Hi everyone, so I saw the most recent post made today by talonxv. And I'm interested in being a part of this. I was planning on flying the assault cruiser (ent-e, or the regent, unless regent isn't allowed?) I have the recommended minumum weps (green xii's for beams and green xii's for quantum torps) so idk if i'll be able to pull 10k in it. ( i don't normally use phasers so these are the best i have lol) Also, are omni-beams allowed as long as they are race specific?
Also what are the rules about sets/consoles? Are we allowed to use Ico sets? Or do the sets and consoles we use have to be more canon specific?
And what about skills? Are there certain skills/abilities that we aren't allowed to use?

To answer some of your questions.
The Regent is allowed (lovely ship)
Omni-beams are allowed
Any space sets or consoles are allowed... you can have it to push your dps or even cater to a more canon loadout if you'd like
Skills as in boff powers? you can use anything really if that is what you're asking.
Regarding your comment on the dps.. don't worry about what you pull in your ship.. we more about having fun doing to canon style so LOOKS are VERY important. There are some, like myself, who are pushing to see what a canon build can do but that is just to tackle the harder content other than that I wouldn't worry about it.

This is AWESOME to see someone such as yourself tryn to canon it out as well as try to promote it as just having fun.
It's not about promoting STB.. the idea of running canon builds is not new in this game... but it's promoting HOW one can make the end game anything one wants it be as well and STILL well and stay "competitive".
There is going to be some txt babble here so bare with me but still only my opinion and thoughts.
•Neut torp - not the biggest fan of the torp so I don't personally use it... in vids you see the Defiant firing blue quantums and yellowish torps.. photons? (aslo see the Gal fire the same colored ones on occasion.)
•Heavy bio turret - EWW! GREEN! bahaha.. JK... I understand the reasoning for you running it but I can't do green.. orange or GTFO =D
•Omni phaser - PURE WIN! I have to try it out to see how I like it but I like the over mod you chose.. my concern is where it's firing from like if it were to firing from the aft section... meh.. I have to run my own tests on that.
•Rule 62 console - I have to look into getting that as it may be worth slotting on my Akira.
•As Tyrinuis pointed out.. the mixing of your consoles is interesting.. though that is how I first did my tac consoles boosting what I had loaded as opposed to the 1 main type... may have to go back to that haha.
•Powers - KLW, I want this power but not at that cost and I don't like the paywall that is there for either to obtain it. I can get it.. but I can also get a bunch of ships at that price. I want it not to really increase the dps but to have some different flavor from the normal HY/TS/BO/FAW etc. A2ID, I never thought of using that but I can see how that would make the defiant more nimble. ST, I usually go for TSS1 and go HE2 for my heals but having a shorter CD on ST that maybe something worth trying on my builds.
•Zemok, NEVER going to have him but if an opportunity came up in aquiring him.. I would try him out. I usually spam APO/APB hoping that reciprocity keeps then global.. cycling them going APB/APO/APB helps for the first cycle and the rest is dependant on how much I TRIBBLE off the enemies haha.
I'd mentioned to you that I had found my Defiant build and I will be posting it up.. soon haha. I've only parsed it 2 times but it's hit 30k & 40k which I'm sure in the right team config it can go higher but it's more about flying her how I/we saw her on the show.
I find myself wanting to push my canon builds higher but also not at the same time. Push it so that they can do the harder contents but not because some of the fun factor and or visuals get given up in favor of the all mighty dps... FAW anyone?.. and to BO.. GTFO AKA DISMISSED! LOL!
I think it's about having fun in STO which is and will be very subjective for each person... some want to kill things fast... others.. want to kill things.. but maybe not as fast. The hope is.. whatever your happy doing it.. do it!.. whether that be chasing the almighty dps... going canon.. or just having a fun build.. try to make it so that your having fun and it makes you stay in STO... I was about ready to throw in the towel TBH as I was running an AP ship on a FED ship because I was taught that was what I was supposed to do.. NOPE.. slapped on some phazurs and torp nom noms and then .. BAM the love came back for STO!.. that's me though.
What I like about the canon idea build in sto is.. it is a challenge in itself to get every last dps you can get in ISA.. BUT I do like however after some time in reviewing my logs... I find that I can outperform other ships that run AP or KLW which to me means canon is a way to go.. for some. Will it top the dps charts.. maybe one day?.... if not.. it's ok.. canon works and I think that is what I and some others are out there to prove.
Ok.. that's enough from me... It's so great seeing someone such as yourself go canon for the sake of trying to emulate what we saw on screen.. I'll just leave this here..

Ok Captains here is my build on my main. Currently run balanced power levels. DOFFS for cooldown are: 1 Tac Team, 2. Emergency Power to ? 3 Sci Team, 4 Cannon Abilities, 5 Evasive Maneuvers. Question can this ship pull 10k DPS? stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/?build=atlasshrugged_11245
Sorry it took me a while but here's some suggestions for Atlas Shrugged
- filled in the cmdr eng with another copy of DEM
- dropped CRFI and replaced with CSVI
- dropped your Aux2sif to lt and bumped up EPTW
- dropped your PH with HE2
- dropped the shield gen and addied the Temporal Disentanglement Suite console from an FE (can't remember which one)
- dropped the 1 eng console for the ZPEC from the Rom rep
- and when you can... drop the phaser relay for another spire locator (you go x4 with your locators if you want)
Other things to conisder is upgrading your weapons/tac consoles when you can.
The name of the dps game is to AOE everything when you can so powers and piloting ensuring that you in the optimal position will help greatly.
I'm no means the best ship builder but these are some things I just suggest you try if you want to break 10k and keep true to what you have going on atm.
Welp, having PC issues again... it had shut down unexpectedly overnight Friday, noticed in the morning, and when I powered it back on it shut down a few seconds after attempting to load Windows. Did some troubleshooting, but since I wasn't having issues booting from a flash drive, I assumed a corrupted Windows install, did a system reset, and played without any issues for the rest of the night.
This morning, same issue, except now it won't boot from anything. I'm thinking it's a bad PSU, ordered another one, 2-day shipping, but it's the weekend so I probably won't be seeing it til Tuesday at best. Hopefully that's the issue.

Ahhh that really sucks.
I've had the same issues as you were having, but in my case it really was a corrupted Windows so it always was a problem booting up windows. Sometimes my hard drive would just stop working and the system would freeze. Did a Windows reinstall last sunday and it took me a whole day to donwload and patch the game and setup everything but now the problems are solved.
I think there really are gremlins or hampsters that get in your pc if you play long enough STO!

Bah!... sorry to hear you were having problems... hopefully that does get fixed soon and that you were able to do what you wanted to do this weekend from your other PC.
I spent a good amount just upgrading stuff across the board on my toons.. made some mistakes along the way haha but all in all I did as much as I think I needed to do.. got some epics along the way.. J'war sadly didn't get any gold love haha!

So I was fiddling around with my Defiant T6 build last night...
I turned it into a semi torp boat.. ish... and when I parsed it... it hit 48k (with death) and that was with 3 others hitting 46 - 48 with 1 50k so I can see this hitting over 50k in a certain team comp.
I was trying for more of a energy hitting build but that was only hitting around 20 - 30ish with my orginal build on it hitting around 20k.
I certainly want, in the end, to just have fun but it would be nice to know how far I could push it and still keep it screen acc.
I'll throw down the 3 builds/layouts I have for it... I will say tho... last night had much lulz ... hahah
Man that bites... hopefully your friend can shed some light on your problem.

Well, we reached the same conclusion. It's tough to diagnose, the way it powers on briefly and then shuts down, and runs just fine in the BIOS. So that, paired with the outrageous prices I'm seeing for compatible components (it's a pretty old system at this point, and these are as much if not more than I paid for them originally) is making me lean in the direction of buying a cheap refurbished PC as a replacement next week and saving for something better down the road.

Seems it's that time of year again as well where we head over to the Q's WWL. I'll be doing the race and some the other stuff to get the modules so hopefully we'll see you there.
Haven't had a chance to get on STO yet, still taking care of drivers for the new hardware and however many Windows updates I missed. I can't wait to see how much better it runs.
I just wanted to share some of the clips that I watch on a regular basis which were the same clips that gave me the idea for STB as well as of late the inspiration of builds... I'll get into more of that... in the meanwhile.. enjoy.

As I mentioned above... in the past week I've gone back to me trying to get my builds looking a bit more screen acc with less spam.. looking at you FAW! The ship as of late that I've been using is the Sovy.
What I've done is essentially turn her into a torp boat or my definition of a torp boat.. 1 beam array fore & aft with the rest of the slots being filled with torps... Quantums and Photons... and a Transphasic... cuz.. dem crits reasons hahaha but can replace with another Quantum or Photon if I feel like it.
I have TT/TS3/HY3 & BO1 and man... for me... it's such a beautiful sight... FOR ME. The Nemesis battle scenes is the look I'm going for and TBH... just going for the looks at this point. She does 30k and possibly can do more but she is such a beauty to fly. I'd replace BO1 with SS if I could but just a fools dream.
I do have my higher dps ship ready which is the FAW spamming MVAE which is my go to ship for the harder stuff but I am really just having fun atm... That's what it's all about right?
It's hard to get a real screen acc but one can try and really.. it's up to one to make this game what they want it to be... and for me.. it's about staying canon which to others can have a totally different reason and that's ok.

EDIT: Here is a quick and dirty idea of my Sov build
Posting this here after Trizeo asked how I had my Sovereign set up being so mobile. This build is how I see a canon Sovereign class, much like in Nemesis, she is very nimble, getting up to 30 degrees of turn and averaging around 70 impulse speeds at max speed under full impulse, I personally use the movement Command along with the gear used, maxing the inertia at 50, so she doesn't slide around at all when moving. She fires a high volume of torpedos along with phaser fire thanks to the torpedo trait.
There some gaps in the traits, as Shield Technician is missing from the builder, and my fleet hasn't worked on the resreach lab so im locked out of those trait slots. On the ship itself the Build is missing the Terran rep console, so thats what the gap is. First thing you might see is the amount of gold, I spent alot of time tweaking this ship but mostly kept the same weapon systems, and over time I've managed to get them to Epic slowly, maybe a waste of time, but this is my main ship.
Still toying with it, but mostly minor tweaks.
And last bit, yes I know I loced myself out of any science seating. Crazy I know.
If you are lucky enough to have http://sto.gamepedia.com/Emergency_Conn_Hologram_(FED) from last year's Crystalline Event you can make cruisers incredibly fast. I did it once with the Sovereign with High Yield Torpedoes.
It's almost TOO fast, but lots of fun.
Sadly none of my Alts finished that project. They have it slotted though, so I'll probably get it next CE Event. It's also very fun for the D'Deridex, though that's even harder to fly.
Thanks! Trying out a Drake build as suggested by M'ky. Freed up some Eng slots for me to use CF1 and Rally Point Marker 3. Also started the upgrade process (starting with the sci consoles). I'm also trying out the Radiant console from the Iconian set. That, the Dauntless trait and Rally Point is letting me share some nice heals.
Stats from the run:
ATKS In: 687 ATPS: 4.39 (77.4% of Team)
DMG In: 657,897 TPS: 4,206.51 (62.6% of Team)
Heal Out: 701,674 HPS: 4,305.00 (76.7% of Team)
DMG Out: 6,533,989 DPS: 43,676.40 (17.2% of Team)
Still working on my flying. I am rather new to flying beams (and broadsiding) and I am not used to the slower turn-rates and higher inertia of cruisers.
I am really enjoying tanking so far. Keeping everyone's HP topped up either by keeping aggro off them or through my heals is pretty fun.

So I was fiddling around with my Defiant T6 build last night...
I turned it into a semi torp boat.. ish... and when I parsed it... it hit 48k (with death) and that was with 3 others hitting 46 - 48 with 1 50k so I can see this hitting over 50k in a certain team comp.
I was trying for more of a energy hitting build but that was only hitting around 20 - 30ish with my orginal build on it hitting around 20k.
I certainly want, in the end, to just have fun but it would be nice to know how far I could push it and still keep it screen acc.
I'll throw down the 3 builds/layouts I have for it... I will say tho... last night had much lulz ... hahah

Well, we reached the same conclusion. It's tough to diagnose, the way it powers on briefly and then shuts down, and runs just fine in the BIOS. So that, paired with the outrageous prices I'm seeing for compatible components (it's a pretty old system at this point, and these are as much if not more than I paid for them originally) is making me lean in the direction of buying a cheap refurbished PC as a replacement next week and saving for something better down the road.
Update: Hardware ordered -- I'm getting a pretty nice upgrade.
Anyway, during the Groupees charity drive, I picked up keys for ships I already owned with the intent of doing a giveaway in the channel. Since that won't really work out with my current issue, I decided to donate them to Mr. Osmosys' giveaway over on r/sto:

Haven't had a chance to get on STO yet, still taking care of drivers for the new hardware and however many Windows updates I missed. I can't wait to see how much better it runs.

I just wanted to share some of the clips that I watch on a regular basis which were the same clips that gave me the idea for STB as well as of late the inspiration of builds... I'll get into more of that... in the meanwhile.. enjoy.
They also get me pumped for some STO pewz! hahha...
As I mentioned above... in the past week I've gone back to me trying to get my builds looking a bit more screen acc with less spam.. looking at you FAW! The ship as of late that I've been using is the Sovy.
What I've done is essentially turn her into a torp boat or my definition of a torp boat.. 1 beam array fore & aft with the rest of the slots being filled with torps... Quantums and Photons... and a Transphasic... cuz.. dem crits reasons hahaha but can replace with another Quantum or Photon if I feel like it.
I have TT/TS3/HY3 & BO1 and man... for me... it's such a beautiful sight... FOR ME. The Nemesis battle scenes is the look I'm going for and TBH... just going for the looks at this point. She does 30k and possibly can do more but she is such a beauty to fly. I'd replace BO1 with SS if I could but just a fools dream.
I do have my higher dps ship ready which is the FAW spamming MVAE which is my go to ship for the harder stuff but I am really just having fun atm... That's what it's all about right?
It's hard to get a real screen acc but one can try and really.. it's up to one to make this game what they want it to be... and for me.. it's about staying canon which to others can have a totally different reason and that's ok.

There some gaps in the traits, as Shield Technician is missing from the builder, and my fleet hasn't worked on the resreach lab so im locked out of those trait slots. On the ship itself the Build is missing the Terran rep console, so thats what the gap is. First thing you might see is the amount of gold, I spent alot of time tweaking this ship but mostly kept the same weapon systems, and over time I've managed to get them to Epic slowly, maybe a waste of time, but this is my main ship.
Still toying with it, but mostly minor tweaks.
And last bit, yes I know I loced myself out of any science seating. Crazy I know.

It's almost TOO fast, but lots of fun.
Sadly none of my Alts finished that project. They have it slotted though, so I'll probably get it next CE Event. It's also very fun for the D'Deridex, though that's even harder to fly.
Here's my updated Canon Galaxy Tank Build. Any comments/suggestions are welcome. I'm new to beams so I'll need all the help I can get.

Still working on my flying. I am rather new to flying beams (and broadsiding) and I am not used to the slower turn-rates and higher inertia of cruisers.
I am really enjoying tanking so far. Keeping everyone's HP topped up either by keeping aggro off them or through my heals is pretty fun.
