I'm kinda fond of the Vor'cha. Just, sleek, manacing, built for war. Wonderfull ship. Plus Defiant, for the same reasons.
On the other end of the skale: most crytic designs. Worst of them all: the Klingon command cruisers. Someone wanted to create really ugly ships. Congrats, they are ugly ! Even uglier than the Imperial class and the Ha'apax.
Best: Elachi S'Golth. Nice lines/shape, and the crystal-ish side lighted areas are very appealing. Would be even better if you could change the color of the glow.
Other good: Ar'kif/Ar'kala, Faeht. Orb Weaver, Hestia
Worst looking: Malon BC. Looks like a toxic waste tanker (Now in fairness, it IS a toxic waste tanker, but not very aesthetically pleasing...)
Personally, I L-O-V-E the Heavy Cruiser. I like the kitbashing options and it really feels like a ship that could be a protagonist of some Trek series, precisely because it does not feel so big, indestructible and all-powerful, like most of the new t6 ships, thus leaving some space for adventure, not just another "captains log, I FAWed another 100 borg to death today" ;-) For the worst looking... I never really grew fond of the star cruiser and I have to confess I don't really like the defiant, no matter how canon it is...
BEST -- too many good candidates here... Hestia, Manticore, JHSS, KDF Pilot Ships, Gal-X re-skinned original model, USS Defiant, USS Sau Paulo, Krenim Anorax Dread, etc.
There's such a huge spectrum of love-it/hate-it across so many ships! But I think it's funny that I can post one image that covers both sides. On the left you'll find one of the ugliest ships in the game. On the right you'll find one of the prettiest ships in the game. Both from the same release. Go figure!
Also worth honorable mention is a ship that I love to fly, and should be beautiful, but always seems to render completely ugly in-game for me - The Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser. Might just be for lack of a super high-end GPU?
oh! a special mention for the obelisk carrier. this ship is strange, weird etc, but at the same time this ship is really nice. i would like to have a T6 upgrade of this ship. (don't want to pay 600 lobis for the t5-u upgrade)
I definitly love to fly the KDF DSD, too. But I think the Rommy one is just slightly prettier in her lines. Unlike the abomination that is the Fed DSD.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Other 'Worst' Non-Canon Contenders: Romulan Pilot Ships.
I bought them for their stats recently under the assumption that "I'll pretend it's a miniature Scimitar," after flying them still finding them distasteful, like an unfinished rush-job with randomized textures.
As a result, I abandoned the Morrigu and Vastam (for now, anyways - bird overload) and got the Hestia, Prometheus, Presidio (surprisingly good looking unlike its other variants), Venture, Galaxy, and Yamato.
If Cryptic designs more specialty ships that are equal rush-jobs, they can count my sale out of it from now on.
I definitly love to fly the KDF DSD, too. But I think the Rommy one is just slightly prettier in her lines. Unlike the abomination that is the Fed DSD.
The Rom one is nice and sleek and rommie all around. But I think the KDF (with a KDF skin) is really standing akimbo in a doorway not letting you in with those shoes (metaphorically, not literally).
And I think you are mistaken, the left one isn't the Fed but the Yridian version. Just look at the wrinkles.
My mother was an epohh and my father smelled of tulaberries

I would say these are as well as the carrier. There are really no ugly ships in STO unless you include a borg cubed. There really are none we all have our favourites and not so less.I would really like to fly my very very favourites those being the Constitution and Miranda all variants.

Out of all the funky designs, you have to pick on Captain Crusher's ship? Also, that was a paramount/CBS design before STO even launched...
Well... I can't find an updated pic of the Olympic from STO... but I found an older pic of her.
Canon version:
I'm pretty sure they changed the model to be more canon but like I said, I can't find a pic
No they didn't.
But I'm hoping they'll rename the one ingame as the Pasture Class then release the canon version as a refit (similar to the Constellation release).
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

'I'm not a soldier anymore. I'm an engineer.' Miles O'Brien: Empok Nor
'...Starfleet could use you... It's a peacekeeping and humanitarian armada...' Admiral Pike: Star Trek
Worst looking is the Scryer. Flying pizza slicer/donut, with weird hull material, incomprehensible design with two awkward nacelles slapped on top of it. Ugh.
I need to get to him. I can't just leave him out there alone. - Sometimes you've got to makes sacrifices, Lara. You can't save everyone. - I know about sacrifices. - No, you know about loss. Sacrifice is a choice you make. Loss is a choice made for you. - I can't choose to let him die, Roth.
Worst fed: Connie (it's horrible, worsened by everyone's obsession of this supposed iconic starship).
Weather you like it or not is immaterial. It is iconic.

It's obviously the most practical as well. Why waste space with deck plating when you can have all your crew and all your consoles floating around inside a giant empty force field?
Since all the consoles will need to be wireless, there are fewer deaths from console explosions during battle since there are no high-voltage EPS lines powering them. There is also no plating falling on you during a structural integrity failure. The forcefield protects your crew from enemy fire as long as the warp core remains online. This type of design is so superior to existing ships it should be made the standard for all future vessels from this point foward. Anything less is a death trap.
No more of this! Use Horizon standard architecture for all future Starfleet vessels!

Its like looking at a Car wreck with Fatalities, its just awefull to look at but you just can't look away.
Considering it's such an unusual style i expected the Gurumba to be mentioned here a couple of times by now.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
The winner of the Fed beauty contest is Hestia. The winner of the "other beauty contest" is the T6 intel cruiser.
KDF: For the gold, it's my kitbashed tac pilot raptor, with a more Vor'cha looking head. The Negh'tev was just one red or orange deflector dish away from the top spot. Who ever thought that yellow was a good color was wrong. For last place, it's the Guramba/Kolasi. I found all 3 above mentioned ships rather fun.
Warbirds: My kitbashed, tac beaked, otherwise sci configurd command warbird, with the Faeht as a runner up. The race to the bottom involves the pilot warbirds, though that's the most I have to complain about. The winner of that contest has wings that spread out instead of down. Someone obviously beat those poor warbirds with the ugly stick before they got released.
I think the opposite, one of the best designs, as long as it's the fleet version which has the flat warp nacelles. Its shape suggests pocket-battlecruiser, something that has almost everything of a full size tank, but handles better and isn't such a big target (visually, as it doesn't have any +defense as escorts). Combined with Arbiter skin, it's essentially a battle version of the regent assault cruiser from a visual point of view.
Worst looking is the Scryer. Flying pizza slicer/donut, with weird hull material, incomprehensible design with two awkward nacelles slapped on top of it. Ugh.
Took me a while to come to terms with it, until someone pointed out to look at it like a mobile mini-DS9 or a science laboratory, which is what it is. The holes in the center could be viewed as spaces for the drone swarmers to enter or exit (despite coming out the back) and as a serious recon-science observatory while cloaked behind enemy lines or in deep space. I have to agree about the nacelles however, but they can be switched to the Eclipse ones and it meshes well with the only drawback that there's no more bussard collectors at all which did look good on the original nacelles. Also, the hull space inner circle can be closed off completely, but possibly only in the fleet variant.
About the other Fed intel ships, the Eclipse (battle)Cruiser I understand is one of those you either really like it (I do) or really dislike it, but the Phantom is real nice all round, especially with the fleet nacelles, and as close as it gets to a flying saucer. But then again, I'm not a Defiant fan, and find the visual concept of it in DS9 is very poorly done to depict a full size ship scaled down for battle (and if I understood correctly not to require much crew or take up precious room on the space station), which Cryptic's Arbiter pulled off really well.
For Feds, I really like the Command Cruisers. They have a nice design, great textures and they kitbash really well. I also have to admit, as someone who was never a huge fan of the Galaxy Class, the T6 Dread is absolutely stunning. Whoever did the model for that and the Andromeda did a truly amazing job, these ships are really nice. Honorable mention for top notch Fed Ships are the Tempest Class and the Odyssey. I really like them both.
Negative for Feds: The king of all horrible ships ever made is the Eclipse. It's shockingly, surprisingly, unbelievably bad. With the Phantom Nacelles it can look.. passable, but this ship really looks like someone submitted it as a joke and they put it in by mistake. Other really bad looking Fed ships are the Phantom (Flying pancake), The Sovereign (Great ship on the screen, the in game model is terrible,) and the T5 Avenger. The Deflector looks like it was made out of legos.
I pretty much like all the Romulan ships, the Vastam is beautiful as are the rest of the Command ships (again.) The T6 Double D is pretty nice too. The only Romulan ships I don't care for are the Pilot ships, they are pretty ugly.
The best awful looking ship is the Scimitar. It's butt ugly and yet I keep finding my Romulan drifting back to it because it's just that good, even compared to most T6 ships. That ship is like a prison... I keep finding myself trapped in it's ugly, ugly shell.
Oh, that's not the topic? Best AND worst looking ships...?
In that case:
Best: B'rel, B'rotlh, Mat'Ha, D'deridex, T'varo, Faeht, Deihu Command Cruiser, Constitution Refit, Galaxy, Eclipse with Phantom nacelles, Prometheus/Hestia, and the Pathfinder
Worst: Hegh'ta, HoH'SuS, Qib, all the KDF Command Cruisers, Kurak/Mogh, Dhelan, anything that starts with "Ha' ", the Scimitar, all of the Pilot warbirds, any of the D'deridex alternate skins, Avenger/Arbiter, the Defiant, Guardian, Scryer, Galaxy-X, any of the Galaxy alternate skins barring perhaps the Andromeda (but the pylons are still terrible), Ajax, Aquarius, DSSV, and the Chimera.
... probably missing a few from both categories but... meh.
