Depends on the toon. Eleya and Tyria use phasers because they're feds (though a couple of Eleya's ships use antiproton), Morgan (Fed Rom) uses Romulan Plasma, Brokosh (KDF) uses disruptors (right now a mix of plasma-disruptor hybrid DHCs and biomolecular turrets).
Hmmm.. depends mainly on the ships I use, and because I like to use canon (not to confuse with cannon) weaponry on my ships it's usually a mix of Phasers + Photons or Quantums for my fed ships, Disruptors + Photons for my klingon ships, Disruptors + Plasma Projectiles for my romulan ships and other "fitting" stuff for my alien ships like Polarons for my Dominion ships, Spiral Waves for my Galor etc..

I use antiproton the most. It's proc is just better than the others.
I do change moods often though and go through phases of running canon ships (phasers), role playing an assimilated ship (plasma), I even rock retro phasers from time to time.
I always go back to antiproton's though. Extra crit damage is too good to pass up.
Which one I use is irrelevant. The one I am working toward on all toons is Antiproton. It is significantly superior to all others, and even more so now with the new sets.

My main tends to use Phasers a lot. Got 6 Acc x3 Phaser Arrays from doing the Delta arc before they changed the rewards, and I got a full loadout of Phased Biomatter on my Phantom that I also use on my Nandi.
My Romulan and KDF tend to lean more towards disruptors, but I think my Romulan also has a Plasma build...
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

What kinda question is this ? well I have a Jem'hadar Captain on a Jem'hadar Dreadnaught so the ship is outfitted with Jem'hadar weapons and I believe it is polaron based. When I had a Fed Captain I outfitted this ship with phasers of course but I like to stay epic but that's my choice someone else might decide to do a Fed ship with antiprotons or plasma beams well I guess it's player based my answer I like to stay as epic as possible ....

Federation - Phasers, but I have use Polaron on one ship.
Romulan - Plasmas
KDF - Disruptors and Plasmas
I have 9 captains. All 3 Fed captains use Phasers currently. I have 2 Romulan captains and both use Plasmas. I have 4 KDF captains; 3 of them use Disruptors while the remaining captain uses Plamsas. Therefore, I make equal use of Phasers, Disruptors and Plamsas and I cannot vote in this poll since there does not seem to be a way to vote for more than one weapon type.
I'm surprised, shocked nearly, to learn Anti-proton isn't in the lead, by leaps and bounds.
AP is soo overrated. Usually people who look for a fun to pilot ship will not chose antiproton. Just only with the terrible weapon sound makes you cry. And most people dont use critic builds like most romulans. For those players, antiproton has no more use that disruptor or other energy type. And because honestly i play for fun, and i dont care if one weapon is "better" , "worst" or watever.
And because people is already tired of so much antiproton and so much antiproton love.
BTW last time I checked a FPER with Phasers was smashing DPS records!
Because it has nothing to do using phaser or other energy type specially because for measuring the DPS it doesnt matter the proc at all unless you are going for a critD/H based build. Phasers are actually amazing.
I use Plasma build and Omni to fill in the rest on my main Romulan Captain. So, Kinetic+Anti-Proton+Plasma and various Tier torpedoes.
I use Phasers/Poton Torpedo on my main Federation Captain.
I use Polaron on my alternative Federation Captain, the beams that look like cannon fire in a Kobali Samsar ship.
Then I use (Nanite)Disruptors on my main Klingon.
So it's rather themed than a favorite. I like to try everything out, for the sake of diversity.
I think I answered "phaser", incorrectly. One character relies mostly on plasma. My main character, for the longest time, has used a science ship with both of the Nukara sets, and so has mostly used tetryon beams; lately, I've tried a loadout based on transphasic torpedoes.
I get why antiproton's proc bonus makes it the most popular, but it's always looked to me as if the other energy weapon types are about the same. So I don't understand why tetryon is consistently treated as the worst possible option.

Keep in mind that many of the high-end playable ships have abilities and available enhancements that are specifically tied to their faction's default energy type. For example, all the new T6 veteran heavy destroyers have Phaser/Disruptor/Plasma Lotus consoles (depending on the faction) which are enhanceable via the appropriate tactical console for that energy type, so it makes the most sense to use all energy weapons of that same type as well.
Other examples include the Odyssey's Chevron Separation and the Prometheus's Multi-Vector Assault Mode, which create autonomous pets of the separated components of your ship. Being Federation ships, those pets always fire phaser beams - there's no way to configure them to any other energy type - but they, too, are enhanceable via the Phaser Relay tac console. So, again, it makes the most sense to go all phasers with those ships.
Probably disruptor. While only one of my toons has it as primary, many of my toons use disruptors early on through most of the early game. I just find them realiable with a proc that is never useless.

The reasoning is that tetryon's proc is less useful after the enemy's shields go down (whereas, say, disruptor's debuff to damage resistance is useful all the time). Technically that's true, but only really if you're playing solo: in a team setting tetryons are better, since they affect the shields on all facings, not just the one you're shooting at.
And of course, tetryon's proc is no help shooting static unshielded targets in ISA, which is for some reason the standard map for calculating DPS. It's good against ships, not for bombardment.

Everyone may have 1-2 DPS builds but most people are here to role-play.
