Have we been lied to? No.

Have we been lead to believe what we hoped for by inaccurate description and false pretences? Yes.

Will anybody of them have a bad conscience about it and never do such a thing again? No.

Are we disappointed because of it? Yes.

Will we be able to get a refund? No.

Do we know better next time? Yes.

Just open your eyes and take a look behind everything that has been done to this game the past 6 months.

If for every disappointed JHAS pilot who leaves game because of this business practise another one pays a fortune again to become a JHSS pilot this promotion will be considered a huge success.

Does anybody really has the slightest doubt about that?

In amongst all this discussion, I do wonder how many people are actually PVPers... the one bit of the game where it actually matters whether you've got the absolute best ship / set.

I understand the frustration of the JHASers because the wording of its last promo did imply full T6 status - nearly bought one myself for that reason but thankfully spent on a Korath instead.

However, from Cryptic's perspective, I can see why this is a line in the sand. They've chosen to make T6 wholly separate from T5 and market the occasional "improved" version of a classic ship. If they were to add T6 upgrades for the JHAS, then you can bet that the debate would move on to the Voth Bulwark. Then the lockbox ships...

So here’s my issue with this. The JHAS used to be the be all and end all of End game equipment and a pretty damn good ship to fly about in and kill stuff. But like everything else in life, things move on. Is Cryptic taking advantage of this and trying to make money out of it’s customers?

OF COURSE THEY ARE! They’re a damned company! It’s their godsdamned job and right to take us for every penny they can get!

Now, before you ask, I don’t work for STO, Cryptic, PWE or any affiliates, but I fully agree with them making better, high-end gear and releasing newer, updated versions of ships.

I recently bought the KDF command ship bundle. Now this was by no means cheap (€55). Does this mean that I expect these ships to reign supreme for a year or two?! No! Of course not! Cryptic and PWE are going to continue to make new, interesting and exciting content, quality of life changes, raises for their staff and introduce new systems into the game. How? By people buying new ships, costumes, playable races, etc!

So, in short. Your JHAS is not a Tier 6?! Aw, my heart bleeds for you, but neither are any of my Vet ships! Guess what, I moved on and so will you!

Okay, imruined. I'm afraid you're wrong on pretty much everything you've said.

Cryptic stated the ship will be upgradeable to T6 starship capabilities. This really looks like it is not going to happen. There is also no T5U ship which has T6 capabilities that I'm aware of.

As I and others have said, the old bug ship is not getting the full suite of T6 capabilities. Namely the trait and boff seating and use of intel/command abilities. The blog was therefore misleading. If they'd qualified the statement to say some T6 capabilities
But they can just point to BOPs and tell "ships of the same tier having less BOFF slots than others has always existed in the game". They can point to Refits that are considered the same tier as their base ship but have another console slot.

And for all we know, by the time the blog was written, the dev team did not even intend to coin Tier 5U as Tier 5U, but just Tier 6. If a product name changes, that's also not really a basis for a law suit, is it? The term "Tier 5u" could just be to distinguish lower tier ships upgraded to Tier 6, avoiding the name "Tier 6 Upgrade" because that could be mistaken as being better than Tier 6.

Utimately however... I have some strong doubts that any judge would be willing to analyze this in the necessary detail, and it would likely just be dismissed. Of course, a lawyer would probably already not be willing to take over the case.

I do excuse you, but I also ask you, isn't it better to be an optimist, to choose to see the best rather than the worst in things?

Better for you, as a person, I mean.

I'm thrilled, I LOVE the promos, they create so many opportunities and people get so excited, it's just such a huge stimulus to everything.

I love your Posts dude, go on with it! I loled super hard (in a positive way)!! You are so right with your words wise Ferengi!!!

    For whom?

Okay, a minority of extremely lucky players will win the new OP uberbug. The majority of players are simply going to wind up with a stack of crafting items they don't want, buyers remorse*, some lobi and significantly less money.

    * I suspect that we'll also get some 'I purchased 100 crafting packs and didn't get the ship' posts here too.

How do you know this ship is OP? Have you tested it on Tribble when no one was looking? Do you have access to video of the ship from the Devs testing it in QA? Im confused as to where you got your information on the ship being OP. If its because its a hybrid...Hate to burst your bubble but a Intel and Command Hybrid does not immediately indicate that itll be OP. Most of the abilities in both Intel and Command are duds. Atleast one of the worthwhile Intel abilities has been nerfed to the point of being a waste of space. The other two...Well this ship wont be able to slot SS3. As for Command. Theyre nice little abilities but theyre nothing spectacular or capable of pushing anything over that line that separates average abilities from OP abilities.

As for complaining about the lockboxes. Ill admit I hate the lockboxes myself but Im not going to shed a tear over someone deciding theyre going to give into their addiction and drop hundreds of dollars on a chance at a ship that might be a pile of garbage compared to its T5 cousin.

You make a couple of points there, but I'd be surprised if at that time Cryptic didn't have things clearly on the roadmap. It'd be a worry if things were being done ad-hoc like that. T6 and the resultant gubbins would have been in the pipeline for a bit. At least, you would have thought.

The statement should have been qualified, but it's definitely nothing to lawyer up over.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.

Just wow, ppl are so different in so many ways, fascinating!

Now I expect you to read my thoughts on this too, so here is my story:

I´m playing STO since December 2014, I just started coz a friend of mine is a veteran in this game and the fact that I just love Star Trek (even more in those dark days a good friend went away from us - RIP Leonard)!

Well, I simply felt in love with this game!

After I maxed my first toon to 60 and set up 2 more heading to it I felt like "I need some big canon Ship now" as my own reward for my hard work in the last 2 month (Ohh I played this game so much and I´ll go on).

I decided to get a carrier, I decided to run frigate pets on it, I saw there is a Jem Dread able to release a swarm of Bugships to the battlefield. The idea of my own personal dominon fleet was born!!!

There is the need to have the bug and the carrier on the same acc to run those pets, as I´m a beginner in this game with no gear, no dil, no EC there is simply no way to get access to this build I was dreaming about. So what to do? Grind hard for a fleet dread to start one hangar of Runabout fighters? NO

So I did the obvious: Investing real money in a hobby I recently started to get access to the part of the game I wanted. I traded some rounds, spend some more money but since 6 weeks I´m the owner of a Jem Dread and JHAS. I rarely played the JHAS, but what can I say, the carrier is just OMG, I love it, I don´t regret even one cent of this purchase! (Build my first romu elite pets from rep yesterday and tested them vs the advanced jem attack pets - the pets are so much better)

My friend who lead me to this game can´t get my point why i spend bigtime to get just access to the hangar pets. He argumented that the JHAS is outclassed already, that cryptic will release new and way better toons in the future. I was totally aware of this facts, I mean it´s company, it´s a growing MMO it will only survive with money as every business does!

I´m weak, resistance was futile I felt in love with the idea of having my own dominion fleet and the fact there are (so far) not much ships with 2 hangar bays, what I wanted to run anyways.

So what I´m telling you guys is I bought a bugship just to get more and more dust on its hull while I play its big brother most of the time. Imagine yourself on how expensive it is and what ways of traiding are available.

I went the easy way to get access to it, still I feel pretty poor because I recently started this game, anyways what I wanted and what I totally got with this purchase was one thing - FUN! (Ages ago when I was young this was the essence of a game).

Not many ppl would act like me and thats of course ok but for me it´s simply NO OPTION to grind for stupid omega particles while in a minigame nobody want´s to play and after 1k attemts and ages of trading those to EC I´m able to purchase ONE item from exchange? Thats hard work, thats not what I wan´t to PLAY!

So I prefer the option working in reallife and spend part of that money for "those stupid things I like" (all those things your mum would just roll her eyes).

So now the new Bug is coming, the price of the old bug is decresing... I should have wait some weeks, damn... anyways, do I feel screwed? NO, it´s just a bit dissapointing that I spend more than necessary and that the release of the new bug comes so quickly after I purchased the old one. (Patience helps they said... I didn´t belive)

Many of you guys are discussing the possibility of upgrading the old bug to the new one. I read the advertising from last august what was before I was in this game. But to be honest, how comes you are even thinking of the idea the bug could be upgraded to a completely OTHER ship? There is simply no way it will work like this, and even the wording from cryptic was bad, I don´t think it was ever a question that a JHAS will transform to a JHSS.

Lets just have fun! Try your luck with some R&D boxes, don´t overdo it, believe!

I´ll try my luck with some boxes. I did with ferengi and voth so far, around 100 boxes = 2 ships! I`llgo on with it, I´ll support this game, even if it stays the same as many things in our world - commercial.
There will be a day a doff will come out giving me an extra frigate or there will be a ship with 3-4 hangar bays, cryptic will find more ways to "release" my money. Anyways it´s not a must have, just decide for yourself what you want to buy or close your wallet for good but then, don´t complain about products beeing released just because you feel yourself forced to buy it. I spend more money in this game in just 3 month than in any other online game still I don´t even own 1% of all the stuff available in the game but I made my decision what I really need and now the fun is unlimited.

Peace out! Life long and Prosper!

Btw: will the new JHSS unlock the pet option for the carrier?

Yah, well... as you pointed I lack those experiences fortunately so far, expect some rubberbanding in the bussy primetime and a funny bugged omega farming there is nothing to complain about for me so far. And yes I´m super optimistic, this is why i feel sad if I follow posts like this coz you can really read hate in here. Still people playing?! I even read about people stop playing and proceed with complaining in the Forum...

I didn´t want to start to this game at all because I was aware that if i do, I´ll be in the middle of it with no option to stop it anymore, like a new love. This is what you are telling me, it´s the only content this big and modern, the only MMO in the ST universe. It´s not perfect its far away from dead in my eyes, I read about many changes recently happened pre to my start in the end of last year with Delta Rising. I can understand the anger of ppl playing this game since years without money and working hard to get an object like the JHAS fully equiped with good stuff and now they need to work even harder to upgrade all the gear the whole way to MK XIV epic...

If somebody wants to get a MK II Bug now on this way this might be very frustrating if you spend your hard worked ingame stuff for the gamble. JUST DONT EVER DO THIS! If you want to gamble do it with things you gamble usually with - Money! Use your grind to improve your toons, much more fun!

If you dream about a toon in online game, go to your job, earn some money, give it to the godly developers and get what you want. It´s not different to any other product you buy in reallife. Would apple give me a way to grind for an Iphone in a stupid way taking ages to fullfill the requirements I wouldnt go for it. Tier 7 and Mk XV coming one day too for sure.

    1 hour to go!

Enjoy your JHDC, it's fun, I have my hull at 117K with 65% resists, it's very tanky but still dishes out great damage. The pets are good but not up to Romulan drone or Aquatics level, still I have done an entire Tau Dewa run without firing a shot from the mother ship, took a while but not as long as you'd think.

The drone is only for Scim right? Someday Ill test this! I feel the bug-pets are strong due to beam overload as well as the Kamikaze dead ramming move. I did some runs without firing a shot, they need some time but they perform well. The Xindi are nice you are telling me? Gonna look into this, thanks!

So has there been any confirmation that owning one does unlock JHAS pets?

Or is it really worthless compared to at least owning the JHAS just for that?

Because if the latter the case, the JHSS should just have been another Lockbox ship, as the JHAS was valued for being able to allow purchase of JHAS frigate pets, in addition to then being the best escort around for its time.

There have been some questions yesterday about unlocking the frigate pets for the Jem Hadar Carrier. I apologize for the delay in our response, it was a rather busy day yesterday. Yes, the new Jem Hadar Strike Ship will give players access to the Jem Hadar Attack Ship frigates for use on their Jem Hadar Carrier.

The blogs should be updated today to reflect this information.

Another huge question that no one at Cryptic seems to care to answer is about the free upgrade to T6 for the current owners of the Jem'Hadar Atack Ship that you promised on Delta Rising's launch.

    Care to comment on that??????

So it's confirmed above. However unless these pets have something OP about them I can't ever advise anyone to get the JHSS just for the pets if they already have the JHAS, I suspect we will know more if they actually release stats for them.

It's the same attack ship as before. Just now either ship unlocks it.

I read it all, nice story, pleased you are enjoying the JHDC, I have one myself with bug pets and it's a fun ship to fly.

However I still smell the sweet scent of excitement and optimism in your post, a new player who's been around a couple of months. Please understand that we have been shat on for years, some of us more than 5 years, we've seen lies, exaggeration, extremely poorly coded software, game breaking bugs, hacks, exploits, nerfs, we've been called cheaters and exploiters, we've been called morons by the man who used to be EP until not long ago, we've seen the complete destruction of PvP despite being promised the opposite, we've seen monumental grinds added whilst suffering equally monumental XP nerfs disguised under the veil of increased rewards and so on....

The ONLY reason many of us are still here is because this is the ONLY Star Trek content available anywhere and the only Star Trek MMO. After all the above and more only loyal fans would suffer and stick with this company so please don't suggest how we should appreciate the magnanimous gestures of Cryptic and Co after being here only 5 minutes.

The current debacle isn't particularly the fact that a T6 JHAS is being released with a new name and new skin, it's because we were told on the last promo in August 2014 that the existing ships and any won during that promo would have T6 capabilities, which it plainly doesn't have, despite some white knights desperate to convince you otherwise, and even they have to admit the wording was poor.

First off...before you say anything I'm not a white knight.

I've asked this before as so far to my knowledge no one has answered...can you give me a clear and honest definition by what Cryptic meant by T6 capabilities? Especially when the term T5-U hadn't likely hadn't been released yet?

People jumped the gun and didn't read between the lines...if they meant T6...they would of said T6 notT6 capabilities. The ship got a boosted hull, shield mod, and 11th console which could easily enough be defined as T6 capabilities since there is no real definition of *T6 capabilities*.

Now while the wording is kinda shadey, the people who jumped the gun and saw T6 and their eyes lit up and assumed are also partly to blame.

People need to use some logic...first off like I said T6 capabilities doesn't =T6...then there is the fact this is Cryptic...they're about making money...what logically makes people think they would give out a T6 ship for free at LAUNCH of T6? I mean come on people did you see T6 and you instantly forget who you're dealing with? There are people who got the ship free back when it was originally launched...do you really think they're going to give someone a free T6 who obtained the ship a long time ago completely free? I mean seriously like the saying goes "Common sense, so rare it's a super power!"

Thank you for continuing to communicate with us, Mr. Ricossa. That is not going unnoticed.

However, I hope you won't take more unnecessary arrows in the back for this release. Since you guys have pointed out on nervous occasions that decisions in the game are made months in advance, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. This was likely your predecessor's call.

I get why you guys are doing this, but make no mistake... this is a crummy decision, especially given the JHAS promo just prior to DR's launch. At best, this is wildly unnecessary, and poorly planned.

Please do better, by the community that pays your bills.

I've grown used to the concept that STO is an ever-progressive game and that the old will get left behind for the new. I understand why people might be upset that their 500 million EC JHAS is no longer the sexiest thing in space. Besides, as others have pointed out, the only difference between now and then is that the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship can now be, what, 6.66% better? If you have the money for it, yeah, every little bit helps, but I won't have any less respect for the person flying a T5-U JHAS in a Borg STF now.

What I can POSITIVELY, ABSOLUTELY NOT forgive is the fact that Cryptic had a golden opportunity to release a T6 Jem'Hadar Command Battlecruiser with all the little frills - a completely new, ripe ship that I have been pining for since the other 3 made their debuts, and a few months ago, with T6 on the way? Yes. The Jem'Hadar still have a ship or two that can be released at the new level cap. A ship that, hell, I might even gamble for, it'd be so good.

Instead, the recycle the "best ship in the game" at a T6 level, and it doesn't even look that much better than the T5-U version.

Well, TRIBBLE that. I hope nobody buys into this. I hope the sales between today and yesterday for R&D packs experience no change.

You guys used to be imaginative. What the hell happened?

It became T5-U, unfortunately. At this poimt, though, flying Yesterday's Ent.. err, Bug ship, seems the point is moot: owners of it will no longer have their Nr. 1 prestige 'monocle'. Which is why prices for it have dropped considerably as a result. Even making it T6 now would do little to offset that trend.

They didn't jump the gun. How else can you interpret t6 capabilities other than the capabilities a t6 ship has? If it had been t5u capabilities, that's what they would have written. Besides, t6 abilities means an a hybrid intel/regular boff seat. They would have known that then in Fall of 2014 and it's disingenuous to go back on the promise and say it was a simple mistake. Some people pay hundreds for these ships and yet people still give Cryptic the benefit of the doubt.
