Season 11 - Admiralty System

scurry5scurry5 Member Posts: 1,554 Arc User
Well, looks like it's finally coming.....the end of the Iconian story arc, and, more to my interest, the Admiralty System.

http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9488023

All those ships lying around will finally get some use. What do you all predict? More Doff-like or active involvement in missions?

Edit: Whoops, didn't see the thread in news. Probably will end up being merged.

I still refuse to take the admiral title for my characters. But Commodore/Fleet Captain will do just fine pig-2.gif

But reading that does in fact excite me a little bit. I like the blue colour scheme, the words "hope" and "rebuilding" as well as the notion of ending the (ridiculous) grimdarkness of total war.

Bringing back mirror leeta means a revamp to the mirror universe stuff, though. Not a fan of it, but it is way better than floating space wizards.

    Also please add ARGO jeep.
And please ask for few NW devs for ground combat revamp!

I suppose Commodore is technically an Admiral rank. Thank goodness I don't RP one of those lowly Captains.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.

How will this work for those of us who deleted older ships to make room for other ships. I even have new ships in storage in boxes...never opened.

Oh it's easy really. You buy ship slots then you unpack those ships or reclaim them from Zen store and/or from Account Reward Reclaim.

Gonna keep my expectations low.... I envision a Doffing style system... darn sure it won't be sending my T6 or T5U escort off to do ISA.

So what I'm getting from this:

New Dawn also sees the return of Chase Masterson reprising her role as Mirror Leeta from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, a returning member from the large stable of Star Trek franchise actors.

    DS9 revamp, maybe?

Along with new lore and story progression in Season 11, Star Trek Online will also be updated with new gameplay options in the form of the Admiralty System. Take command of your inactive starships to complete dangerous assignments and gather exciting rewards, while advancing your influence in the Admiralty campaigns. Within this system, each starship is given special traits and stats that must be used to successfully complete assignments. Plan carefully which ships are sent on which assignment in order to meet their requirements and offset various hazards, in an effort to yield great rewards across any of three separate campaigns.

Boffs in command of ships---I'm not sure they'll be any smarter. I hope the ones that I promote to captain will be up to the task. This also raises some questions:

    1. Will there be a new space battlezone where you can take two ships in addition to your own?

    2. Will the space skill revamp that was delayed happen in Season 11? I really hope there won't be too many system changes in one season.

Even a doffing system using ships is an improvement over them just sitting there in dock doing zip diddly squat.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
    What's my position?

More than likely, the system is only going to allow you to work with a few ships at a time... I will just have to rotate them into the active slots. So, I will not have to worry about it.

Sorta like that "Sword Coast Adventure" thing in Neverwinter. Where you rotate out the companions to send them on missions. Works in the browser, can come back to it later, if need be, and doesn't take a lot of time... I am liking it much better by the minute.

I'm actually wanting this to be a real full ship system. Figure you get a free ship every rank up plus the shuttle slots. that means there should be room for what about 6 or 7 ships to go run missions. Different types of ships will be better suited for different missions, this sounds like there will be multiple tracks of missions, like there are in the doff system or the r&d system. I would also love to see a battle zone where you can have 1 or more of your own ships follow you into combat, like how carrier pets or saucer separation works. This literally has me more excited than anything since the release of the Romulan faction!

    So... Ship doffing... Slightly underwhelming.

Describing as mere DOFF'ing may not do the system justice. It has the potential to be so much more, even if it is mimicing swordcoast adventures. We may get to use our Boffs to fly our ships into battle as captain rather than just having an RNG battle outcome, so it may have game play elements in there as well. When we get more info on the system we can say for sure what will and wont be included. Whatever system is used I dobt we will get Gateway access to the system though as that doesn't seem to work some of the time.

I for sure am slightly intrigued as to how they go about doing it, but dont wish to 'look forward' to it as it also has huge potential to be a massive let down.

If we're getting Leeta, aka Mrs Grand Nagus, does that mean we're also finally getting Ferenginar?

And, can someone explain this to me...how exactly are we supposed to be using our spare ships?

Read here: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/neverwinter/news/detail/1001240 and sustitute ship for companion. The die will probably be based off ship seating arrangements so will be Tac/Eng/Sci/Uni and may also include special missions which need a special type of die which we shall call Intel/Pilot/Command.

Die rolling does seem a bit out of place in STO so they may just use a RN instead.

I'm on this side of the fence too. If it is in fact Ship Doffing, then it better lead to opening up player character missions or I just won't bother. Other games are planning to do exactly that with their Doff/Follower systems - Cryptic should reassess its development resources in my opinion to ensure it can keep pace.

I am strangely excited about the Admiralty system, which is weird because I always hated the DOFF system.

From the brief description, it looks kind of like the old Star Trek: Starship Creator game.

Interesting... when I read the news post I pictured in my head somethings similiar to the follower missions that they have in World of Warcraft. I guess I was not that far off.

I would still like to be able to bring a few ships with me places, basically using the ships as BOFFs in space, but I guess one step at a time...

I thought it would be a combat system. If it is doffing with ships, then I hope it's not something simple like "put the highest tier escort in this slot, the highest tier sci ship in this slot, and the highest tier cruiser in that slot." I've kept all my leveling ships, and it would be nice to find a use for my lowly Miranda, even if it's only something like "Volunteer ship for cadet training cruise". On the other hand, I hope the chance of success isn't influenced by what gear you put on the ships you send. My ships in dry dock currently serve as storage for miscellaneous items that I don't have room for in my bank. Having to equip ships that I don't fly with decent gear would be too expensive for my tastes.

It's just a doffing system for star ships. So how do they make money you ask? Well let me tell you. Different doffing missions will require certain types of ships. To be able to do these missions you'll need to unlock ship slots to have a all of your ships available for missions. You might also need to buy certain ships for certain missions. And there you have it.

If this system allows me to send my JHDC with Attack Ship Pets on a "diplomatic" mission... that will make me smile.

and of course a t5u ship will enjoy additional traits that its t5 version does not.

I have to admit. This sounds amazing. So wait. We will actually get to BE ADMIRALS and order our ships around? Instead of just being captains with admiral titles? AMAZING!!!

In the novel-verse, she was Mrs. Ezri Tigan (until she (Leeta) was killed off). Don't know about you but I find that slightly more appealing.

You guys know what is coming with this ? Right ?

You are going to have to "Buy" certain ships in order to complete certain things.....

I hope I'm wrong, but at some point I fear that will be the case...

Isn't it funny how all the women in the mirror universe were at the very least bisexual, but...oh, Worf and Garak were too though, so never mind.
