With the promise of a special ship for completing admiralty chains, I ASSUMED (yes, I know, I should never,) that my fedklink could get an actual kdf ship to fly around in, so he's been working hard on and is well on his way to completing that admiralty ladder. Was also looking forward to the Rom version for my Vulcans once a Rom arc is set up, except....
Now I'm told it only pays out a ship card--not something you can equip and blast away at whatever petaQ are cluttering up your sky, not a cross faction ship ala the diplomacy boff, no, it's just a token that can only be used within the admiralty system. whut????
Suddenly I feel cheated of all the time I've spent on it. I really don't want to sound like a whiney little DenIb Qatlh, but I want that ship.
if it would be too much to give away this 'premier ship' to everyone, then just set a time limit on it--say people who complete the ladder in the first 100 days--that would make whatever the newest is a prime focus for players. OR if it's too late to adjust the rewards now, how about a real ship for future ladders, which would require the completion of fed1 to get to future fed ladders, kdf1 to get to future kdf ladders, or either to get the ship from the eventual Rom, Cardassian, Ferengi, Talaxian, Mirror, Coalition, JH, etc, etc, etc, ladders....

I hear there are a few old space shuttles laying around they might sell you.

Personally am fine with admirality, since I never leveled my characters and then that exp got me out of 6 months of patrol grinding AND don't plan on buying ships for admirality...
It's another one of those times where the whales and big spenders get cheated in comparison to us free loaders
in star trek you can
Touche!
If they've got one that has warp capability, I'm in. I've got.... let's see.... one U.S. dollar and some extremely rare and collectable pocket lint.
That's just because your expectations for the reward were unreasonably high. All you had to do was log in and tell what ships to go where, taking about a total of 2 minutes for each character. Does that really seem like the amount of effort that would equate to a free ship? On top of that, Cryptic will be making even more campaigns for admiralty, meaning that they would be giving an infinite amount of ships. Tell my why anyone would buy a ship if that's the case? Cryptic would go under faster than you could say "OMG FREE SHIPS!!!!!"
In reality admiralty is best looked at as a system of making the game more alt-friendly. (I now average 1 spec point every few days on each character.)
Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!

This kind of just feels out of place for a game like this. I can understand that it's at least a little something extra for all the massively overpriced ships in game, but over all, point and click xp just seems like they're not really trying. Not when it's a game about going out and actually doing things for it.
A free flyable ship would have at least been a better goal than a shiny card, but I suppose Cryptic's never been that great at rewarding experiences.
(Looks at shiny new Sunrise set of phaser - quantum goodness) nope, I can't agree.
why not? that's essentially what you do during the summer/winter events; it may take actual action instead of just clicking, but it certainly doesn't take much longer (and in fact, the dailies for those will actually take LESS time to do than setting up TRIBBLE assignments once you get most of the slots unlocked)

Why should we get free ships for doffing? The unjustified entitlement is strong in this thread...
This is a case of "I want COWS!"
One that won't make me crash my car, or make me feel three feet thick.
I want a new ship - one that won't hurt my head,
One that won't make my mouth too dry, or make my eyes too red.
One that won't make me nervous, wonderin' what to do.
One that makes me feel like I feel when I'm with you, when I'm alone with you.
I want a new ship - one that won't spill.
One that don't cost too much, or come in a pill.
I want a new ship - one that won't go away,
One that won't keep me up all night, one that won't make me sleep all day.
One that won't make me nervous, wonderin' what to do ...
I'm alone with you, baby.
I want a new ship - one that does what it should,
One that won't make me feel too bad,
One that won't make me feel too good.
I want a new ship - one with no doubt,
One that won't make me nervous, wonderin' what to do. ...
I'm alone with you, I'm alone with you, yeah.
Or send your fleet around the moon?
I think my shuttle's coming back, and when it does come back
I'll send it back out soon...
We used to be real captains,
But now we're not, how can this really beeee...?
Do you wanna fly a spaceship?
I can't, now there's Admiralty.
They don't really do spaceships. They do space probes.
I agree with the other voices in this thread that the writing was kind of on the wall for this one MeldrithPW. However, I do really, REALLY like the idea, of allowing us to gain a cross faction ship through Admiralty. Perhaps limit it to a cross check on people who have completed Diplomacy and the admiralty of the cross faction. You then get a special token to claim a T5 (upgradeable) ship from the opposing faction. This would be especially poignant as we are currently at peace with our Klingon Neighbors in the story mode, and neither side is giving up the greatest technological advances with the T5U ship.
I really like the idea. It is sound, but it isn't how they ever meant to implement things.
For feds, I'd prefer a T3 token. Vandal + Plasmonic Leech for everyone!
