having these problems also. Can play other games but STO
Maybe i will play ME3 again while i wait for this to fix itself again. Did manage to get in and get 2 toons through CCA to get my shards... But i didnt actually get to contribute to the stf at all
I guess we stop buying Zen for ships and then they might care . After a stressful week I look forward to play this and it is still not fixed. Was never like this before PWE took this over.
losing a whole day of dilithium, assignments, missions, crystal shard, etc....think theyll own up to the problem and reimburse for all the lost time? pfft nope...theyll come up with some lame excuse or wont say anything at all like usual
This is a problem. It's not just localized to one ISP. I have friends in Michigan, Oregon, and myself in West Virginia having this same exact issue. WTF over?
It's an edge router at inap in Atlanta causing the issues. Cryptic owns it because it's ip is registered to perfectworld still. No one apparently cares though cause it's been going bad since Wednesday. It's getting worse and worse.

This is a problem. It's not just localized to one ISP. I have friends in Michigan, Oregon, and myself in West Virginia having this same exact issue. WTF over?
same issue here in Minnesota i can't even login with out a Connection to the login server times out 15 times or a server not responding and cryptic still has notresponded to the problem
It is now 11:52 pm (EST-US) on the 29th and I haven't been able to play STO for over 48 hours. After the character selection screen it shows the disconnected from server screen. I've posted in the general discussion section in the forums, and its seems this problem is being experience all over the US. I am hoping that PWE is responding to this issue that their loyal gamers are experiencing, and I hope that the Crystalline Catastrophe event will be extended to compensate us for this issue. PWE, how about responding to these issues and releasing a response to our concerns?
So,why is it that this game always has server problems?I play several online games and non of them have the problems that Star Trek does.Cryptic imagine how much money you would make if you had a stable game. Many long term players stick with you because they have already invested many hours in playing. For those that are new to the game, and haven't put in a lot of time and effort to their character, they will eventually leave to play a more stable game.
looks like the login and in game issues are still continuing. Since its apparent that these people have issues understanding they need to fix the game if they hope to get more new players, for those who still want to play it but have other ways to entertain themselve i do have a few other free online games i can reccomend, Firefall, Warframe, and Defiance are nice one to play if you wish to look into them while the people who manage this game look into hopefully fixing this one.
im not even holding so much as a thought about their ability to fix anything, i would not trust these people to fix a doorknob whith how they patch this game (good thing they do not have a home repair buisiness), this game operates just about as well as internet exploder does on a normal day, don't need to have them adding more server issues to the fire, however when the game operates like it should it is fun i won't deny that......just thats a rare sight to see unfortunatly.
One would hope Cryptic would extend the current event by a few weeks or pass out some free "goodies" in recompence (really useful goodies). One would also hope they would do this after "Everyone" is able to get back into the game....
chances are they will extend the event a day or two if this server problem is as wide spread as it appears to be.Still doesn't address the real issue.Star Trek Online has been plagued with server issues for years and it's about time they come up with a permanent solution.
First, I've tried all recommended fixes and even flushing my DNS server, releasing / renewing my IP and other things I've learned throughout the years. No fix to my main issue.
I've been having this issue since 2300 PDT on 28 Aug 15, getting high lag spikes and server disconnect responses from the game to the point that the game is unplayable. I have gotten in a few times but using the command '/netgraph 1' to show my ping, my ping was over 2.1k consistently and spiking around 9.k1 to 9.3k. I understand that there was an issue earlier on the 28th with level3 communications. According to their web site, (https://downdetector.com/status/level3) all issues were addressed and fixed. That said, a quick look at their own map show some yellow spots or service interruptions across the US and more specifically in my area, Seattle.
I've tweeted @trekonlinegame with my concerns and update request, hear nothing back. I'm a lifetime member to STO, and even though I get a monthly stipend from Cryptic in the form of 500 Zen, I still support the game and purchase new ships and other minor items throughout the year. I figure between buying Zen and the lifetime membership I've probably have spent close to $2,000 US since Star Trek online went live to the public. So not hearing back or even seeing an official post stating that they are aware of connection issues is quite concerning, no, deafening.
I play other MMOs, and have in the past had issues connecting to their servers to play the game. I follow those companies on twitter and on other social media sites and have found them to be supportive of people report outages and server instability issues. I have even been tweeted back saying they were aware of the issue and were attempting to resolve the issue. The same company even went as far as posting on their forums an official note stating the obvious, that they were aware of many different locations having issues connecting and that they were attempting to resolve the issue. They even tweeted it and reposted it on other social media sites.
The lack there of communications or acknowledgement of people reporting this issue now for days is getting tiresome. I understand that you have limited resources and in that from the limited resources you have to best figure out how to resolve the issues at hand. I'm not asking for a quick fix, nor am I asking for any sort of reimbursement for my lack of available playing time. All that I'm asking for is a quick acknowledgment/post/sticky/tweet that you are aware of the issue, that you are doing your best to resolve this issue and that if you have an estimate that you share it with us. If no estimate is available, let us know, but please say something.
The last time I saw a post by an admin regarding this issue was back in July. This is getting tiresome, I will still support this game, but my patients is wearing thin. I can only speak for myself in this regard, though many have voiced their displeasure about the way the feel that they have been treated or ignored by you, may not. Do not be surprised if many of your longtime players or even new players start abandoning this game due to the apparent lack of communication between you the company and us the players.
I can confirm that from my end, the game is pretty much pooched. The connection to any server you can connect to us tenuous at best, and completely volatile at worst.
Cryptic's silence is perhaps the most telling thing in all of this. No major news posting, no public responses that I can see, etc.
It's no secret that Cryptic is hemorrhaging money. Perhaps this is the beginning of the end?
Seems to be one of the many things they took from NC. The ability to kill an MMO.
EDIT: Perhaps most damning is that they have disabled non-GM assistance in game. I know full well this worked a week or two ago.
Enjoy and please continue to post your tracert in the thread that is mentioned in the link above.
EDIT: Perhaps I was a little harsh in my previous post. That said, I still would've like to have seen this addressed on either the forums, twitter, or some social media site dedicated to Star Trek Online. I know PAX Prime is going on, and I'm at the Con. They could still take time to address this issue by officially posting something on the official Star Trek Online page...
And I totally agree.... we have to go scrounging around in other game forums to find the slightest shred of information.... I guess the moral is... go spend your money on other non Perfect World games?
No issues with internet on my end. I had no problems up until friday for STO. My internet is still fine today. I am still able to ping cryptic like others have in different posts with good results. If it was the internet I should have seen something. I sent a email to customerservice@perfectworlds.com about the issue just for fun. I am still amazed that they refuse to fix the support site for original Atari/Crypic players.
All services restored from 8/27 network event. Root cause was unexpected issue with routine network configuration change.

Well I know it isnt my connection since I get about 90 down and 12 up. It isnt a RAM issue because my tests show all 32Gb are working properly. It has nothing to do with Video because 3dMark shows both of my GTX970's working at peak efficiency. I know, it must be my keyboard or maybe my monitor.
OK this is hilarious, I start to log in this morning, the launcher says, the website is experiencing difficulties, normal gameplay is not affected. Then I can't get past the character select screen....again.

All services restored from 8/27 network event. Root cause was unexpected issue with routine network configuration change.
