Figured I might have voted on the one trailing (at least at this moment. Go #TeamGamma!). Umm all cheering aside, the saucer design of Gamma is by far my favorite, I'll admit the hull was a little wanting, in my opinion, the overall design was the closest to what I would design. The funny thing out of all the hull designs, the one I liked the most was Delta, I just hated that saucer design.

I actually liked the one with the wide flat round saucer (Delta?) the best of all of them. I can live with Alpha based on that isometric view though.

Alpha for me, looks like it belongs in the federation better than the Gamma

Thanks to the new artwork Ms Trendy gave us, I do like Gamma more then I did before, but still not enough to get my vote this round. Alpha looks more like a carrier, in my opinion. I could see Gamma as an escort carrier though.

As others have said though, in the end Omega will win it all.

#TeamAlpha, yet again. The new design makes me certain that this will come down to the (inevitable) Alpha/Omega showdown.

I really wish Alpha had more a 'butt', but at least is has something in the rear of the ship rather than just superstructure.

I'm voting Alpha, though overall I hope either Epsilon wins (mostly because the whole outboard nacelle shtick Starfleet has going on doesn't seem to fit right for a carrier) or we get multiple ship part options that lets me build a kitbash with the Epsilon style nacelles.

    Gamma looks more massive.

I will never understand all these votes for an Escort that's a Carrier.

Why not just make the Defiant model a little bigger and call that a Carrier?

Its just an artist drawing, there is no way to compare the sizes of either ship, what if alpha is twice as large? now if you put these both next to a romulan scimitar for some sort of size comparison and one of them was smaller then the other sure, I could easily buy an argument that one was smaller then the other.

Anyone thinking escort needs to take another look at all the windows on these things, that in itself says huge. With this new artwork, the Alpha design is beginning to grow on me, looking at the Gamma now, it's saucer shape seems kind of pointless, there is no function to the wide flares sticking out to the sides with the cutouts in the back. If they had a purpose like bay openings or impulse engines they would make sense, otherwise the visual impression is that of the cloven hoof of some giant animal.

Alpha looks like it protects the fighters a bit more (if released aft), which is a pretty smart design given that the pets are at their most vulnerable at launch and up close to enemies. That said, the design of gamma's hangar is rather nicer. What tipped my vote was the hull configuration. Alpha's bridge (in the prelim illustrations) wasn't as apparent as Gamma's was, with the sensor pod giving it a mix of real carrier and nebula feel; while Gamma's was pretty clearly visible. The biggest flaw in modern naval vessels are the command towers. They make a rather large "Here I am, hit me." sign for anyone lucky enough to target and launch attacks. Take it out, likely take out the entire ship.

That said, I did prefer the bulkier look of Gamma, but the 'saucer' reminded me a little too much of the Alita class. I was a little turned off by Alpha's flatter look, but I am partial to the Oracle class saucer with the deflector front and center, which ultimately tipped the scales for me.

I'm going #Teamalpha Originally I liked gamma more, but when I saw the new art renders and the bridges design I was sold, really hope this is an engineering or tactical carrier, not another science one!

To me, Gamma looks like it's upside down LoL. The top nacelles are tiny while the bottom are small, compared to Alpha and and Omega. It just looks weird like that.

That's odd... considering it looks more like the federation built, space faring carnival cruise ship than a sports car to me >>

I went back to the alpha vs beta thread and found only one post on page 10 mentioning a sports car, and while they voted alpha, their post said they like sigma best as it looks like a hot sports car to them. Were they SUPER confused and referring to alpha? Perhaps. We've seen heaps of greek alphabet soup up these threads, but it's possible their comment was actually directed at sigma and declaring their support for it just as people started supporting omega right from the start so... yeah.

Judging by the windows I'd estimate alpha to be larger but that could just be intel-window style trickery. I also suspect that gamma could be wider while alpha is taller. But all around I'd assume the devs plan to make these ships approximately the same size, but there's no way to tell without size reference.

I originally really didn't like gamma but I like it rather well in this new art, but then I'm also noticing that at least one glaring feature of the concepts don't seem to have made it to this rendition. All the concepts seemed to have this split in the saucer between the upper and lower half and neither of these drawings seem to have that... so I'm wondering if that got discarded or if I just didn't grasp what that split was supposed to represent or something... but whatever. I think both of these ships turned out pretty darn well and wish we could have seen the other concepts presented this way, the competition would have been way better for it, and could have easily gone in a different direction. But oh well, no turning back, I eagerly await seeing the makeovers of epsilon and omega.

For an actual Carrier I'm not looking for "Sleek", a carrier shouldn't be sleek, so Alpha seems a bit closer to the mark, while it is streamlined it still portrays a sense of mass and the artwork seems to show a greater number of potential hanger openings than are apparent in the Gamma design. I do like the idea of the lower larger engine placement on the Gamma though, I am fond of the Miranda and Nebula, I like the engine placement in those designs that break with traditional Starfleet layouts while still keeping in a familiar design lineage.

Given the choice, and given the new view with which to judge, I will begrudgingly but justly support Alpha.

I still don't forgive it for knocking out Beta, though. #RememberBeta

Everytime they make a ship as ugly as these, I get super sad, because I know life is tough for the visually impaired.

Alpha has trek written all over it, looks like a trek battleship, #teamalpha

P.s this better be a tactical carrier with annorex boff seating. Or com uni & Lt com uni. For any captain to fly.

Alpha looks like a vacuum. Gamma looks the least generic, but still I won't forgive you lot how little votes #TeamDelta got. Shame on you all. pig-29.gif

Gamma could be another Escort or Escort Carrier but looks no way like a a Full Sized Carrier, so out of those 2 Alpha gets my Vote.

    I voted on Facebook.
However, before the next round of votes, Epsilon vs Omega, I'd like to know one thing: will the ship be able to launch frigates? If it will (or won't), that will have a lot of impact on how I vote.

    ***

(Edit: Some thoughts on the terms "frigate" and "escort". In STO the term "frigate" seems to be used most often about the smallest warships, such as Klingon Birds of Prey and the like. In a real world navy, those would most likely be termed "corvettes", which are the smallest warships that are actual ships rather than, say, patrol boats. A real world frigate corresponds more closely with the larger escorts such as Klingon Raptors. I am however aware that STO is a game, not the real world, so applying correct naval terms is not necessarily a high priority unto itself. Also slightly off topic.)
