So since when is there a login queue? Don't you think that it would have been good to warn us of its implementation instead of putting it in and watching them pile up, making me-one who could EASILY resub to this game if I so choose, as one who has in the past-sit here as the 62nd person of AT LEAST 66???
This is why I hate it when companies start using their gaming population as guinea pigs! It leads to things getting a little out of control...I am not upset about the queue, far from it, I think it's a good idea. But I'm just wondering WHY its implementation was not told to us prior to its implementation.
DR is not a draw. It's old servers that are the problem.
They do not have "old" Servers. STO's Servers are rented from and maintained by Cogent, they are not owned by Cryptic. There are literally hundreds of companies who use Cogent as their host. This is not a question of Cryptic not wanting to buy newer Servers.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Okay the login q thing is something that has existed since game launch. The fact that its occuring means there are lots of people trying to login to the game and play. Login q's are present in all MMO's because there are times when they in fact do need to kick in.
In-game queues aren't popping any faster. Either a bunch of low-levels for the recruitment bonuses, or Cryptic reduced logins to try and battle the lag
I noticed that there seems to be more low-level folk around, but I am not seeing the queues pop. So either we have a zergrush of new players, everyone has decided to delta-grind today or Cryptic changed the login limits because of server issues.
Either way, matters not. Doom, gloom, damnation, not going to spend money until devs cater to my insanely specific and wildly difficult to implement idea, this game is finished blah blah blah season ten is the last season and so on.
I stand corrected, I've only been signed up for the game for about a year, with not that full year logged in this game. I've taken a bit of hiatus from the game, just coming back slowly now. But thanks, just was a bit upsetting to see that pop up when I've not seen that before, you know?

Um, they've been around since the STO open beta in 2010. They're nothing new, and if you read the LTS FAQ, it mentions LTS have priority when said queues are enabled. The last time we saw them was in the early days of the LoR expansion release.

Is it not possible that the server capacities were lowered somehow, rather than there being more people? Perhaps or combo of both?
Or maybe, just maybe there were more people on tonight! [/shock][/horror]
I have 2 distinct memories of login queues. The first for me was the launch of season 6 (starbases) and then Legacy of Romulus. I remember sitting well over an hour in the queue for season 6 with my fleet mates lol
A great big finger in the eye for the doom-sayers indeed. Had my fleets talking alot with a copious amount of laughter. I'm just waiting for someone to try to mention that Steam stats only showed 1k people logged in at the time!!! I mean, we've already seen people say they've lower the amount of people that can play at anyone time....ROFL!!! Excuses, excuses, excuses. Time to grow up and count the people doom-sayers. It's over for YOU!
Great work Cryptic...still loving this game after 5 years!!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
Having to deal with a login queue every time I change characters? Another anti-alting change, huzzah.
Though since it doesn't look like there are any more people in the game than before (according to number of zones), I'm guessing cutting corners by leasing less server space from Cogent instead.
I see it for maybe 1 or 2 seconds before getting in - probably different for non-gold.
It seems to kick in around 3600 on steam charts - which is a goodly number but shouldn't be enough to fill the servers unless they are putting on a gate to reduce the lag.

Surprise to see it now. Didn't realize Delta Recruitment was that much of a draw.

Nice to see the game growing
Delta Recruitment and the Double XP week.

I'm LTS/Gold and I have to wait in line too, not a big deal really.
What IS bugging me is the apparent server crash -- I keep getting timeouts when I try to connect.
Let the stupid suffer
That dosen't mean we don't get to stand in the queue... Just that we skip the silvers.
ANY thread on this forum is a Doom Thread.

Maybe a game with territory control and open balanced pvp
People actually still play PVP? I thought we had killed that dead already.
Well then time to try harder. If they won't make this game RP friendly, then you can't have your PVP.

Yeah its seriously dead this time
"Let them eat static!"
get over yourself
Queue waits that you haven't seen since the game's launch :P

Best ever and the players love it!!!

IF that is the case: Fail
As crazy as it sounds, it may just be new/returning people. Seen quite a few, including in our fleet.
Regardless, the important thing to remember is, whatever the reason for the queue, the lag will persist.
