I have no idea how Omega wasn't on the Final Round. It was the best out of all choices in my opinion. But between Alpha and Gamma, I think Alpha is better.
#TeamAlpha
Err, Omega still has a chance, it got chosen. Alpha vs gamma isn't the final round. There is still Epsilon Vs Omega and then the final showdown.
I voted team alpha, but yeah, this new art really did give gamma the fighting chance for my vote that it certainly would not have had from the original concept.
I think it's interesting that gamma seems like a throwback to the nx-01 while alpha looks like it has elements of the enterprise J in it what with that deflector
At the end of the competition, ya'll should post the high res art for all of the contenders so we can really see what we missed out on, you know, a little salt in the wound... just for fun.
The concept artist actually worked on the semi-finalists progressively as they were being determined. It takes a while for them to flesh out full concept art like this, so I've only been able to get 4 of the semi-finalists instead of 8. That way we can have more fleshed out ships and they can still dedicate their concept artist to things such as working on what will be new models, environments, etc.
Given the "more details as the competition progresses" I figured as much. Just there's a world of difference between the concepts and these more detail images. It would be really cool to see the other contenders so beautifully fleshed out. But oh well, alpha looks really good, I'm sure she'd be beautiful in game and I am really looking forward to seeing sigma and omega's transformations.
BTW, is that "build" part of the competition where we get to choose something about the boff layout or stats or something or is the appearance the only part we vote on? I'm just confused what that "build" could be since it seems the graphical part would just be the design and then modeling it.
The Nebula-configured Odyssey needs to be a thing.
While Alpha does have the better design, I still don't get why they don't just add all of them in for one ship. Even from a business stand point that makes sense: add more designs people like to a ship, the better it'll sell...maybe (depending on BOFF layout too).
Because that would be a tremendous investment on their part to sell a single ship. We don't even get many customization options in other ships unless they launch as a three pack, and once upon a time we didn't even get customization options in our three pack, just the same ship with different consoles, lol.

Go, Alpha, Go!

Omega was voted through to its semi-final round against epsilon, so it's still in the competition. Perhaps you mean beta?... or delta? or theta? or perhaps sigma? lol. There are plenty of defeated ships you could be talking about >>

It's gonna be Alpha against Omega in the finals. And Omega is gonna win.
And frankly I don't care and mind much. Jupiter fans will be (hopefully at last) happy and the carrier will look different enough from more traditional FED ships.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
@pwlaughingtrendy Also, I figure I'll throw this out there now as you'll probably need time to drughypnotizeblackmail convince the artists to do it, provided this isn't already a planned surprise treat for us... But if you can get them to make the winning and runner up designs into two alt skins or perhaps the "original" and then fleet skin for the ship, that'd be really spiffy.
The Nebula-configured Odyssey needs to be a thing.
I have to be honest. If the nacelles were all the same size, the polls would probably be alot closer. As much as I love Epsilon, I have a feeling that Omega will win this tourney.
Here's hoping the top 3 or all 4 semi-final designs become alternate skins for each other. Alpha and Omega work well with each other, Gamma could be tossed in with those two as a more aggressive variant, while Epsilon can work as an alternate hull loosely echoing the Typhon carrier (and could be set as a Fleet skin while Alpha, Omega, and Gamma would all be alternate hulls of the same ship).
That's assuming that there won't be a 3-pack like the Command bundles, upon which it's more likely that Alpha, Omega, and Gamma would serve as the hull types.
Although this carrier, assuming it's just a single ship, could possibly lead to a X-faction bundle, using the updated stats to overhaul the Vo'Quv and give the Romulans an original design for a carrier.
I swear, this thing is rigged, think about it. They put something that they know the community will love (majority) next to something that they will hate (sorry minority). Now i am not sure about the Alpha Vs whatever is next, but i am pretty sure they set it up so it would be alpha vs X. BoFF layout they will not like what we will choose, and they already know what we want for a design, so the whole thing is irrelevant. Now to please everybody, give it all 8skins, you would be bound to have some interesting looking ships, and you would get some good money cryptic (in my opinion). And...
#TeamAlpha sure looks great. I wonder what the Romulans will get in comparison?
They better Fakkin get something, roomies need a carrier besides the T4.5 (as i refer to it) Standard Obelisk or the lobi/lockbox ships, they NEED a TRUE Science Heavy Carrier with the setup of one, an maybe some new hanger pet. Not a fighter or a frigate, whatever you would put in the middle with 4 slots per hanger.
Now Klingons, The Qo'Vou, Vo'Quv (whatever it is called) is a true carrier with amazing options for hanger pets, especially the BOP Frigates. Just improve the Boff setup and you are good to go, and give it that fancy dark black skin, that just makes it ominous, and allow us to customize our hanger pets as part of Season XI (not necessary, but i want hangar pets to match our ship, or you could do a thing on right click like "match ship hull", just to make it more simple.
Oh and give em different consoles and Traits, put the traits in for different factions as some 200000 fleetmark purchase or whatever.
Well, I like the sleek of the alpha but if the big clamshells on the front of the gamma are actually hangar bay doors, then Gamma makes more sense as a carrier. I'm not sure where the fighter would launch from on the alpha
I am baffled by the love for alpha. The saucer is needlessly elongated, and it's got the silly flashlight deflector dish in the front, and then a mission pod... Ick... Just no.
I don't think I've voted for a single winner yet in this contest... Well, I guess I did vote for gamma in round one...
Not a huge fan of either, but Alpha visually looks better... It'd be nice to know more about what the ship will be designed for & some general stats (such as boff slots).
Just voting on the visual alone, Alpha looks slightly better than Gamma.
Judging alone on visuals, I doubt I would purchase either of these designs from the C-store...
Edit:
If it plays anything like the T6 Alita Heavy Escort Carrier, then just scrap it completely. That was a complete waste of money, and really put me off purchasing future ships.
TeamAlpha, though with the new concept art, I have to say Gamma does look quite interesting unlike the top-down only view, with some quite good angles and shapes, although I'll take the simplicity and sleekness of Alpha over it for sure.
These new concept images do change things a bit here, although my favorite design, Sigma, has been eliminated sadly, I still have hopes for this one and Epsilon.

If I am not mistaken, alpha's hangar doors are the white slots along the saucer rim just to the left and right of her deflector, she may also have another set of doors further back on the saucer where those other white slots are, but I'm not sure. Perhaps to take in from the side and launch from the front or vice versa. Apparently omega's whole side is one long hangar bay, I don't see why alpha couldn't have two smaller doors to her large hangar. I wonder if the devs would make it visible inside with forcefields on the doors like with the atrox.

Alpha all the way on this one. A very nice look. After seeing these new perspectives, I don't like gamma at all. It's way too pointy.
