i like the idea, i was afraid to never been able to use my galaxy x again:(
so tbr build with 400 partgen are also allowed i guess.
not that i have one for the moment but just to be sure.
also, why not tier 6 ship without mastery trait and intel power?
Because they can still use the gather intel innate ability. Stats wise for example, the Faeht nullifies the T'varo, a Matha nullifies every possible escort-like ship for KDF. They're still T6, and even if there are still ships that can outperform them, a quite big slice like your Galaxy X would become useless. Not to mention that their consoles are ridiculously powerful.
After all, the goal of the channel is to play with the meta T5, now T5U, offered. This automatically eliminates DR ships.
Be sure to check it out and comment if you agree/disagree with my findings
At this current time, I find Star Trek Online to be unplayable.
I agree on every aspect. There was a time back in S9 where I completely hated FBP builds. What has changed now?
I have a reflect energy/reflect kinetic/hull burning Vesta on my tactical toon, enough to make SS3 a death sentence... for the user
I'll be honest, everything that I considered cheesy or "no-skills-required" stuff has now become completely legit. I'm just hating T6, they have no mean to be ingame. All that keeps me bound to STO is the canon component, like Excelsior, Defiant, Prometheus, Scimitar on top of them, Vesta, Odyssey and all the remaining non-T6 faction specific ships.
I'd happily smack the moron who designed intel ships. First because they can't design something not even as good as canon, second because they... they... where the hell do they come from!?
well i disagree on some ships. Faeht for one is very, very fun to fly and well designed.
Also Eclipse is very challenging to play against.
It's not pronlem in ships at all , to be honest, particle manipulator trait is pushing people in making cheap kill FBP/TBR ships. What needed before to be carefully planned and executed attacking/counterattacking build is now accessible to anyone just by getting one trait.
When partigen TBRs were completely broken it was the same, every other ship had patigen TBR with no gravs skilled. At same time there were broken trics as well so you could come in Kerrat push TBR button and watch cloaked ships exploding left and right.
Now TBRs with doff even hold you so you don't even have to make a toon without gravs to use it lol. Still, it's less damage then before.
Viral torp trait is among BS because you cant clear it.

Depends on how you interpretate fun. It's cool to use them, but you don't realise how it feels to be continuously disabled, placated for the opponent.
For example, in PvP if you want to fly a Defiant, you can't. If you want to fly an Intrepid, you can't. If you want to fly a Galaxy, you can't. If you want to use a Fleet-grade Constellation, you can't. If you want to fly a Multi-Vector, you can't. If you want to use a Sovereign/Excelsior... you can but they're not even ideal anymore.
Problem is, you can bring them to PvP. You can't even hope to use them effectively because they're brutally slaughtered, except for the last two. The number of PvP-eligible ships is very, very very narrow. Honestly, as a huge fan of DS9, it sucks to see the Defiant performing so badly. Hell, Cloak is supposed to be Battle Cloak as in "Call to Arms" it cloaked with Martok's BoP while escaping DS9 while Dominion ships fired on them.
How do you counter SS3? If you're a healer, you can tank it, if you're an escort... uh, go >10km away from the target, if you're on a science vessel, you have no way to do so unless you're draining weapon power. That's why I now consider PM, TBR, FBP legit. If you can't stop them from firing on you, let them eat their own damage, just amplified. And let that damage crit all the times. if we go back to S9.5, T5 ships wouldn't even die to that as you had the time to stop firing and save yourself. T6 can't if they're boasting every DHC hit to over 20k raw. I wouldn't call that a cheap kill anymore; if they expect to have a guaranteed shot on me using every intel power they have, they'd better think again and distribute that damage to not kill themselves in the process.
Additionally, T6 have low hull. With TBR3 and EWP1 I'm just exploiting that weakness.

Well, let me repeat, FBP and TBR are legitimate BOFF skills, and not cheese.
Problem is in, like i have said, in traits.
FBP is not even a problem, as it still needs some kind of timing, DHCs with SS need some kind of target aquisition, but TBR doesnt require anything to pull out cloaked or non cloaked ship and deal like 10k dmg per pulse ANYWHERE around you in 5km radius. I know i used it when it was broken and it wasnt fun. i was falling asleep playing like that.
As far as expecting Defiant, Intrepid, MVAE etc to perform "now" vs t6. nah, even as fan of those ships I can't agree. These ships are now 40 years older. That's like expecting that original enterprise performs now like it did 150yrs ago.
I understand what you're saying sharxtreme...but its very difficult to pull off a kinetic tractor beam repulsor /fbp beam build. Most of the time even with part manipulator I only do around 2k hull dmg per pulse from tbr. FBP is situational.
What makes the whole build effective is the plasma torp with ewp cloud proc.
The point of the video was to show how brutally unbalanced this game has gotten. Surgical strike is acting like its beam overload so it seems to ignore reverse shield polarity as beam overload would do normally.
You can see in the video, that players were doing up to 20k per cannon bolt (surgical strike) ...imagine being hit with 8 cannon bolts in 3 seconds? That is up to 160,000 dps in 3 seconds. This is after shield resistance (50-65% shield resistance) and other heal buffs active including reverse shield polarity.
You simply cannot survive that, unless you move 10km out or ...you fight 'fire with fire'.
Even as an engineer/ tank ...you'll be hard-pressed to survive 160,000 dps in 3 seconds.
You know the most silly part of everything with that video.. is that your oponent isn't using the full potential of the skill at all, but still manages to do massive ammounts of dmg.. and as you can see in the video your oponent basicly just spams everthing at you.. and can keep the pressure going because of the cooldowns are so low on the surgical strike.
Surgical strikes is kinda sorta ok how it is, but a skill like that should never be allowed to have less than a 2 min cooldown, and not to be affected by a2b. That would balance that skill somewhat. Then it would require atleast some sort of practice with timing etc to use it properly other than just to spam it like melted cheeze all over you whenever they can.
That being said, there is something wrong with surgical strike 3, i was testing it with my intel ship and the numbers doesnt add up, fully buffed, without tweaking my build at all, i was doing 70-80k shots with dhc using surgical strike 3. You can bruteforce your way through most defenses with that kind of dmg. and if you are kinda sorta smart with it, dont fully buff up.. and do 40-50k strikes instead, and after 30 seconds you can do it again!... cheezus help us all... :P

Then a Contortrix which is as old as Archer's NX, should be weaksauce, T1 at most. Now it's one of the most powerful vessels out there. Defiant, Prometheus are over two centuries ahead, still they're utterly smashed by a Xindi.
If we follow that logic, a Constitution should wreak it

Well, contortrix got upgraded if you read it.
When I first logged in STO I was expecting to fly Intrepid as shown in Voyager. Then i saw that it doesn't have any Tac abilities, and only thing attacking wise you could do with it is to slot 2 BOs or 2 weak-TRIBBLE Torp spreads, or ofcourse use it as scramble, TBR, FBP, drain-tric annoyance.
Then i saw Defiant and its sht cloak consoloe and even worse boff seating, and MVAE "a pinnacle of Starfleet Tac ships" with it's completely handicapped BOFF seating.
You could fly those ships with success, of course, but with few uni Boffs, and integrated consoles they would live up to their fame.
Then of course I saw JHAS, a weak-TRIBBLE frigate that Defiant or BoP could vape in half volley being the best and most expensive ship evah in STO
Yeah, that is where i gave up on imagining STO is canon.
And I will say this as well, as far as canon ship go, Aventine and Scimitar are the only ones that i have enjoyed using, then came Dyson and i ditched Aventine seeing how everyone and their mom started using it as FBP/TBR boat.
And regardless of popular opinion, non-canon ships like Dyson, Ar'kif and Faeht are for me very well designed. All 3 allow enormous options, and just by changing few things on fly you get a completely different tactics and feeling.

You nailed why STO sucks when it comes to ship balance. Yes I read the Xindi's explanation on 'how and why it got upgraded", TRIBBLE, TRIBBLE, TRIBBLE and even more TRIBBLE explanation. The NX-01 could put up a fight with it, and it's even slightly larger (ENT: Twilight, Season 3, Episode 8 when a Contortrix boards the Enterprise).
Why didn't it get upgraded then? Bah, just doesn't make sense. And the technology Defiant and Prometheus are based upon is two centuries ahead, you can't just retro-retro-retro-retrofit the same freaking ship for two thousand years. STO is very little close to canon.
Recently, it even got P2W. To buy a Delta Pack with dilithium I'd need 35 days of refining on 7 characters. That just doesn't exist. Those school books next to my Mac won't open on their own. One of the ships is canon, but guess what, it sucks!
As far as expecting Defiant, Intrepid, MVAE etc to perform "now" vs t6. nah, even as fan of those ships I can't agree. These ships are now 40 years older. That's like expecting that original enterprise performs now like it did 150yrs ago.
Yes, because as we all know the paragons of combat-ready ships before the T6 Mary Sues were bleeding edge prototypes like the 130-year-old+ Excelsior, the JHAS (which can naturally mount cannons instead of kamikazing once it exhausted its lone beam array as we were led to believe) and the Galor, a ship which was repeatedly pwned by a Nebula in "The Wounded".
Oh, I'd also love to hear what you think of the Wells and how she should perform in game. I'll pull up a seat for that one trust me.

Oh, so pull it up. I said that many, many times. Wells doesn't belong into 25th century or STO.
Time travel guardians from 29th century would never allow that. And they should PWN everything that 25th century can throw at them, entire armadas just by a simple change in history.
It's canon and logic violating stuff, same as humans and Ferengis flying chemically/telepathically controled Bioships or Recluses.
In fact, I can't really think of a single ship that lives up to canon in STO, some romulan and some klingon ships come close though. Everything else is weak sauce.
That's why i said that non-canon ships like Dyson, Ar'kif, Faeht are much better ships for what they are then ships pretending, or simply said, having skin of Mogai, Defiant, Voyager, Scimitar, Sovereign, Prometheus, Aventine, etc.etc.
You certainly can see how logical it is that STO imagined ships are better implemented and seem more in place then bad copies of canon ships.
And also, like I have said many, many, many times, if STO had mechanics that would allow Defiant to be Defiant, or BoP to be a BoP those ships would be 50 times smaller then Negh'var or Sovereign, it would take a squadron of them to destroy one such cruiser.
But in STO you can one-shot a battle active Scimitar with a Shuttle.
I have seen it done live.
So you suspense your disbelief and accept the logic of the game, which is that ships are skins with no actual ship mechanics, no actual targeting, no damage being done to sectors/parts of ships. You have hull/shield/power levels/cooldowns/RNG/number of console slots. That's it.
bumping up. Did several T5U matches this morning, they were most enjoyable, really. Calling nukes, attempting rams, healers are still healers, if you get disabled it was nukara mines or Powy's aftershock shockwave, sherlock uberpwning. Member count is at 42, pretty big. Channel's open for everyone, just /channel_join T5U PvP
@david I think I've sent you an invite... probably... possibly... eventually you know how to join ^^
Bringing up to notice, I see many nowadays have implemented starship traits in their builds so deeply it would be kinda a problem banning them. So, I'm allowing them, Reciprocity, tactical retreat, all of them EXCEPT Viral Torpedo. No way I'm allowing that broken trait that can't be cleansed. Even in those matches, starship traits didn't break the fun. Viral did break it, the only and last time we tried.

Feds auto have advantage due to fed favoritism with starship traits.

well, another idea would be allowing like two traits at most. since KDF has up to four (c-store + lockbox), Romulans same... -1 Viral we're at three Romulan BC trait is singulairty core-exclusive, bring it down to two. Feds better not talk about them indeed. Eventually if people show a large interest in keeping traits banned, we can do it.
Had some great maches today with the T5U PvP Channel. It's good to play without intel BS.
/shameless admin bump mode off.

unless the iconions win in the near future, and there is no future federation or time cops, but then the temporal ships wouldn't exist ether.
