Who says I do play. I generally come to the boards to help other people and maybe put my two cents into the devs with the hope that it'll get fixed. Otherwise I tend to play maybe 15 minutes each day... if that.. long enough to DOff.
Even during the CE event I played maybe 30 minutes.. enough to run 4 characters through the event and DOff... then gone.
But I come back because I love Star Trek... and I have hope for the game.
Because Cryptic really has done some things right... even when they do some things wrong. The game is all around better over all... more content... better graphics... soon to be open sector space...
But for everything two things they've done right... they done a BIG DOOZY of something wrong in my mind... and it has everything to do with Metrics, Money Grabs, Power Creep, and Time Gates.
I miss Vanilla PvP and the Feddie Balls... even while I don't miss the fact that Klingons weren't even a fraction of a faction. They were just a bunch of ships. But the who PvP was so much smoother then.. .even while we complained about end game PvP and how Klingons dominated PvP until end game... when Feds had the numbers and the quests to outfit themselves better.
I miss Exploration Clusters... sure the Genesis was what 7 maps and a bunch of different colors and 15 missions... but it was Exploration... instead of building upon what they made and fixing it to be less buggy, Cryptic took out a center piece of Star Trek... Exploration... and literally threw it into the trash bin.
I miss the fact that you could level the way you wanted to play... play the missions you wanted to play and explore or pvp to skip to the next mission you wanted to play. A lot of missions sucked then... just as many missions suck now. But then you could work around and skip those really horrible missions. Now... you're railroaded into playing them by a Cryptic that just wants to pad their Metrics.
Sure it was a buggy mess... full of it's own issues... I'm not going to put on rose colored glasses and say it was perfect and great and Cryptic has done no right... Cryptic has done a lot of things right...
But to me... they took away the essence of Star Trek in STO in order to make a better game.
The game may be better... but it's lacking a SOUL now that it once had.
I seriously need to get patching. I loved the pvp back then. It's was fun and varied not like today's mess where it's all or nothing. Says things at I'm probably more excited to play the old style pvp and have a TRIBBLE ton of fun that the new Galaxy coming out tomorrow.
Cryptic if you learn nothing else from this awesome April fools treat is that players want that fun pvp back. I would love to see a pvp mode which was independent from normal pve. Let's have set roles and set ships and abilities to promote good pvp and fun in an equal environment.think like team fortress and you probsbly won't be far off.
Can't wait to take a nebula in with detection grid and the old Grav well of awesomeness!

The fact that some people have download quotas is the only reason I suspect they're being honest about it actually being on Redshirt right now. 10GB of download could easily be half of somebodies monthly allowance, which wouldn't be very funny if it turned out to just be the latest holodeck build.

Why rebirth all the time that people has spent time and money and now you are all you are forcing us to throw it all away unless there is a way to transfer your character to redshirt I don't know what i'm going to do unless perfect world is all stupid and wants to loose a lot of business then go right ahead steam has a lot of games and I think that will satisfy me while your business gets shut down.
But I don't know if I will make a new character if I even restart and that's if I restart and that's asking A LOT of me expecally when I spent about 3 years on STO now and grinding dillithum and stuff to get my reps and all the stuff from my reps to T5 and still working on the reps i'm at T4 8472 and T2 on delta.
But here is some advice for your business if you want to keep it do a character automatically for everyone playing on STO and I mean EVERYONE I would be pissed if I came back from vacation and found my account gone! and 2 please and I ask please do a lot of testing we do not need all the glitches going on whenever you guys do to the transfer I would like to log on with my main character and find that nothing has even happened.

I know a lot of people I've been talking with, are actually more excited about doing Redshirt, than they are about Delta Recruit.
With patch speeds this slow we'll be lucky to get on by next April 1st.

the problem might be the launcher isn't recognizing the old client. Don't know if that'll work, but give it a try.
I honestly want to see the PROOF that the specific part in that announcement says that holodeck is getting shut down a joke.
