone, then just set a time limit on it--say people who complete the ladder in the first 100 days--that would make whatever the newest is a prime focus for players. OR if it's too late to adjust the rewards now, how about a real ship for future ladders, which would require the completion of fed1 to get to future fed ladders, kdf1 to get to future kdf ladders, or either to get the ship from the eventual Rom, Cardassian, Ferengi, Talaxian, Mirror, Coalition, JH, etc, etc, etc, ladders....

I think they explained it pretty clearly in the dev blog that the Admiralty system would reward and Epic Admiralty Ship... For Admiralty.
Reaching Tier 10 in any Campaign will grant players a unique Epic-quality Admiralty Ship, thematically related to the Campaign in question. Campaigns represent major political factions within the galaxy, with your progression representing a measure of the efforts you’ve undertaken on their behalf, as an acting Admiral.

Why? Each "mission" has much higher payouts than the doff system could ever hope to offer. With featured episodes, I've actually started taking the weekly upgrade reward instead of the spec point thanks to admiralty. It really isn't about reaching the end, it's about the journey and the ph4t l3wtz you get along the way.

Considering you got whales buying every ship there is in the entire game, and the admiralty system required zero animations and no models; budget coding text windows since crafting, it would only be fair if they add some actual content, rather than making it text only.

Personally am fine with admirality, since I never leveled my characters and then that exp got me out of 6 months of patrol grinding AND don't plan on buying ships for admirality...

It's another one of those times where the whales and big spenders get cheated in comparison to us free loaders

If they've got one that has warp capability, I'm in. I've got.... let's see.... one U.S. dollar and some extremely rare and collectable pocket lint.

That's just because your expectations for the reward were unreasonably high. All you had to do was log in and tell what ships to go where, taking about a total of 2 minutes for each character. Does that really seem like the amount of effort that would equate to a free ship? On top of that, Cryptic will be making even more campaigns for admiralty, meaning that they would be giving an infinite amount of ships. Tell my why anyone would buy a ship if that's the case? Cryptic would go under faster than you could say "OMG FREE SHIPS!!!!!"

In reality admiralty is best looked at as a system of making the game more alt-friendly. (I now average 1 spec point every few days on each character.)

At most i could see them giving access to additional ship parts for existing ships that are not often used, but no not an actual ship to fly in game. The only way i could see them giving a free ship via the system is if it is something either low tier five or tier four. Now something like special consoles, doffs/boffs, weapons, and such i could see more than am actual ship.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed that there was no actual ship either, but more so just to see the less than positive feedback and commentary based on the op. After all, this game is supposed to be about getting in a ship and exploring, not sending people to do that exploring for you. What's next? Paperwork? Are they going to make us... I'm sorry, "give us the option to" file all of those reports for Starfleet next?

This kind of just feels out of place for a game like this. I can understand that it's at least a little something extra for all the massively overpriced ships in game, but over all, point and click xp just seems like they're not really trying. Not when it's a game about going out and actually doing things for it.

A free flyable ship would have at least been a better goal than a shiny card, but I suppose Cryptic's never been that great at rewarding experiences.

why not? that's essentially what you do during the summer/winter events; it may take actual action instead of just clicking, but it certainly doesn't take much longer (and in fact, the dailies for those will actually take LESS time to do than setting up TRIBBLE assignments once you get most of the slots unlocked)

you will get your real ship this spring (most like after the mini me grind) it should be a new faction tactical ship or hybrid based on seson 7 and 9 reward ships. the season 9 kobali eng. ship is the highest rated ship card..( this new epic gold ship card not included. )

Why should we get free ships for doffing? The unjustified entitlement is strong in this thread...

In Germany we once had a TV commercial for a travel agency which claimed it could fulfill every wish. Cue a family explaining everything they want on their south sea paradise holiday, until the young son cries "I want COWS!". (also: cue a cow appearing on said spot) It has been memetic for a while when somebody "wants" something.

This is a case of "I want COWS!"

I want a new ship - one that won't make me sick,
One that won't make me crash my car, or make me feel three feet thick.
I want a new ship - one that won't hurt my head,
One that won't make my mouth too dry, or make my eyes too red.

One that won't make me nervous, wonderin' what to do.
One that makes me feel like I feel when I'm with you, when I'm alone with you.

I want a new ship - one that won't spill.
One that don't cost too much, or come in a pill.
I want a new ship - one that won't go away,
One that won't keep me up all night, one that won't make me sleep all day.
One that won't make me nervous, wonderin' what to do ...
    I'm alone with you, baby.

I want a new ship - one that does what it should,
One that won't make me feel too bad,
One that won't make me feel too good.
I want a new ship - one with no doubt,
One that won't make me nervous, wonderin' what to do. ...
I'm alone with you, I'm alone with you, yeah.

Do you wanna fly a spaceship?
Or send your fleet around the moon?
I think my shuttle's coming back, and when it does come back
I'll send it back out soon...

We used to be real captains,
But now we're not, how can this really beeee...?
Do you wanna fly a spaceship?
    I can't, now there's Admiralty.

I agree with the other voices in this thread that the writing was kind of on the wall for this one MeldrithPW. However, I do really, REALLY like the idea, of allowing us to gain a cross faction ship through Admiralty. Perhaps limit it to a cross check on people who have completed Diplomacy and the admiralty of the cross faction. You then get a special token to claim a T5 (upgradeable) ship from the opposing faction. This would be especially poignant as we are currently at peace with our Klingon Neighbors in the story mode, and neither side is giving up the greatest technological advances with the T5U ship.

I really like the idea. It is sound, but it isn't how they ever meant to implement things. :(

There is never any pleasing some players. Here we have anew sytem that rewards lots of EC, Dilth and other rewards for ZERO effort and they want a playable ship as a reward? Why not just demand a I win button? Get a clue it's not like you are having to actually quque up and do an actual mission heaven forbid you actually haveto play the game to get stuff. Oh how sad it is to be you who apparnetly never read or comprehended the Reward Admarilty ships are just for use in that system. How unfair they aren't giving you a ship for nothing golly gee whaa whaa. Oh wait with the Dilth that is rewarded you can I forgot I got the majority of my ships and gear that way. Must have missed the notice the grinding or earning dilth in Admiralty can't be used to get ships... Sarcastic post complete.

I too was hoping for something more then a card, I just hope its not a one time use. Over all the admiralty system is sweet as it is other than the 190/190/190 you get , Like really.
    Positive thoughts.
