Perhaps one of you has different proxy settings?

    Same.

At this point, her computer has been wiped. Windows 7 has been reinstalled, drivers updated, ARC and STO installed.

I feel I need to make it clear the only things installed on the computer at the moment are Windows 7, ARC and STO.

Lag and rubber banding are still causing the game to be unplayable.

Proxy on both computers was set to none. Setting her's to US made the problem worse.

Here's the tracert from her pc-

There is something going on with Comcast and Verizon. It's affecting other MMO games I play. In the other MMO I play people have successfully used the WTFast program to fix the strange lag.

I'm in NYC and have a fiber optic connection. No other game rubber bands like STO.

I'm convinced the problem is STO not the connection.

Now the slower the connection the more prominent your lag problems will be but that's stI'll more bc of Cryptic servers and coding than just the connection.

    I'm in agreement here.

Whatever is up, I'm seeing no similar behaviour with any other software and _everytime_ I have tried to play STO since the 5th anniversary, it's been a rubber banding mess of varying degrees of intensity.

What's telling to me is it doesn't matter if i'm in well populated areas or in an isolated space like Dust to Dust, the behaviour is the same.

im on a fiber connection in Florida

Currently ping around 61 ms to the games servers at any given time.... and STILL Rubberband like hell in most stfs mostly in the 4pm-12pm time frame east coast time.

People have been told "its your isp" and basically shrugged off... Enough is enough, I work for a teir 1 ISP there is no problem on my end... its stemming from the boston nodes we all access to get to the game server... Cryptic needs to address the issue as its affecting a large portion of the player base not just for a handful of people....

I'm not an IT Network guru, but I'm getting tired of the powers that be saying it's at my end.

This is a problem affecting too many people to be at our end!!! It can't be all of our ISP's at all corners of the globe!

If they wanted more profits, they would fix the problem but being nice isn't cutting it anymore. WE WANT THE GAME TO BE PLAYABLE AGAIN.

I wonder if PWE/Cryptic understands that these technical issues not only hurt their current customer base, but also their ability to acquire new customers. Word-of-mouth and customer reviews (even from just a few people) can be powerful determinants in a potential customer's decision whether or not to create an account. I personally would be very hesitant to spend money on a game with a technical glitch track record as bad as STO's is. It's too bad too, because I really liked the recent changes to BOFF skill training and the sector space revamp...I'm trying to find reasons to like this game, but you people are making it near impossible when I can't even play CE Elite without rubberbanding across the map...and a lot of other people are having far worse technical problems than I.

This is still unplayable. Just started my runs for Crystalline event, and.... my god, no really, my god, the rubberbanding into the map was HUGE, with peaks of 3800ms (checked with /netgraph 1 ingame command) and an average of 1200ms.
That's is too much for me, it's since DR launch im lagging like this, i've had enough. I tried everything, vpns, proxys, dns but nothing to do, even with different connections (like my hsdpa mobile connection via tethering = same lagging story).
    Meh :(

If you're just talking about today around the time you posted... you're right at the beginning of a scheduled maintenance downtime, so it's not surprising at all, nor a reflection of the state of the game overall.

Nope the game seems to have latency issues. It takes a long time for my character to even load and once I am in game I constantly disconnect until I'm kicked from the server.

For the very first time in months, I was just now able to run a CC while experiencing moments (although very brief) of no lag. With all this lag I tend to die very frequently in CC (one of my toons died like six or seven times today in a single CC run), and it seemed like every time I died, as soon as I respawned, I would have about five or so seconds of no lag/rubberbanding (this did not happen when I died in CC yesterday). Though of course after the five seconds had passed, the horrible lag resumed as normal...

This occurred during my CC run at around 1PM PST. I'm hoping that this information might help you guys troubleshoot the issue. Could we get a dev reply to this thread at least saying that the issue is being looked into? I'm sure that I, and everyone else who has written in this thread, would like some sort of reassurance that we aren't being completely ignored. This is a real, serious issue, and as of the time this post is being written, two of the top three threads in this forum (excluding stickies) are about this exact lag/rubberband/disconnect/stability issue that's been plaguing many of us for months.

I use expat shield in conjunction with a couple of special command codes in my registry which speed up my ping.
You may call it a Valdore + 2 eptW combo : maybe risky for my pc but rewarding in terms of ping performance.
So I am not affected by the infamous Boston Cogentco server.
Still, I experience rubberbanding and lag in every Borg STF I've played : Infected, Cure and Khitomer.
As of these days, sometimes also the Crystalline Catastrophe.
However, most of the Crystalline go fine while the Borg space stfs lag ALMOST EVERY TIME.
My feeling is that there's something wrong with them.
I should also point out that there's still some lag in the Ground UI abilities, although the Ground STFs are smooth.

Expat shield is just an ad-supported UK-based proxy, which will probably hit cogentco's gear once you get across the Atlantic to the US.

I ve posted many times about this problem and last help from a GM was helping (i use EU1 Server) but for now (its 22.00 German time ) and for 1 hour im trying to log in but with no chance to become open even the login window.
YES, PWE, look to repair your servers or whatever is broken!

    Hello PWE / Cryptic,

i've been patient up until now, as a network engineer myself i have plenty of options to connect to STO and keep playing, even when Europe has major problems etc.

Since November last Year we have problems with lagging, rubberbanding and disconnects over in Europe. I am a customer of Deutsche Telekom and we get routet into Cogento's network in Frankfurt Germany. After 5pm localtime i regularly have Ping losses to Cogento's Boston Node that brings the disconnects since November '14.

Since the Anniversary Patch and the Omega things the lags and rubberbanding have gotten to a point where I cannot play STO anymore. The ESD Problems are less, but the whole game still has problems.

I was just in an ISA where Weapons did not fire, UI didnt accept commands, my ship rubberbanded all over the map. This just only is the cherry on top of 3 disconnects and 2 crashes to desktop today.

The latest problems dont even come from Cogento, the network is fine at the moment ~100ms to your patchserver.

I can assure you that my ISP is not the problem.

Please do something to stabilize your servers and connection. In the actual state this is no fun to play.

As a network engineer you would then know that trace routes are not the whole story. [...] Please note that there was a discussion thread on the STO-DE forums about the network issues and the fact it's actually a backbone issue, not with the cryptic servers.

Indeed they are not. While i cannot connect to the patcher (or can connect, then be disconnected the moment i push any button in the game, if it makes it that far) for about 2 hours, pingplotter swears its only 3% packet loss with about a 200ms average (patchserver.crypticstudios.com)

    So .... why.... the ... lag ?

I started using a VPN Service with an exit node in the US (Private Internet Access for example) - this usually solves the lag issues

I would like an official response on this issue. Post it to FB, twitter... everywhere. You can't tell me that 100+ people all getting rubberbanding issues and disconnects is everyone's fault but yours. There are people on multiple builds on other sides of the damn planet using different ISPs. Take some damned ownership if it is your ISP or your game causing the issues and instead of drumming up all of this new content, fix the game you already have. My 5 years of gameplay are coming to an abrupt end due to this and PWE will never get another dime from me if this game is not fixed.

For the past 2-3 hours I've been getting repeated disconnects every few minutes - which makes trying to do CC a real pain - with attempts to reconnect often failing.

I've been unable to successfully run nettest, instead always getting the following result:

    contacting nettest server..timed out
    hit return to exit
