The time has come to take the fight to the Iconians. Their servants, the Heralds, have constructed a temple to their Iconian masters. We need your help if we have any hope at this operation. Alliance Command has developed a daring plan that requires your skill and resourcefulness.

You can find your briefing here, Captain.

there are no special ships. it's just something they made up for the story.

also, doesn't mention if this is ground or space combat?

So, does this mean the new "Joint Task Force Iconian Counter-Strikeforce of Awesomeness" reputation is launching in season 10?

Going to have to wait and see if it has ridiculous autofail conditions making it impossible to pug like most queues before I render judgement. And also whether my ancient computer can actually handle it, but that's another thing entirely and nothing to do with Cryptic really. Still, yay, more things to kill I guess.

I think it's implied that this will be space PvE.

Looks interesting. I'm looking forward to the Iconian war. And I would like to see new PvE that is less DPS based and more strategy based. Can you give me a reason for equipping my cloaking device? Can I get rewards (Skill/specialization points?) For evading ships instead of destroying them? With the high leveling curve now combined with the specialization system, I think EXP would make a great optional objective award.

I want non-combat optional objectives that advance the mission and your character and promote more teamwork less insane DPS

I must agree on the failure conditions and current optional system...and the timers.

Still as far as the story goes, I'm quite excited about this.

Oh I know how this ends.. puny galactic races attack Iconians.. Iconians retaliate and blow up all the home worlds for the species that don't have them currently.. Cryptic "conveniently" no longer needs to implement requested home worlds. :P

the Heralds, have constructed a temple... A temple that can... open a gateway to the center of a sun...

We have developed special ships capable of holding open an Iconian gateway... Once inside, we hope you

Wait wait wait. YOU want me to fly into a sun to get into the temple?

As predicted. Don't like the idea of ANOTHER servitor species, but hey, if I can shoot some Iconians, it'll be great.

I hope that the elite version is absurdly hard, like Hive Elite or Korfez. We need more real challenges.

No, from the sounds of it.

They can open a Portal to the center of a star. Using the portal to vent the Nuclear heat, & Pressure from the core of that star, Funneling it, directing it.

Like a giant nuclear heat ray.

    So it's basically a weapon.

From the sounds of it, we escort a ship loaded up with Iconian Gateway tech to one of these aperture heat ray event horizons. it keeps the portal open, we go through. And attack the facility housing the weapon system.
Finally decided to make a sig.
I see allot of them with a character, and ship.
though I'm not sure which ship to put on there...
I'll think about it. This will do for now.

An active sphere - I'm hoping some sort of 'endless stream of ships attacking' dynamic from what we've seen of the Solanae industrial capacities. This would require that we have to hold off and think strategically.
Fate - protects fools, small children, and ships named Enterprise Will Riker

    Tehjonel,

After your reply to the person above you, a person would think that you would then follow the next rational thought:

If the Alliance is using "special ships" you could, in fact, should, say special SPACE ships...since all of our ships in this game exist in SPAAAAAAAACCCCEEEEEE to infinity and beyond!

I'll take a future Herald Battleship, Herald Cruiser, and Herald Dreadnought for my Lobi, Lockbox, and Promotional Ship spending please.

Provided they exist and are ever made.

Though I'd just be as happy if they're exclusive along with other Herald ships for an Iconian "micro-faction" (Just pick a side at the start and have its own dialogue and reasons for aiding from the shadows).

Back on topic, given that this is a queue though, I do wonder if we'll be getting a new Rep. Iconian or Herald Marks? And what new weapon flavor of the Reputation will this reward? Iconian Antiproton? A new successor to the Neutronic? Special cannons and beams with no damage falloff?

And equipment as well. A ship shield with the Iconian/Herald style mist and armor effects? Armor that lets us dress in the star-lit gilded attire of the Iconian from Surface Tension? Herald Tractor Beam with R-TBR style ship dragging?

Tentatively excited, but keeping expectations low. After the relatively lackluster ground and ship equipment set of the Delta Rep (only the weapon set was useful), I'm hoping for something better.

I don't think it's a Dyson Sphere. Just a big Sphere city ship weapon facility battlezone.

Even if it's a servitor race, it's still technically part of the Iconian faction, so think of them as Iconian soldiers.

Either the Iconians don't have numbers, or soldiers amongst their race.

    Or

There's something else keeping them at bay, forcing them to rely on Servators. Like say another ancient powerful race hidden in the shadows that may retaliate if the Iconians show themselves...

Or the Iconian's are not interesting in dirtying their hands with the grunt work.

Which makes them all the more evil mastermind really.

    Nothing wrong with Servitor races.

Of course I knew it was going to be another Sphere. I bet a ton of players did. How you could not see this coming, I don't know.

All the trouble that was caused in the bowels of New Romulus, by opening that gate that led to a sphere, and the Iconian itself showing up. Well, it all points to reason that there was going to be another sphere that would give us the information we had been looking for, and that is, Who built the spheres?

Now we know it was the race called the Heralds.

This particular Sphere has somehow gained the possession of the Empire's greatest weapon, get ready...:

    The Death Star Weapon!!

Just remember you heard this here, from ME, first.
