Sorry, butt is this just duffing with starships then? I really hoped it would be "space-away-team-style" to actually have your other ships commandeered by your bridge officers forming a five-ship-fleet, like an away team on ground with your bridge officers. Remember when the future plans were to "promote one of your bridge officers to captain and assign her or him to a starship in your ship roster". I guess this ain't the case now, right?
I don't wanna muck about it, it's just ... a slight disappointment. Of course I am looking forward to see new additions to the game and I will certainly try the admiralty system, butt it's just not what I hoped it would be.
Including Wesley Crusher and Leeta into the storyline is certainly a nice thing, new and old voices will get more show time. Looking forward to hear Wil Wheaton and Chase Masterson (again).

Shouldn't this be 10.6 or something? Season 10.5 was only released roughly 3 months ago.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Just hoping it doesn't require your "inactive" ships to be equipped with consoles and weapons to be more effective for these missions.
Unless they're consoles and weapons I can build, because my R&D tab is starting to look like Q-branch. (Sighs, "Just bring it back in one piece, 007.")
So ... the Iconian Invasion is over, but now we're going to get invaded by the Mirror Universe? YES!!!!
Or we're invading them.
Either way I just want some answers on how the Terran Empire came back into power and gained enough resources to launch incursions into our own universe in just under 40 years.

Season 10.5 was released 1 month ago. This was the announcement which means that it'll probably be a October/November Release like Season 8 & Delta Rising.
1) Happy PWE/Cryptic just did a simple announcement on the official site for Season 11 - and it didn't end up like the (IMO) PR cluster**** that was the Delta Rising STLV announcement where that was announced at last year's STLV; and it was a good 10 day after said announcement that ANYTHING official about DR appeared on the actual STO site.
2) Glad to see Chase Masterson was asked, and agreed to return to voice an actual character in a story; and not just be relegated to a character that is just full of random chatter in STO.
3) I too realize that the 'Admiralty System' WON'T be a full hands on tactical combat experience like in STO story missions; but as others have stated, I hope it's a more hands on real time strategy (perhaps turn based) system; and not just a glorified reskin of the existing Doff Assignment System using your inactive starships in place of slotting Duty Officers. I hate to say this, but it would not surprise me in the least if a glorified Doff system was what the Admiralty system turned out to be - but I'll reserve judgement and hope for the best until more infor on it is released or it appears on Tribble for whatever player testing/feedback Cryptic and PWE allow.
I'd guess that a key thing about the Admiralty System is going to be range.
DOffing conceptually involves shuttles/away teams in proximity to the ship you're flying.
Whereas if you're commanding proper fleets of ships...
The range could reasonably be the whole quadrant or the whole galaxy with the transportation and communications we see in this game.
One other thing I can see is that this might make personal starbases an eventual necessity... and maybe that could account for some of the player housing desires that ship interiors have never fully made good on. Entire starbases populated with people in uniforms you choose. Maybe have our DOffs show up (we're approaching the point where most of the photoshopped DOff elements exist in the tailor). Maybe our starbases could even be lively places like DS9 where we face invasions (Kurland here), break up fights, have promenades of our own choosing with merchants and amenities, and focus on figuring out how to make our starbases places other admirals want to visit (one thing might be geographic convenience if player starbases can have different locations and you can see any of your friend's starbases on the sector map).

Nope, they've already said S11 comes in in September.
I'm always looking forward to more story, but i agree this arc was too short. The iconians were *literally* the reason behind every single thing in the game, and the war has lasted less than a year (both out of the game and ingame (remember it took us like four years to go 2409-2410)<- so in-game would be like 3 months of war)
The new admiralty system? they pointed out quite some time ago about a system for using un-used ships in missions (like a 5ship fleet). That would be so cool, but if it is a second doff system, it is far less exciting. I hope it is the first one, but that "Plan carefully which ships are sent on which assignment..." is not very promising.
I really hope this is more along the lines of 'Space away team'....and not 'doffing, but with spaceships'.
That would be nice, but it certainly doesn't sound that way:
Plan carefully which ships are sent on which assignment in order to meet their requirements and offset various hazards, in an effort to yield great rewards across any of three separate campaigns.
That doesn't sound like your bringing them with you like an away team.
Plan carefully which ships are sent on which assignment in order to meet their requirements and offset various hazards, in an effort to yield great rewards across any of three separate campaigns.
Wait.
Does this mean everyone has access to three different campaigns to choose from or that you guys made separate Federation, Klingon, and Romulan campaigns?
So I'm going to be updating our official announcement with more exciting stuff later in the day, so be sure to stay tuned.

Is that the reason my original post in this thread (which was my very first one in these shiny new forums, by the way) was scrubbed from this thread? Because what I asked in that post is going to be addressed in the updated information?
I worry that this means we're going to need to fully equip them and upgrade them to get better results, and that since this is content, they still won't be doing a damn thing to fix all of the broken things.

Kinda. As STO canon currently stands, it took us like four years to confirm that we had gone 2409-2410, but we were in 2410 earlier than that. Obviously it's a bit fluid, since the current 'at this point we were definitely in 2410' in-game point was originally much earlier in the storyline before being moved to the late 40s level area.
Take command of your inactive starships to complete dangerous assignments and gather exciting rewards, while advancing your influence in the Admiralty campaigns. Within this system, each starship is given special traits and stats that must be used to successfully complete assignments. Plan carefully which ships are sent on which assignment in order to meet their requirements and offset various hazards, in an effort to yield great rewards across any of three separate campaigns.
My hopes are up, this could be interesting.

Basically it looks like this is going to be the STO version of neverwinters Sword Coast adventures where ships are sent out in the same way that followers are sent out. Each mission has tasks to complete and certain folowers (ships) arre better at some tasks than others.
There might be some truth to that, but I'm betting it will be different as well.
What I mean if that it might be like Sword Coast Adventures, using it as inspiration, but using mechanics that make more sense for STO's mechanics, as well as taking advantage of new ideas that could be applied to it, and things they learned from doing sword coast adventures.
I think it could also take advantage of preexisting features, not just ships, but Boffs, Doffs, and the Reputation system.
After all it says you can advance in the admiralty system, so they maybe so sort of system of advancement, maybe levels within it with major benifits.
I'm looking foward to it.
I also expect a new reputation system, although it maybe tied to the Admiralty system, a new specialization, lockbox ships, and maybe ques or an exploration system.
I'm an honest man, I keep my promises and I promised a few "Tales of the War" back that if the Iconians end up going down easy, just having to find "The Other" or something like that, I was gonna scream...
ARRRGH!!
...Less than a dozen episodes... less than ten episodes... the big, bad, Undine-Manipulating, Romulus-destroying, Dyson Sphere-controlling, Gateway network-owning, took the whole galaxy just to drive them away 200,000 years ago "Demons of Air and Darkness"... and we 'beat' them in less than ten episodes after they show their face?
It took us longer to deal with the Undine (from pre-game to "Mindscape")! With Hakeev! With the Vaadwaur! The Iconians were supposed to be the big-bads with five years of build up and they go down this quick? I don't know if you can make 'New Dawn' good enough to make up for this anti-climax...
I'm hoping we get at least 2 or 3 more episodes in the current arc, or else it will be a rather disappointing arc.
I'm also hoping that the incompetent, narcissistic, sociopathic, condescending halfwit that is Sela has nothing to do with the resolution of the arc, but that instead, I get to finally shoot her in the face soon. She is an escaped prisoner, after all, accused (and guilty) of crimes against peace, crimes against Romulanity, crimes against Remanity, failure to discharge command responsibility, and a host of other crimes.

This. I hope promoting BOff to captain will be more than just clicking "Promote" one more time.
Other than that, looking forward to this update! Admiralty system sounds awesome!

Either way, I hope we'll be able to have more than one ship of a given class now.
i sure hope so !
