Connection issues / Rubberbanding

Hello PWE / Cryptic,

i've been patient up until now, as a network engineer myself i have plenty of options to connect to STO and keep playing, even when Europe has major problems etc.

Since November last Year we have problems with lagging, rubberbanding and disconnects over in Europe. I am a customer of Deutsche Telekom and we get routet into Cogento's network in Frankfurt Germany. After 5pm localtime i regularly have Ping losses to Cogento's Boston Node that brings the disconnects since November '14.

Since the Anniversary Patch and the Omega things the lags and rubberbanding have gotten to a point where I cannot play STO anymore. The ESD Problems are less, but the whole game still has problems.

I was just in an ISA where Weapons did not fire, UI didnt accept commands, my ship rubberbanded all over the map. This just only is the cherry on top of 3 disconnects and 2 crashes to desktop today.

The latest problems dont even come from Cogento, the network is fine at the moment ~100ms to your patchserver.

I can assure you that my ISP is not the problem.

Please do something to stabilize your servers and connection. In the actual state this is no fun to play.

Greetings from Germany.

 same exact problem here from italy, with the isp "telecom italia"! Since the anniversary patch i cant properly play STO after 4.30/5pm german time, until 11/12pm . I've a lot of lag spikes (2k to 9k ms ping on /netgraph 1 ingame) every 2/3 seconds, especially in combat (like in infected or in arena pvp), so everything is like unplayable in that time frame... :(

My issue is that the Patching thing just sits there, it does nothing.
It works for Neverwinter, but Not STO
From what I have read elsewhere, Cryptic have changed something in the Launcher software that is messing up with some systems, something to do with the html coding.
I just wish they TESTED PROPERLY before giving us grief in many ways for many people.

I have had nothing but trouble after this last update, not a peep out of my system till then. I live in SC USA so the problem after reading the forums is theirs. Hope the fix comes soon I was considering a lifetime membership............ seems foolish now.

i had rubberbanding since november too. I ws still back with vodafone then. Since last thursday we are with Deutsche Telekom (LTE wireless Internet) and from 5pm to about 11-12 pm the game is unplayable.

From the 5 minutes of The Cure normal (space) i had 4 minutes of rubberbanding.

Even in normal sector space i have massive Rubberbanding and lag and also quite a lot client crashes, disconnects and login timeout.

I would like to offer pingtest results but because this is wireless internet i was told that they are unreliable and also my modem/router is blocking pingtests and i don´t want to mess with the firewall setting because i am no expert in that matter. Especially not with that type of router.

I used some other websites and got results bedween 110-14O ms so i think thats good enough
    Surfing speed is between 35-40.000kbit/sec

Exactly the Same here, iam also from Germany and since this CURSED 5th Anniversary Started EVERY day from around 8pm to 12pm (local Time) the Game is ABSOLUTELY UNPLAYABLE, Commands are not Accepted, Red Numbers all the Time, Rubberbanding like Crazy NO MATTER WHERE I AM not to Mention all the Disconnects, before this Anniversary here and there some Connection Issues but with the Anniversary Patch the Game is a MESS now.

So PLEASE find a Solution for this since this is UNACCEPTABLE :mad::mad:

I live Orlando, FL, USA and I have the same rubberbanding problem. In space, on the ground, it doesn't matter where. I started playing this game when it first went live, I have been away for a while and now trying it again. I see after all these years it still hasn't been fixed.

As a network engineer you would then know that trace routes are not the whole story. When you're having these issues, do what is suggested in http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1192081 and paste the results. Please note that there was a discussion thread on the STO-DE forums about the network issues and the fact it's actually a backbone issue, not with the cryptic servers.

    The voyage continues.

It's a good time to play instead of watching TV... Not possible.
The same procedure as usual: disconnections lag and massive rubberbanding.

    Well askray,

thanks for your reply. No tracert's never tell a story except what nodes may have a problem. That is why I opened a Case with PWE 150210-001710 if you want to refer to it.

I've sent them the most important proof of all

With the rubber banding issues I am having, the game, for me is unplayable.

I get the same issue on 3 different connections, using 3 different service providers and on multiple computers.

    In England btw.

    This is absolutely unacceptable!
Since weeks it is simply not possible for me to play this **** except for 2 or 3 hours on NOON (EU) at all.
Who the hell has time on noon?

yes i know it's not the cryptic server itself, but cryptic IS responsible to resolve that well known problem with cogentco

So i believe there is some evidence of problems. Will someone @PWE/Cryptic answer on this thread?
If not, you may close the tech section of the board alltogether.

Since the Tracerts show reasonable latency most of the time the rubberbanding and disconnects must come from overprovisioned server hardware. Cogentco's Issues only seem to be the cherry on top.
I've seen too many mass disconnects lately, every now and then hundreds of ppl get kicked the same time. This all escalated with the anniversary patch.

Do something, its not like I hate the Game, or want you to fail or anything, I just want to enjoy the game. That is not possible at the moment.

Any official answer or statement would be very appreciated.

Network is OK today, ~106ms to your Patchserver without package loss. Took me 10 min and 3 login2_timeouts to get into the game... Now im looking at SERVER NOT RESPONDING (300.5s)

awesome... still no comment from PWE... greatest customer service... ever!

    Hello,

I had contact with the support - I'm still astonished.

They say, it's probably my (German) provider which causes all problems. :)

BUT: The support sent me a link where I can assemble some information which I can forward to PWE. (It's PingPlotter.)

So I started to send my protocols constantly.

    (obviously only in German): http://www.arcgames.com/de/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9052573

    Greetings.

A bit of an odd problem on my end. Runs fine on my pc, totally unplayable on my girlfriend's pc. Doesn't really make much sense either, similar machines, same network. The power did blink late this past friday night and that seems to be the start of it, but since then we have reinstalled STO and still the same problem. Some of the worst lag and rubberbanding I have ever seen. She can run from the transporter room to the exchange on ESD and get pulled back to the transporter.

Ran a tracert on the patch server, highest number I saw was 117ms.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fixed, it would be much appreciated.

    Lag issue :

Today 4 hour (GMT +1), in infected space :

The /netgraph, in again reaches summits! (The values are situated between 500 and 1000)

And it's not the END ! In ESD, for example (or ANY (ANY !) other locations), we have the same ping. (But only between 500 and 750).

It's not acceptable for MMO to have more 180 ping, in any location. I'm located in France.

If you say : It's only you !

No > Other people have the same problem in my fleet. And not only in my fleet...

Previously I gave you 6 in 8 months to solve it. This time has been reduced to only 4 months to make these corrections!

If not solve, ok you don't have my money and my support for only make money and don't satisfy your client.

Perhaps one of you has different proxy settings?

I'm having kinda similar problems; in the evening local time(GMT+1; Germany)the game starts to connect incredible slowly in the launcher and usually times out in the character selection menu. Even when I get in during such times, the game is basically unplayable; it really lags hard, it times out often and the only thing I can do at all is Doffs, and even these are making problems.

I'm random... and yes I've seen massive disconnects of players from Europe, all at the exact same time.

I'm eastern Canada and it's completely random for me.
