The Breen carrier is nice but it doesn't have sensor analysis nor will it have a secondary deflector going by the criteria to have one. There was an opportunity to fill a gaping hole for both KDF and Romulans but it went right on past and out the window.

Frankly, OP, I find it hard to believe that you would take it upon yourself to represent "most" of the playerbase. That takes a lot of audacity, especially when the responses in this thread have more or less resolutely taken the opposite standpoint.
Personally, I could care less about faction at this point. I believe that STO has entered a post-faction period, where faction no longer matters, and many of us are happy to fly non-faction ships, use non-faction here. We are experiencing what I like to call a "melting pot" of technologies; having separate factions have almost completely become obsolete.
If Cryptic would kindly allow for cross-faction teaming, the amalgamation will be another step closer to becoming a reality. There is no more FED/KDF war, no reason to keep this -- quite frankly -- outdated and arbitrary sense of "otherness" to continue. I'd go one step farther as to allow players to fly ships from other factions. My FED admiral deserves to captain a BOP or another KDF of his choosing, because he believes that type of ship is a "good fit" for him.

I too prefer to have my fed captain command a fed ship. However, based on the designs we've been getting for them lately, I'd much rather see this creative effort put into a non-faction ship. The new cruiser looks amazing. I can't say the same for several fed ships that were designed by cryptic.

A T6 ship with a new command hybrid seating, new trait, +1 console, a free warp drive with group-heal ability with boff seating like a Guardian? Oh and of course your alts get it for practically nothing.

And don't forget that in order to get those things at the max you should have them all including any gear you'd like to use on it you'll have to spend an enormous amount of dilithium which pretty much DOESN'T make it free now does it.
Even a free event item like this has to have a grind attached, which is why some of us who were from beta onward have decided that the people in charge now really aren't MMO gamers or they'd know what NOT to do in a game like this.
This is a GAME. They give you the option of getting the ship by PLAYING the game. This is no different than leveling up your character and getting a new ship every 10 ranks.
What you are saying is nothing more than an entitled hissy fit.
If you don't want to play the game for the ship, then don't. It really is that simple.
Actually no see if the devs were to do something sensible honorable and honest then the gifts for being members of the game this long would be absolutely free right down to the weapons, sets, skills, etc but you have to spend dilithium on those things even after geting the ship AND you have to grind in order to get your free ship. That's really not a reward system is it, it's just another grind added to the game to get people to login because they know they screwed it up. Please be more honest in the future might keep you from embarrassing yourself.
If you have to grind 15 days straight for it, if you are forced to run the same mission some 4-5 odd times to get 1 each deflector, console, shields, engines, and core,

When they used to give away the ships for FREE, you ran a mission once and the reward was... guess what? THE SHIP! That was free!

I agree it should be faction ships. it's not like they have a ton of romulan ships you know. and it's not that much extra work to re-skin the same ship to be faction specific.
there is such a thing as captured, gifted or found technology, in fact the corp of engineers primary goal is to backward engineer tech and see if there is stuff that can be used in part or in whole.
this is how I view any non faction ship I use, it is just something that has been gained by fair means or foul and adapted for use by whatever faction I happen to be playing at the time.
be it summer, winter or anniversary event any ship that is non faction is merely adapted technology.
I am reminded of the cell ship that was captured in star trek enterprise and was worked on by tucker for that very reason.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Then... Don't. Quit. Walk away. Play something else, and maybe stick your head round the door in 6 months time and see if anythings changed.
