A T6 ship with a new command hybrid seating, new trait, +1 console, a free warp drive with group-heal ability with boff seating like a Guardian? Oh and of course your alts get it for practically nothing.

[sarcasm] Yeah, that sucks immensely. OMG. [/sarcasm]

    I'm looking forward to it.

While I agree, I'd much rather have a Federation ship on my Fed toons, I'll get this ship, play it up til I get the trait, then use the trait while flying my other Federation ships.

Might use the console with the new set, too. Guess I'll have to see the set stats before I really decide on that, though.

That's what I'm going to do...take the trait and run. I have T5U's and I refuse to buy a T6, so I have to do some scavenging. Seems pretty fitting.

As far as using the consoles etc.--no. Due to the dev decisions to make the upgrade costs insane, major build changes are uneconomical and I am unwilling to compromise set bonuses I already have, at such a great cost. The only reason I went for the Breen warp core--on one toon--was that I already had 2 pieces of that set and had held off on any upgrades to the deflector until I decide if I want the Breen deflector.

All gear changes, BOFF changes, and ship changes now come with a price tag that is infeasible. I do not pay money for upgrades. I do not contribute my dilithium to the dil market to feed others' habits. If anyone thought these decisions would entice me to pay more they instead drove me out of the economy and only fixing that substantially and treating the customer better over time will change my mind.

You're complaining because Cryptic only crafted one new ship to give away FREE instead of 3?

Or are you saying to make it a Fed ship and tell the Romulans and Klingons to stuff it?

Neither position reflects well on you I'm afraid.

I am actually surprised that we got faction ships for the last anniversary, but they did sell 9 C-Store ship based on the free Dyson ships. The more factions there are the less chance there is for free faction ships. It was just a matter of time for the Anniversary ships to become just like the Breen and Risian ships. Hopefully, future Anniversary ships are not Kobali ships.

frankly how anyone can turn their nose up at this ship I just don't know.
I will happily grind for this ship if you can call it a grind.
this has got to be the pride of anyones fleet once they own it.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Saying most only wants faction only ships is wrong. My KDF Eng runs a Breen Warship and now Breen carrier. Both are lots of fun to use. My Fed runs the Oblisk carrier, which is fun to use. As my Romulan she don't have a ship to use other than the Romulan. Since I hadn't saw something for her to match her style.

As for this new ship. It looks good, but it really don't appeal to me. It really don't place well with what I run. My Fed uses the Ambassador as the main. Since to me even this new ship can't beat it on looks. My KDF, it really don't match the battle ready ship look. Like how KDF ships and Breen brings out for his style. Romulan it don't really match to her either. To me I just can't find a place for it. So I will pass.

Oh don't worry, the faction command ships are coming soon, to a Z-Store near you!

According to reports from long ago, the 3rd Anniversary Event [1] rewarded a faction-specific (no Romulan faction existed then) endgame-level cruiser at the cost of a single mission-playthrough (per character).
Does a complaint about Cryptic reducing their efforts (designing less ships) and simultaneously increasing the cost (weeks-long repetitive grind) really reflect bad on the player?

your either playing a space combat game or star trek... this game is ST only in name. so they moving on to factionless star ships is good. about time. wish all new T6 and higher will be faction less... get rid of the ugly nacelles too...

how about new mods of travel outside of warp or transwarp.... "time distort" ala the Federation from Blake's 7 is nice. Or proper space fold from star system to star system... no more travelling thru sector space.

I'll admit my position is much like the opening poster, though perhaps not quite as vehement.

The Samsar just doesn't have anything that makes me want it. My interest level for the Dyson ship was substancially higher, if only for the fact that they were still associated to the 3 factions even though their aesthetics still leave something to be desired.

Right now... the trait collector in my feels obligated to get it... but if I do so I'll probably be forcing myself. I just... haven't been seduced into wanting to have it. Nor have the Kobali in STO been a race I got emotionally attached in any way either. Unless the mission is compelling enough to change my mind, looking at it just elicits no desire.

I do think it was a poor choice for an anniversary ship. Personally, what I was looking forward to was following the theme of the renewed Alliance; hybrid ships of another sort, say Fed-Rom, Rom-KDF and Fed-KDF. That would have felt more relevant to me, and more tied to previous anniversary rewards (Odyssey/Bortas; Dyson hybrids) which felt mattered more universally.

The Samsar, by contrast, makes a similar impression as the Obelisk Carrier. A neat novelty to thematically introduce with an episode... but a poor anniversary special.

If I'm looking forward to something right now, it'd be the Z-Store ships that may come out from the Command specialization later on. If the Pathfinder was the Fed low-key intel science vessel, I'm hoping the Luna-class may serve as basis for a T6 low-key command science vessel.

It is QUITE bizarre for a STO anniversary ship to be a non-Federation ship

A Delta quadrant species ship, really? Were they THAT popular? 1 Episode from VOYager
Deep Space Nine in HD, make it so!

To me it would be a great time to bring out the Typhoon class for the Fed, and similar ships for KDF and Romulan. I would really went after that ship.

The sad part is, I'm 1/2 way done with DR, only Lv55. So even the new FE I will have to hold off until I get to it. Since I don't want to ruin the story by doing this early.

I don't know... I'm really enjoying my Breen T6 Carrier on my Fed Eng and my Fed Sci officer will be able to captain theirs in 4 more levels...

Although I think it would be great to see more faction-based ships, possibly through fleet, I am happy with non-faction as long as they're useful.

I'd love to be able to customize the ship, however... especially the bridge.

Free or not, if a person don't like it. Then they won't take it. To me I don't like the ship, so why have it in my limited ship slots taking up space?

I'm glad they are doing something for the Anniversary, and its free with some playing involved.

"many if not the majority" I love vague statements with no facts to back them up...

Sorry but I for one am liking what Im seeing for this years ship. Sorry you're unhappy but oh well. Last time I checked there are tons of faction ships available for each faction, and I'd bet there will be more to come via the Z store.

The majority of STO players would prefer to give me all their Energy Credits, Lockbox/Lobi Ships and Refined Dilithium.

Thanks for not listening to the playerbase again, Cryptic.

    Not listening? LOL Dude...

They KNOW players want T6 faction ships... this is why they will appear in greater numbers in A: lockboxes and B: the Z store specifically!

I'll grind for it, but as far as it being the pride of my fleet? Nah, my Voth Palisade still takes that place for me. Well made science ships are few and far apart in this game, all others are a dime a dozen since every new one for cruisers/escorts seems to dethrone the last one.

Just like the new Vaadwaur ships. Many would love those. But they know it will make $ so they could be a future lockbox and lobi ships. Which will price many out of it too. As I don't have that kind of resources for it.

Arguably Cryptic has already done that to KDF and Romulan science captains not having T6 faction science options yet when compared to Fed options.

I was hoping for a faction ship if I'm honest, but this is shaping up nicely.

Not gonna be too hard for me to get as I already have 600 of the commendations needed from the last event.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.
