It took us longer to deal with the Undine (from pre-game to "Mindscape")! With Hakeev! With the Vaadwaur! The Iconians were supposed to be the big-bads with five years of build up and they go down this quick? I don't know if you can make 'New Dawn' good enough to make up for this anti-climax...
...I just find if funny that you can somehow count more Undine related missions prior to their borg-joined story arc (2, though only if you're playing FED) than ones involving the Iconians (Hobus, the gateways, their minions, if anything STO is based on the TRIBBLE).
That says it all really. You're pulling at straws (ie. developing unreasonable expectations for a season [which have all had 5 episodes, tops, that is until now]) to prop up an inevitable soap box (see. obviously doomed expectations) to complain about S11 before we're more than a PARAGRAPH into its PR. Good show, really its quite entertaining.
As for that, kudos to cryptic for following the Iconians up with something new. And the admiralty system, that should be interesting. Good job. It'll definitely keep me hanging on through the looming 10.5 -> 11 dry spell. :P

'Along with new lore and story progression in Season 11, Star Trek Online will also be updated with new gameplay options in the form of the Admiralty System Commendation System. Take command of your inactive starships duty officers to complete dangerous assignments and gather exciting rewards, while advancing your influence in the Admiralty campaigns Commendation categories. Within this system, each starship duty officer is given special traits and stats that must be used to successfully complete assignments. Plan carefully which ships doffs are sent on which assignment in order to meet their requirements and offset various hazards, in an effort to yield great rewards across any of three eleven separate campaigns!'
During the war we destroyed a bunch of Iconian ship, would the Borg get more powerful as a result of salvaging the wrecks? Also what happened to the Voth?
Will be interesting to see how they tie the crafting into this with 'custom' crafted consoles to boost the ability of ships on these missions. We can pretty much be certain it is likely to happen as it can be either or both a dilithium sink and a lock box reward thing.
I see DOff written all over this...

All this stuff made me wee a little mainly down to the fact it looks amazing.
Same, its one of those great moments when I can look at what a video game developer is doing and say "you know what, that's just what I wanted."
And its therefore not surprising that some people are already using this opportunity (positive developments for STO announced) to reinforce their perpetual grumpiness (no matter what cryptic may be cooking up [and I'm almost directly quoting here] its not going to be enough for me).
Its not worth any real concern (even to those making it, its just a reflex). Cryptic will do what they're going to do even with a few more negative comments on an internet forum (they've gotten to this point after all. :P)

So ... the Iconian Invasion is over, but now we're going to get invaded by the Mirror Universe? YES!!!!
Technically it's possible it won't be a new invasion but a remastered (and expanded, at least for RRF/KDF characters) version of the incursion that happens during the Cardassian arc (who knows, maybe it'll be split into a separate arc of its own?). Or some other form of interaction with the Mirror side, for that matter.

That makes two of us...likely more than just two of us. Any other way would just lead to a system full of gaping holes that would be exploited. It would just be Captains having another entire ship's worth of abilities to hand.
I like the premise of the season focusing on rebuilding and what appears to be good ol' classic exploration. One just hopes the Iconian wrap up is...adequate.
For one thing, I always wanted to command a number of ships at once during missions, with a button to quickly switch between ships pretty much like other games where you control multiple characters. (GTA V, Dragon Age, The Lost Vikings, etc.)
I wish the Iconian war would continue for a while, but I guess no so this conclusion better be good. And I mean really good. Also what about "The Other", or whatever it is that M'tara mentioned before? Is "it" going to appear some time later?
It sounds potentially interesting - I look forward to finding out more.
At least the flippin' Iconians will be gone.... The trouble with building these guys (or anyone else, for that matter) up as the Ultimate Big Bad is, once you actually face them (and, inevitably, beat them), they're bound to be a disappointment.
(The scheduling of events didn't do them any favours, either, of course. "The Iconian's Herald Sphere has arrived! Iconian forces are attacking Qo'noS!" "Yeah, I'll be right on that, dude, soon as I've finished building sandcastles.")
I'm honestly surprised.... The Admiralty System actually doesn't seem to be a grind-fest. But why do I get the feeling that in order for the system to even be worth bothering with, we will have to re-gear our inactive ships? I mean it's logical but would be just another grind to add to the mix. I will reserve my judgment until the full details are released. But Cryptic/PWE, you have my attention. Let's hope it won't be a waste.
It'll sound ridiculous, but I was excited by the new logo. I hope that becomes the new loading screen!
I'm actually hoping this is more like the doff system, as there will be less to break, lol...
As for the addition of Masterson, it could be that she offered to voice, so they'll figure out how to add her in somehow... Would be nice to use DS9 as a spring board into the Gamma Quadrant, and encounter a new species! Feels a bit like Trek all of a sudden! Thumbs up!
Overall, I'm excited. Star Trek Online continues! In a way, I couldn't care less how much content comes our way as long as it keeps coming.
Kudos and good job!

Yeah, I catch your meaning. I was still playing a futile game of catch-up after Delta Rising and then all this Herald and Iconian stuff popped up... meanwhile I was also partaking in Risa for the new ship. But let me step back..... I STILL haven't even got 1 of my 11 characters to 60 yet. Air-go, I haven't even gotten through the whole Delta story arc yet. But I played the featured missions (although I didn't claim all the weekly rewards for all 11 characters because well, I do have a life) and was disappointed and confused. The featured mission that re-introduces Nog was cool, but the rewards were... meh....... Bottom-Line, you're right, the scheduling was a bit awkward, if not, daunting.
Not sure what to think about the admiralty system at this early point.
I usually have one, well-tested, reliable space gear on a single ship that I consider a personal favorite and fly with that character most of the time. The rest of the ships are husks at best until I decide to fly them.
If sending these ships out on assignments means that now I have to (heavens forbid, hope I'm wrong) grind rep gear for every ship I have so that they actually have a chance at succeeding in whatever I send them out to do, no thank you.
I might be convinced to craft basic stuff, slap them on the inactive ships, and be done with it, but that's about it.
And I hope inactive ships won't require BOffs to man any bridge seats... not enough boff slots.
I sincerely hope that I'm wrong.

I'm an honest man, I keep my promises and I promised a few "Tales of the War" back that if the Iconians end up going down easy, just having to find "The Other" or something like that, I was gonna scream...
ARRRGH!!
Well, it was either 'The One' or 'The Other'. I wonder if it was an existential question or a matter of 'either-or'?
It'd be ironic if it's Wesley Crusher. Honestly speaking, it would be nice if Wil Weaton could return to Star Trek (though mind you, more down-to-earth).
So long as "sending old ships out on missions" in the Admiralty system, isn't just a reskined (or even tacked onto it) doff system, I welcome it with open arms.
If it is just a doff system where you send ships instead of officers to complete "Missions" it will be a fail before it even starts.
Just my opinion mind...
My idea of being an admiral is having my ships commanded by my choice of captain (like one of my bridge officers) in one of my other/old ships.
It would be physically one of my old ships (including consoles and weapons alike) and be in missions with me as a companion I could give orders to, like the carrier pet mechanic, but much more involved.
Sending a little picture of my ship to do imaginary missions, just wont cut it anymore...
Would be nice if you could go to your ship's Ready Room (or whatever for those without such amenities on their ships) and have a UI to select which of your Bridge Officers to operate/crew the ship that you want to send out. Would be cooler still if the one you pick to be in command of that mission were to walk into the ready room and sit down at a chair or stands at attention while you brief them on the mission.
Mind you, there'll probably be an option to pretty much make it a regular DOff mission because people would end up wanting to shorten it down to the bare bones.
This sounds really promising Unknown civilisations are always nice to build content on. I assume this will be a completely new, Cryptic developed civilisations like the Deferi are? Or some other ancient race that were only mentioned in the series?
on the other hand, the name 'new dawn' just might be more than a name. with any luck its an indication that someone pulled their head out and sto is moving in a dramatically different direction.
No, I think you're right on with apprehension. At the very least if it does turn out to be awesome you'll be pleasantly surprised, if not... then you were prepared for it ahead of time.
Or at least that's how I'm taking it.
Getting an impression it'll be 'doffing with ships' instead of something truly epic...
