Most of the ships you've already bought will get a T6 version save for a certain ICONIC ship that won't be named.
At some point in time there will be Fleet T6's
At some point in time there will be T7 ships.

One question: Will there be a means to get our existing T5-Us to T6 to at least match the new ones, if not, upgrade to it? Or, as the blog states, will our existing ships be replaced with the new one? For example, when we claim the ship from the C-store will it still be the old one anyways?

I believe (though don't quote me) that it's specifically been stated that T5U's wont ever get a token (or other means) to upgrade to T6. If you want T6, then you pay extra for T6, otherwise you stick with your T5U's.
I have no idea what that even means, but it sounds dirty.

The only thing you get free are updated skins.
If you want the Andromeda skin and ship and console and Starship Mastery Trait, you buy the T6 Andromeda.
