I just wonder how many times we will need to spent our real money for the same ship we already bought for real money from ZEN store?...I've already bought Armitage Heavy Escort Carrier. Not even mention the constant increase the level of difficulty of PVE's to make us to buy "better" ships from ZEN store...But it's just not fair. I've bought ship which suddenely become too weak to comfy play PVE's even with really good equip. Because they just made T6. You will bought T6 for 3-4 months they will make T7 ot T6-super duper extra ultra console and increase dificulity of enemies by several % for you to feel you have to change ship. And Pay...and Pay...and Pay. And no...noone exchanging Dilithium for ZEN because it's ridiculous 1 ZEN for 270 Dilithium...with 8k refine rate per day, while Neverwinter have about 20k refine of Astro Diamonds. Why STO players are worse? have no idea. Cryptic...we was hoping that you will make something sensible for players who already Payed you money for This Escort ship. But no. Crytpic! When you stop to spit players in the face?...
@pwlaughingtrendy In the stats blog, the T6 Qin states it has 5 tac consoles, 3 engineering consoles, and 3 science consoles. In the C-Store, it shows 5 tac consoles, 3 engineering consoles, and 2 science consoles. Which is correct? If the KDF ship is a T6 Fleet straight out of the store, I will buy it. If not, I will pass.
I just wonder how many times we will need to spent our real money for the same ship we already bought for real money from ZEN store?....
However often is needed to keep the game online.
If STO keeps going for a few more years, there will eventually be another ship cap increase.
Level Cap increases happen in every MMO every few years, as often as it needed to get people to keep playing and regrind new gear or spend money to get the newest stuff. But also realize that it took STO about 5 years to make its first ship level cap increase. I think the next won't take quite as long, but 2-3 years still seems to be possible before it happens. Who knows if you even care about the game by then. But if you do - why not spend more money on the game, if you like it so much it lasted you 2-3 years?
But for now - Tier 6 is not absolutely necessary. Upgrading the ship will still allow you to well. Just not as well as with fully fledged Tier 6.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.

The whole T6 is better than T5, T5F, and T5U is TRIBBLE! Most T5U ships are better than T6F and a lot of T5 ships are on par with T6.

You were looking at the Fleet entry; the C-Store entry is above it, with "•Console Modifications: 5 Tactical, 3 Engineering, 2 Science". Stick with the Pilot Raptors if you want right-out-of-the-box Fleet quality, with no Holding restrictions either if you are in a newer/smaller Fleet, and a full console set bonus comparable to the other factions.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
I would love to get the set, but I'm having Zen purchase problems.
Hmmm, I'm having problems with trying to purchase Zen with my Steam Wallet. What's strange about it was that just this past week I purchased some Zen using Steam Wallet.
Set Bonuses
Advanced Tactical Systems (3 pc) – Passive
–Recharge Time on Tactical and Pilot Bridge Officer abilities
+Accuracy
+Critical Hit Chance
However on tribble, the Consoles have the 3 pc set bonus as: Advanced Tactical Systems (3 pc)
–15% Recharge Time Reduction to Pilot Bridge Officer abilities (no mention of tactical)
+3% Accuracy
+2.5% Critical Hit Chance
Is/was the blog wrong? Or is the item information on the consoles on tribble wrong?
Just trying to make an informed purchase here. Thanks!
It reads the same way on live. Can I please get an answer to this before the ship sale ends?
BTW for those wanting a T6 Miranda:
Formerly Known as Protector from June 2008 to June 20, 2012
Please enable us to buy a token with Zen to faction change a 25th Century FED to a TOS FED.
Q: Why isn’t the Qa’Tel Flight Deck Raptor’s Destabilized Tachyon Emitters console part of a set?
A: No other Raptor variants came with a console, so there were no consoles with which to make a set.
I've got to ask: isn't that a bit disingenuous when in both of the examples where KDF ships are restricted from acquiring a console set bonus... there are cross-faction consoles that are part of that set bonus? Why are cross-faction consoles, already available to the Fed/KDF/Rom before these new sets are released, not being included in the possible console set combinations? I'm not expecting any higher tiers for the set bonuses (in fact, I'd be in favor of capping the set bonus at the lowest tier available to all factions), but why does:
Console - Universal - Destabilized Tachyon Emitters+ Console - Universal - Point Defense System = Set Bonus
...and yet...
Console - Universal - Destabilized Tachyon Emitters+ Console - Universal - Point Defense System = Nothing
Yes, by the way, I am asking about all cross-faction consoles, for all factions; not only would it open up more options for all players, it would help fund the game by increasing demand for cross-faction consoles... which we all know come from lock boxes.
Already explained long time ago, different thread, different person but the same logic behind. Cryptic logic... Geko, Gorgonzolla whoever make these choices, same dirt... indeed "disingenuous" choices.
Q: Now let's talk about the KDF.
Geko: Kay Dee what now?
Q: The Klingon faction. You know, not the Federation.
Geko: El Oh El.
Q: So, is anything being done about that crew mechanic? Because you keep pushing Klingon Battlecruisers...
Geko: [laughs] Internally, we call that the "KD F-you" mechanic. Because it screws over the Klingon faction for no apparent reason. You're welcome!
Q: But why?
Geko: They killed Kirk's son! Klingon bast*rds! They killed his son!
Q: OK, so why no science vessel?
Geko: Because battlecruisers.
Q: But no one wanted battlecruisers. KDF players want Birds of Prey, carriers, and science vessels. And decent ship traits.
Geko: They killed his son!
Q: So, no KDF science vessels?
Geko: Well, we released a ton of battlecruisers. With free "KD f-you" mechanic built in. They didn't sell well.
Q: No one wanted battlecruisers. And people don't like the broken crew thing.
Geko: His son! They killed him!
I've bought ship which suddenely become too weak to comfy play PVE's even with really good equip. Because they just made T6.
You gotta be kidding me. With any tier 5 ship you have more than enough to go through all the advanced and elite content. You dont need and you never ever needed a T6, not even a T5U. Now, it seems to me that the problem here is you have really bad piloting / building skills. It is not cryptic's fault if you guys want to buy every shiny they release, even if there is no need to.
Interesting ships...only 4 forward weapon slots...and 3 rear....but only 2 device slots??!?.....sooo more advanced ships seam to get bigger but are unable to hold more.....they also seam to be losing weapons.....so....this supposed heavy ship....has less weapons then non-heavy escorts and less device space....I also noticed it holds less consoles....
I guess I am just not understanding the logic with these ships and why anyone would want to use them.
Power without Perception is Spiritually useless and therefore of no true value.
I still can't decide on it. I checked it out in game and it looks amazing. Love the Alita skin and the revamped Akira and would fly it in a heartbeat. But ugh, why can't the Alita have the Qa'tel seating. I really want the second Lt. Commander seat. Bleh.
Q: Why isn’t the Qa’Tel Flight Deck Raptor’s Destabilized Tachyon Emitters console part of a set?
A: No other Raptor variants came with a console, so there were no consoles with which to make a set.
Uhmm... SuQob Raptor came with Bioneural Warhead. Puyjaq Raptor came with Graviton Pulse Generator...
To think they could have made something really powerful and then sold it in a lockbox but no they did not. Makes you wonder if they are okay because its not like them to skip out on a cash grab.
After years of being the underdog there are now so many Raptors that I don't know which to fly anymore! Which is a good thing. I love the Mat'Ha. And then the pilot ships came out. They are amazing. And now we get a new one?! I ran a few STF's with it last night and I was surprised. It is a lot sturdier than expected. I'm running it with beams and the DPS is not bad at all. The fact that it does not have a console set is not really a problem, in my opinion. There are so many consoles to choose from these days. I have to say I am happy. Thank you Cryptic. Now if we could just get our new BoP
Posted this on reddit and wanted to post it here as well:
Excellent job on the carriers Cryptic, particularly with the aesthetics on the Akira and the klingon version. I tried out the new akira yesterday, and I'm loving it so far. I still need to try out the klingon and rommie versions.
That being said, you should have and can easily make a set bonus for Qa'Tel using the quad cannons from the Ning'tao Bird of Prey or the graviton pulse from the Puyjaq class (t4). Alternatively, you could also make a set bonus out of the bioneural warhead from the Su'Qob raptor (t3). There's really no real reason for excluding the Qa'Tel from a set bonus so get to it please.

It's almost as if you didn't know the ship classses and their limitations and abilities that Star Trek Online had for several years now, pretty much since the start of the game actually.
An Escort Carrier is still an Escort, which either means a 5/2 (that layout was added very late to to the game), but more commonly a 4/3 layout. 2 Device slots is also the standard on Escorts. (It's 3 for Science Vessels, 4 for Cruisers.)
It's a "Heavy Escort" because that is what the Tier 3 Fed Escort was called, too, and that didn't even have a 4/3 weapon layout...

Look again and compare - the only things the base ships have less consoles than are the T6 Fleet variants or Fleet-equivalent T6s (read as: T6 ships that will not have a Fleet variant and are already 'upped' in the various ways).
That said, not every new ship is supposed to be the next king of the galaxy. These are improvements over the T5 escort carriers only, and aren't intended to one-up the rest of the fleet.
Whats with most of the new ships coming have a tactical bend to them? And using the pilot skill/BOff spot. How about more ships that are capable in either tactical, engineer, or science. Or some aimed at engineer or science. How about some more ships from the Andorians, Caitians, Orions, Gorn, etc..
So I want the Alita (even though/because I have the whole Akira-Thunderchild-Armitage line already) and I definitely want the Qa'Tel. I'm "meh" on the starship traits, and I actually do have access to fleets that can build the Fleet version of both, so it makes sense to just do that. But... I end up paying the same cost in fleet modules (2x5), as Cryptic and PWE will have their cut.
So it almost makes more sense to buy the bundle, at its current discount, get both ships (for all characters on the account), the traits and the Romulan ship too (I don't really want it for anything right now, but I might), and then just one extra module each to upgrade to the fleet versions. Right?

Yeah go for the bundle. You also won't get the Alita and Qa'Tel skins unless you buy it. The fleet versions only come with the standard free skins unless you buy the C-store version. So since you have the Thunderchild and Armitage you could use those skins on the fleet versions, but unless you buy the Alita from the C-store, you won't be able to use that skin.
I'm not sure if the ship's appearance is a priority for you though. It is for me which is why I always get the C-store versions.

I seriously find myself wondering what the KDF players did to become the redheaded stepchildren of the game? So many times, the KDF players have been neglected in lieu of Fed and Rom. We're seeing this simply continued with the "Ok, you get T6 ships, but no set bonuses because we don't care enough to feed you guys something that would generate business in sales. We could link together previous ships for a set bonus, but we're too lazy to do that. We could put in new lower-tier ships, but that would take too much work. So, we'll give you just a ship, and leave you sitting in the corner while everybody else gets the fancy presents."
I'm not against the ship, I'm actually quite interested to try it out, but I'm really getting tired of seeing Cryptic/PWE neglecting the KDF players while everybody else gets more in each handout.

Endemic since the start, really. The KDF have been getting the short end since the Atari days. It's actually better than it used to be, believe it or not; KDF-side got a significant improvement / amount of attention, including a few arcs and an actual leveling path that isn't just "run these same five patrols over and over", and now a lot of content is (in theory, at least) made equally for both/all factions, purely as a labor- and cost-saving measure.
As to the "why", it's a vicious cycle - Klingons are less popular than Feds, so they get less, so few people want to play them, so...

The romulan one bit less
