I'm both excited yet disappointed at the same time. Perhaps they cancel each other out, I dunno.
What disappoints me is it seems like their aesthetic lack any sort of the klingon race-alliance trinity look to them, by that I mean Nausicaan/Gorn/Orion. The tactical ship doesn't look nausicaan inspired, the science doesn't look gorn inspired, and the engineering doesn't look orion inspired, then again they are supposedly all battlecruisers (lets hope not, we have enough of those already here in the KDF) and not actual support vessels or destroyers or flight deck cruisers.
what new ship are you speaking of? did i miss a posting someplace in one of the random places the devs post info? or was it something that got buried in these forums?
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.
OP, have you actually seen the ships or are we talking the silhouettes here that I have seen as well? Because you sound like you've seen more and I'd like to take a peek as well if so. But if we're talking about the silhouettes, I think it's too early to judge just based on those.
I'm sure they'll be Klingon in design, since Geko made it pretty clear about a year ago that the upcomming KDF designs will be of Klingon origin for some reason. I guess they finally figured they do really good Klingon designs. *shrugs*
At least there's suposed to be a Fleet Orion Dacoit as well...

There were some leaks posted somewhere, I've seen them myself but can't remember where. Basically, each faction gets a bundle of 3 Command ships + the KDF suposedly gets a Fleet Dacoit Flight-Deck Cruiser as well.

is it funny i'm actually the most excited about the fleet dacoit retrofit?
also, there is actual pictures of the ships themselves and not just the picture of them on their opening box or their silhouettes, like actual full blown pictures of them now. I won't give link but everybody should know by now where the leaked stuff comes from.
1 picture shows all 3 ships form the underside, though only the science and the engineering are shown right now from the top down, science ship looks like it had some inspiration from the orion corsair and the egineering looks like a the alternate skin of the vo'quv but if it was a bit stubby in size
the intent is to make a cosmetic attempt-like the Bort was-to justify another 3 year content drought.
IOW they're intended to fail.
Basically it works like this: Geko assures that the new ships are in some way gimped, either being part of a saturated market segment (Battlecruisers, for instance), with issues of low performance (like the Bortasque had on release).
When it doesn't sell, the lack of sales is used to justify no further development.
Optimism suits you, sir. Personally I will reserve judgement until we see the stats on the new ships. The two intel-slot ships are both decent and as command cruisers these bring new capabilities to the table; the Qib and Mat'ha certainly didn't feel like a knife in the back. I agree that a T6 BoP is massively overdue, but a BoP would not be a logical platform for command abilities.
Anyway, the cold, hard truth is that with only 18% of Alts being KDF, and I'd wager ona large chunk of those being fed-alt farmers who don't need anything more than a basic T5... they don't need to fabricate numbers.

The leaks have pics now.
They're fugly, IMO. All 3 of them. Little swing, big miss.
Just saw them somewhere I wont state. One looks like 2 bricks smashed together with a 'church window' as a deflector, one appears to be a bortasque with 4 warp pylons, and the last one is smashed up in the front.
Not looking too good, but yay more KDF ships!
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.

Man, those are some ugly TRIBBLE ships!!! In fact they're so ugly, it makes me start "Yo mama" jokes.....like "Yo command batlecruiser is so ugly....."
The only one which could barely pass is the science one......barely, if that at all.....
I'm shocked actually. This has to be the first time in STO hisory where Cryptic has actually made the Federation ships look better and more apropriate than Klingon and Romulan ones. Given their history in ship designs, it's almost unbeliveable. I have a sneaky feeling Thomas Marrone is bringing some new fresh perspectives to Cryptic in that regard.
The Klingon ones look like junk at first glance (sorry artists, just speaking my mind. I praised you to high heavens for other ships like the Mat'Ha, Bortasqu', Mogh...now it's time for criticism, and this is just bad IMHO) and Romulan ones.....LOL....I'm not even going into that, just LOL....
So yeah, at the risk of getting stabed by a d'k tahg - I actually like the Federation Command ships. If only there is an option to cut off that weird looking tail/airfield or whatever it is on the backside, they'd look pretty damn good and very apropriate for Starfleet.
Wow if those are what the KDF command ships are actually gonna look like.... it's so bad I dunno what to say. No idea what the stats/layout will be but if the past is any indicator they'll be poor at best and more than likely gimped in some fashion so I just don't see that being a selling point. They keep setting themselves up for a self-fulfilling prophecy of poor sales and lack of interest.
Ever since launch Cryptic just doesn't seem to understand what Klingon ships should look like. A few times they came close with a few bits and pieces of models here and there but as a whole it's always been a swing and a miss.
I really feel bad for the designers putting time and effort into something only to have your work rejected, it can't feel good. Since I'm part of the minority that is only interested in the KDF the other factional ships have no relevance for me. Cryptic might be really great at FED ships from the way those guys usually react over in their forums and I personally think they have put out one or two interesting Rom ships but... they just don't seem to have a feel for the KDF at all IMO.
I find it kinda odd the KDF Com ships aren't in the new T6 material like the SF and RRF ships...I do hope they're half finished WIP models/placeholders to get the files ready and will be patched over later.
On the positive side: the KDF Eng variant has awefully prominent shuttle/hangar bays to not be a carrier of some sort; and those projections from the sci variant's aft hull look like catapult extensions to me...
Just run a search; I'm not exactly in the know or anything, but that's how I found the images...
As to the the aesthetics, my own opinions are that:
The Federation ships look nice.
-The Romulan ships look decent.
--The Klingon ships... not so much. Those Starship Traits had better make Reciprocity look balanced by comparison. :P
As for the the Fleet Dacoit, I just hope there's a non-Fleet version added to the C-Store. If not, it'll be just another KDF ship you can't obtain a Fleet Ship Module discount on. Well, if it's T5 that wouldn't be necessary since nobody really needs a T5 at this stage, but otherwise you all get the idea.
The recent boff ability revamp was a nice way to get folks nowhere near finishing the Intel Specialization (like me) access to Command abilities, but it does need the ability to burn a candidate for a training manual... at the very least to return access to certain missing abilities. Meh. I hope these are leaks of concept art rather than actual release versions, or "leaks" to obtain market feedback, but we'll see.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
You know those that watch can read that too, right...?
Still, let it not be said that players were spamming such information across all channels... that leads to changes not even the CM's are warned about in advance.

wejpuH!!!! damn... my eyes... so many antennas... such precise cuts... a masterpiece... to mark the end of tlhIngan ships as we know it!
Sad part is, those ships will be all that KDF get's till next year, or two, because... 16% and... they don't care, simple as that!
Are uglier than sin. Federation and Romulan ships are halfway decent looking. I'll stick with my Fleet T5-U K'Tinga and Fleet T5-U Tor'khat (with Vor'cha skin). One more upgrade and my K'tinga is all Epic. Now that's a Command Cruiser!
with the fleet dacoit listed with the other leaks and the new command ships having the same cruiser commands as the flight deck cruiser (as well as the hanger for that matter) I suspect the dacoit might be the first old ship to get a t6 specialisation treatment.
... one can hope at least, and on the upside the Dacoit doesn't look so ugly.
Looks like you kinda-sorta might be able to make a kitbashed Bortasqu' using various components from the 3 command ships. I'm assuming you'll be able to mix-and-match costume pieces if you own all 3. I also assume that a T6 3-pack will be 6000 zen. So....6k zen for the T6 Bortasqu' I've been hoping for. Cryptic is like a cruel genie that intentionally interprets your wish too literally, where you get what you asked for while at the same time NOT getting what you want. *shakes fist at the heavens*
Yeah, it's kinda sad. I want to give the KDF my money, but if I don't like what's being offered, I won't pay. I mean, I bought the Mogh more on principle than because I planned to actually fly it, because it's damn pretty. I did en up using for quite a while - might switch back once I get the Mat'Ha's trait.

Thats not true, I kinda like the science one
will reserve judgement on tactical until we can see at least the top side of it
and just why is it we all should know where these are coming from? cause i sure as hell dont. 1st i i heard of any of this is this thread.
but then again i have a life outside of the internet and dont constantly keep eyes on screen.

Not at all, so am I. I wanted that ship at end-game for my Orion since.....forever.
Shushhh you!!!
Do you want to cause a singularity that will suck us all in or reality to collapse???

I will agree that the SF choices look better, but that's to be expected considering that it appears that they're based on a very popular entry to the old 'Design the Next Enterprise' contest: http://crossovercomic.com/media/extras/Unrelated/startrek_contest/bonus/big/shawn_weixelman_1701f_huge.jpg (warning: large image file).
Honestly, not that bad if you ask me.

Seriously, the Fleetops game has some amazing klingon designs that the team could use for inspiration to make their own vessels.
I really wanted to give my KDF engineer a lovely new command ship, but looks are just as important as functionality
... one can hope at least, and on the upside the Dacoit doesn't look so ugly.
