If you think about it, there is an elegant simplicity about this joke.

They played on this board's constant perception of them as inept and out of touch.

They just showed you they're not by subtly acknowledging your views.

    Well played, PWE, well played.
Nothing breaks the tension better than a tankard of warnog - except maybe a good brawl...

i know this is supposed to be a joke, but could you like actually do it? the pvp wile a bit... flawed at launch, would be preferable to the top heavy mess that there is currently.

Dude, do you remember the first weeks in STO pvp?

Like captain level, in basically the purest ships?
All the feds balling up, delivering massed array doom onto klingon raiders that popped up left and right? Ships getting volleyed to death in one DHC run unless RSP was popped on time?
That was a weird and awesome experience.

    ^^

Rolled my first klinker engineer back then, drove a ktanco for supreme justice! DHC crusier FTW! ^^

Got to love the April Fool's joke. You almost got me, until I remembered what today's date was. Thanks for the laugh.

Thing is... This is an April Fools but if you were serious I wild actually be happy. It was a simpler time and the game was more fun. It was more visceral, more engaging. Sure it was scruffy looking and lacked content, but it was a better 'game'...

In my opinion his is a little bit of a backfire.

Hell I'd want this to be real just to see how much has changed.

I would actually support this as an anniversary thing if it probably weren't cost-prohibitive.

To be honest, this would be an interesting thing to do; even just to teach the younger players what it was like. Assuming that is, that they (Cryptic) still had the "old girl's" original build in cold storage.

Great April Fool's joke, and even better idea just for a "one-week event for Redshirt/test server"

    I remember those days. Fondly.

It would have been kinda funny if they reverted ESD back to its original form for the day. That'd probably be too much work for a joke but could you imagine people's reactions when they went to ESD and found that instead? lol.

I would had died of laughter!
Uh your characters are going to be wiped and you'll never get them back and you gotta regrind up everything. For long time veterans we will know exactly what to do being we have relived all of this already its going to be great and everyone will love it!

Unfortunately you no longer have a lifetime account you need to repurchase it. As a bonus you will get a talaxian chef costume and a spatula melee weapon.

    doom! DOOM!!! DOOM!!!!!

After playing the Rebirth for hours now, I have only one gripe:

    WHERE'S SULU??!!11

Also, unsubbed after only 1 week after launch because I'm already level 45 and there's no more content and all I did was grind deep space encounters for a week...

At least the Fleet Actions were full of ships back then!

This is a *great* joke, Trendy. I actually fell for it (and I actually believe this is a quiet way of testing the waters)

Definitely would genuinely test it out.
In some of the discussion notes there was talk of calling it The Legacy of Delta Rising, but TLDR.

    I lol'd. Nice!

The new skill tree looks like you have to now spec into a particular ship type/ class.
If this is true then 50% of my ship will be un-flyable come Thursday.
If this happens I hope you return the merit system to the game also were captain can get free respects by earing merit point.

I understand the why you are doing this but people do fly different ships since you took this skill tree out of the game..
this spec into your ship or class of ship skill tree will just make my hard work mute since I fly dps tanks and escorts..
It also will be the last time I am disappointed, I will take my money to another game and wish you luck PWE..

A shame you guys are using this as the April Fools joke..

Feels like while you are laughing about the joke, and many others are also, it almost feels like there is also a small glance towards PVPers.. and more of a "Yeah.. we know you want this.. APRIL FOOLS you can't have it! Enjoy the Creep Suckahs!!" and then you do a spin-a-roonie before going back to your desks. :(
You think that your beta test was bad?

So good when something we've been asking for for the better part of 3 years is treated as an April Fools joke.

It's ok though, delta rising is the best expansion ever. Oh wait, that was an April Fools joke in itself.

To no sense of humor, all I can say is this would be the ultimate nerf bat. :P

Not far from it now with the mass nerfs in this expansion.
Wow. There is a new KDF Science ship. I'll be!

In some ways I really wish this wasn't a joke. Surenit was an unpolished mess, but it wasn't everything I hate about current sto.

No pathetic money grabs. Exploration clusters existed. You could level how you wan't to level, no forced railroading to pad metrics. Pvp was not just some insta kill gank fest... you had us klinks actually zwooping in and the infamous feddie ball we all derided as cowardly, but secretly hated to see.

All in all, if it was polished up, it would be a better game then the greed infested, unbalanced, power creeped, thing we have now

I agree there. I enjoyed things more when the game launched. Now... it's just a greedy, grindy suck-fest. What I REALLY miss is the diplomacy missions. Those were FUN and INTERESTING!!! The diplomacy corps. was one of the more fantastic additions back then and it really made the game feel more like Star Trek. The exploration clusters, too. Turning it all into doff missions was a bone-head move that took away a great function from the game.

    Hint hint, Cryptic.

You actuality had me going there for a min. until I read

Zephram Cochrane once said, “That’ll do, pig. That’ll do.”

    Nice.
BTW, when compared to all other forms of entertainment, this game is by fare the best value per dollar and the most enjoyable dispite it's faults.

Yeah, it has to be an April Fool's joke, but you know what....maybe they should turn the Redshirt Server into Old Holodeck, give us an opportunity to see what was, especially for all those new players who don't know how much as changed.

Sad thing is, I would end up spending more time there than on the holodeck. That was when the game was about content, story, exploration, and most of fun. Not of that grind now for little to no rewards, and grind for rep.

As long as they allow LoR, and the full Klink faction, I would pay a lifetime subscription just for that, even if I couldn't buy anything from the c-store on that server.

I've seen cryptic make some questionable decisions so for a moment I actually bought into this insane idea. It would be hilarious to hear what players thought after experiencing the original release of STO on redshirt who have only been around a season or two. The experience was so drastically different. Ive been here since launch and my first toon was an engineer in a cruiser as well. I have the perspective to appreciate this April Fools joke. Thx guys, what a hoot. LOL, good one.
