    Yes, the Cardassian Union please!

Should not have to use Zen to get a Cardassian ship. And it would be interesting for many of us

Kobali recovery technology should remain on Kobali Prime.

Ok I am all for a new faction, but how about filling out the other factions 1st.

The Federation add more to the Sol system, so we can visit Mars and a few other planets and the stations around them. Jupiter Station anyone?

The Klingons add the Orion Syndicate to their space, and has a system that can be visited with more missions klingon side.

Romulans just need to be fleshed out more, and made into a full faction, with new Romulus in it's center. And a few more mission just for the Romulus side.

Once that's done add two more factions:

    1. The Dominion/ Cardassians

    2. New race never seen before

That way you not limited to using cannon ships, and you can make whtever designs you see fit for the new race.

    IMO

My humble suggestion: Don't worry about a 4th factions. Make Romulans a full faction. The foundry system would let the devs do this with little pain and suffering. They could define the story arc for romulans and the number of missions, and then turn us loose on crafting the missions, hold a contest with some kind of prize fore each winner of each mission. Since the foundry doesn't let us give out ube rewards the devs would then have to add the prizes. It would cut cryptic's work by more then half and give us three full factions.

Any new faction might require reworking old content to blend them in more, like what they're doing with the Romulan arc missions Fed side right now. As it stands, there is NO mention of the Romulan Republic until you reach Tau Dewa, and the Romulan Tutorial takes place... was it a few weeks before Vega Colony?

A Cardassian/Dominion faction isn't going to happen based on one factor: Their ships are available to all via Lockbox/Lobi Store.
    -Cardassian Galor: Cardassian lockbox
-Jem'Hadar Attack Ship: The much desired Holy Bugship promo and 1st Winter Event ship
    -Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort: Dominion Lockbox
    -Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier: Lobi Store

That is a decent sized chunk of ships available to all existing factions already. So sorry... I don't see Cardassians or Dominion being playable. The closest you'll get is getting one of those ships and having a Jem'Hadar BOff with the Jem'Hadar gound set. Also...would cause more rage from the KDF for "Lack of attention AGAIN".

As to making Romulans a full independant faction, the way they implimented them negates that. They are too intertwined with the Federation and KDF already. Not to mention having to design brand new Romulan fleet bases, a lot more ships to bring them up to par, Romulan fleets having to grind their butts off to get close to current Fed and KDF fleet levels, forcing Fed and KDF allied Romulans who are members of Fed and KDF fleets OUT of said fleets because of Faction...
It would just be a mess and draw resources away from making new content.

Cryptic cannot sustain two factions, let alone the current two and a half or (god forbid) three and a half, or even two and two halves... So no, let's not. I'd say that the next expansion, if it contains any missions at all, should be focused on the Alpha and Beta quadrants, and not a new faction or semi-faction for Cryptic to give some OP ship or ground trait then just abandon like the Romulans and KDF.

Since LoR, Cryptic has been pulling the wool over everyone's eyes. They have been conning us. They want the player base to believe there are currently 3 factions - Fed, KDF, and Romulan. There aren't. Cryptic can create as many playable species as they want, but as long as the only choice you have is to join the Fed side or the KDF side, there are only 2 factions in STO.

    To address the OP comments:

    1. A new faction will fix PvP. It wouldn't. The problems with PvP and a "true" 3rd faction aren't related. PvP suffers from game mechanics problems (among other things).

    2. "You would get a FULL Romulan Faction". Everything you have now as a Romulan, is all you're ever going to get. There is no incentive (profit) for Cryptic to split the Romulans away nor would doing so provide any opportunities that aren't currently available now. Though I wish they still would. From an RP point of view, I've seen enough Scimitars flying around to question the military strength of the New Republic. lol

    3. It would open up even more stories and areas to explore. Cryptic doesn't need a new faction to do this.

    4. More cool ships to be used. Again, no new faction needed. Just add new ship to Z-store, lock boxes, and Mirror Universe variants.

    5. It (faction) would be a race never seen before. This is a BAD idea. For a new faction to be successful (profitable) it would have to be one players are emotionally invested in. Besides there are still a lot of interesting species in the Star Trek universe too choose from before a new one would have to be created. I personally think the Delta quadrant races are weak (I hated Voyager series). I would rather see the Dominion species added to STO. I'm sure the Dominion didn't take their loss to the Fed/KDF/Romulan alliance too lightly. What have they been up too for the last 5 years in STO? As for adding the Borg as a playable faction? Um, octahedron-shaped ship, square ship, sphere ship, capsule ship ..... not much variety .... um no.

Exactly. A release entirely dedicated to bug fixes indicates the MMO is stagnating. If a MMO is not developing new content and features, then it is in maintenance mode which means the publisher doesn't want to spend any more money on developing the game, but doesn't want to pull the plug at this moment. Even if Cryptic released a release entirely dedicated to bug fixes, then a release of a ton of content, it would cause irreversible damage due to players believing that the game is going into maintenance mode.

think of sto as a bucket and its holding water, sto has been through lots of changes and as a result over the years there have been quite a few holes punched into it and water is leaking out, at some point that bucket is going to get so badly hit up that at some point something has to change. taking the game into a full bug fixing cycle shows the devs are not willing to overlook their own game on top of plugging the holes in the bucket.. otherwise your logic would presume to state that things would get worse if they repaired the leaky bucket and should instead let all the water out. however what you fail to realize is that the water in the bucket is meant to be there for a reason, in this case the game content is what the water is representing.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
